JQuery :: Datepick Plugin - Automatically Changing Version
Apr 28, 2011
I am using keith wood's datepick plugin(not the latest version). What I want to do is as soon as a txt box (called 17 for reasons I can not get intonow) is populated with a date, I want to automatically display the Gregorian version of that date in GrDate3 text box. Here is the code I am using and nothing is working. I have tried the ready and change functions and I don't get anything displayed in GrDate3.
$("17").ready(function () {
var dates = $("17").val();
var jd = dates.length == 0 ? null : dates[0].toJD();
var gr = jd == null ? '' : $.calendars.instance(gregorian).fromJD(jd);
$('#GrDate3').val(gr);
});
I started using the jQuery UI datepicker widget and soon found it too limiting, so I'm currently looking at the datepick plugin. My scenario is that I have a custom developed data grid and some of the columns have date values, previously I implemented a popup window containing a date picker which is fired when the user double clicks on a date cell in the data grid (the cells in most cases being a input element of type 'text').
The data grid itself allows the user to navigate the grid cells using the cursor keys, much like in Excel, and what I don't want is for the date picker to appear when a date cell gains focus. Otherwise if hold down the down arrow key in a date column, it's possible the picker could pop up and down for each row, but at the very least it slows down the navigation.
The jQuery UI datepicker only allows triggering onfocus or through a button (which I really don't want) and disabling the datepicker doesn't seem to make any difference so that's of no use. But the datepick plugin's "showOnFocus: false" does actually stop the picker from appearing when the textbox gains focus. The problem I have is that there doesn't seem to be a .show or .hide method like there is on the jQuery UI datepicker, but there is a showTrigger option.
How would I set up the showTrigger option to show the picker when the user double clicks on the relevant text input, considering I'm configuring all the date cells in one go? I.e.
$("input[format='date']").datepick({dateFormat: "dd-M-yyyy", showOnFocus: false}); I don't want to have to cycle through all the date cells and set the trigger individually. I wouldn't mind setting the ondblclick method of each date cell to .show the date picker, but as I say I couldn't find any .show or .hide methods for this plugin.
I'm trying to do some rollover images for a webpage I need to design, for class. I have them set up, and they work.. but the issue is that I set it up in such a way that the .js file is dynamic, and works for each page. You know, so that I don't actually have to specify the images within the .js file. The problem with THAT is that it doesn't automatically load the rollover version of each image, when the page loads.. so it's a bit sluggish.
See these demos here [URL]. I want to do the same thing (red on error and removes red upon correct entry) but only with one simple input (a spam question). All that jquery for one little thing seems def overkill. Anyone have a custom little script lying around or know of a example?
Using the minified jQuery Cycle Lite Plugin (only 3kb) is very very attractive for the project I'm working on. I'm trying to make cuts in load time and 99% of my site would only requires the fade transition, however one area needs the 'scrollUp' effect. How hard would it be to add that effect to the Lite version of the plugin?
I noticed that image anchors do not work when using the lite version of jQuery Cycle(jquery.cycle.lite.min.js) . I am referring to this example: [URL]
I copied all the code from the example and couldn't get it to work, out of desperation I switched to using jquery.cycle.all.js and the anchors instantly began working. It seems the lite version only drops the opacity on inactive slides, because clicking any slide uses the anchor href from slide 1.
EDIT: Just tested with the other versions of Cycle, and found all the other versions of cycle work flawlessly.. curious :
Does anybody know of any simple, stable plugin that does that ? been looking around and most of them bring slideshows, carousels, etc All i want is to put them into a static grid but not having to resize manually every pic that is uploaded.
I've got 16 pages, one for each of 16 days. Then I've got index page. Where will be mine usual stuff but I want to add 16 visible buttons and under each button will be its content, let say for example a picture with some text. I need automatically when user open mine index for example 3rd to show 3rd picture with some text. Is that possible? To be more specific. I need some content to be automatically changed from 1st of January 2010 to 17th of January 2010.
I want to change the color of a each word in a block of text. For example I want each word in a sentence to change to a different color automatically.
I was thinking that is if it was possible to move the color tags around each word and put a time delay between each time it moves but how I will accomplish these two actions.
[code]....We have a set list of shows that air each day, and on the site we have a marquee tag on the homepage that scrolls through showing each show and its broadcast time. Right now we're stuck changing this schedule each day by hand, but it's tough considering we're all college students ourselves and sometimes our own schedules simply don't allow the time.Is there a code that would allow this kind of a daily update to happen automatically?
I have just added a jQuery fade plugin onto a page to automatically cycle through images in an unordered list without a click event. It works well but when I preview the page with JS disabled all images become visible and it messes up the layout. What I need is a method that works when JS is disabled. I have seen methods where the {display:none} CSS styles are applied then changed via JS but can't figure this out. If anyone can either recommend a decent plugin with provisions for JS disabled browsers
I'm the webmaster for a recreational organization. As part of one page of the site, I have an HTML "Calendar at a Glance" of the organization's events for the month. It's a simple table of a calendar, 7 across by whatever needed down, and I manually create it each month - not a big deal.
Every day I go in and darken the background color of the current day's cell by changing the appropriate <TD> entry to <TD bgcolor="c63800"> and uploading the page. Takes well under a minute start to finish. Thus the calendar gradually changes color over the course of the month, with the past dates dark and the future dates lighter and thus more apparent to the eye.
But I have to ask if there's a nifty way in which this might be done automatically, based on the current day and the number (the day of the month) that follows the <TD> entry.
I have problems updating from version 1.7.2. to version 1.8. I'm using a custom theme - can anybody give me a step-by-step guide how to update without destroying the whole site ? :) I would like to have the button featueres in the new version
I am using the cycle plugin. I am cycling through 3 images. There are 3 corresponding divs below the images.I would like to change the background color of the div based on the corresponding image that is active.
I've written my own custom validation method using addMethod which works great. But what I'd like to do is change the error message depending on which part of the validation it fails on.
I've tried defining & using a var for the message but the message never changes, a very simple cut-down example:
var customError = ""; $.validator.addMethod("myvalidator", function(value, element) {
I am building a firefox plugin which customizes Google Mail. I want a feature in it to automatically send email by a event raised by my plugin. This feature is required when I am on compose page but I don't want the user to hit the Send button.
I've successfully managed to implement the JQuery Cycle Plugin with the Shuffle Effect (works in all the latest version browsers) but I can't figure out how to change the direction of the effect. By default the images slide out to the left then back in again to the right (where they disappear beneath the next image). I'd like to change the direction to either. Out to the right, then back in to the left or a vertical variant. I've tried playing around with the animOut and animIn parameters but they seem to have a null effect.
I am trying to get started using JQuery, but I find I can't even get to lesson #1. When I go to jquery.com and click to download the latest version (or any version) it doesn't "download" anything. It opens the file as a webpage in my browser and I see all the JQuery in one big string. Why won't the file just download? Is it the browser I am using? Is it my Mac?
I define a cycle in document.ready as per usual. In my cycle I have different sets of images that i want to cycle through and only want certain ones to cycle as selected using the slideExpr option.
Is there a way to change this option from:
SlideExpr: 'a'
To:
SlideExpr: 'b'
Another alternative i've considered is to make a cycle of cycles.
I am exhausted today, not to include the funk that the BCS national championship put me in, so I must be either crazy or missing something. When I do the following the code works;
I have an application developed using jQuery1.2.3 and I currently have issues with printing a pre-defined area of a page within the application.I found the solution in the jQuery Plugin - PrintArea but it's not compattible with jQuery 1.2.x. The introduction of PrintArea and jQuery 1.3.2 to my app throws errors like "exception thrown and not caught - Query1.3.2.js" and "object does not support this property or method - on the line where I'm calling the printArea function".
