JQuery :: Custom Validation (Regex) Does Not Work Test Method Undefined?
Nov 17, 2010I created a custom validation like this <script type="text/javascript">

I created a custom validation like this <script type="text/javascript">
[Code]...
I have added a method on jQuery validator like this
$.validator.addMethod('myEqual', function (value, element) {
return value == element.value; // this one here didn't work :(
}, 'Please enter a greater year!');
$.metadata.setType("attr", "validate");
[Code].....
Using JQuery validation plugin, it will work in css, class='required", but I use method to validate, it will not work. The coding is below. It will skip the validation and go to server.
function saveNew(){
$("#my_form").validate({
errorLabelContainer: $("#RegisterErrors"),
rules: {
scope: { required: true }
},
messages: {scope: "scope is required" }
});
$("#my_form").submit();
}
<div id="RegisterErrors" style="display:none" ></div>
jquery.validation remote method doesn't work with jquery 1.5.0
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm writing a form validation function and would like to verify that a field only contains alphanumeric characters. How should I structure that statement? the following seems logical but doesn't work;
Code JavaScript:
if(document.getElementById('RegisForm_Username').value == /[^a-zA-Z 0-9]/g)
{
your username must be alphanumeric (consisting of the letters A-Z or numbers 0-9) and cannot have any special characters.");return false;}
If you call the below code, it will incorrectly print "true, false" when it should be "true, true". WHy is that? How do I fix this?
Code: isCapitalLetter = /[A-Z]/g;
//Incorrectly alerts "true,true"
alert( isCapitalLetter.test( "lineHeight" ) + "," + isCapitalLetter.test( "lineHeight" ) );
I have used `jQuery.validator.addMethod` to create a custom validate method that will make sure there is at least one row in my data-entry table. Using Firebug, my breakpoint in the method isn't being hit at all. Am I missing something? Note: I am sure there are problems with the validation method itself, but that is because I can't debug it yet. I am still very much a novice with JavaScript.

Could anyone please explain why my validation doesn't work? When I use only predefined validation methods everything seems to be fine, but when I use a custom method it doesn't do anything until I click submit and then cancels the submit with "$.validator.methods[method] is undefined". The debugger does never jump into the "noBefore" method, I got a breakpoint at the first line. I've tried to write the "notBefore" in quotes in the rules but that doesn't seem to help either.Everything seems to be right, though.

In the new version of jquery.validate (1.5.3) there is an option to get a remote error message from the server for invalid elements. I did not find what should be the exact response from the server for producing such an error message. From the documentation: "The response is evaluated as JSON and must be true for valid elements, and can be any false, undefined or null for invalid elements, using the default message; or a string, eg. "That name is already taken, try peter123 instead" to display as the error message." But if i return a string, isn't it evaluated as true ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have web form (not MVC) that has bunch of textarea and textboxes where user can input HTML markup. For example, a textarea is provided so users can put YouTube embed iframe html tag where it will be shown on their profile. The problem is that asp.net 4.0 http request validation doesn't like things like ">" or "<", etc. I can put pagevalidation="false" on the page and/or revert back to .net 2.0 validation but why would I want to do that since I have geniuses like you guys that can show me how to do what I want with jquery without jeopardizing security.
So what I want to do is form a handler so when the form is submitted, the content of the textboxes and textarea on the page be encoded (i.e. > to > etc.) before the submission to the asp.net 4.0 so we can keep the httprequest validation stuff happy. I have added a class "mustEncode" to each of the textarea and textboxes.
Has anyone performed or seen a customization of validatepassword? I'm looking to create a custom validation and don't know where to start.

Either I'm having a really dim Friday, or something strange is going on. I'm trying to add a method to the Validator plugin, using the following regex:

Is there difference in using regexp.test(string) or str.search(regex)? Getting difrnt results when I use one vs to other.
I use sample: [URL]. For input value "tes?t.txt" I get different output when using search method vs test method.
I have tried many different scripts Regex and different javascripts but nothing seems to work. The code I will send is about the closest I have gotton but it pops up a box whether it is valid or not. I just really know nothing about javascript to even know what to change.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLet say I have the following form. I need to put the error message of the checkbox a bit differently from the other element. The point is that I don't want the error message between the checkbox and the text. Let say I have:
Name: [textbox] error here (required)
Email: [textbox] error here (required + email)
Interests: (at least 2 checked)

I have created a couple simple custom validators but this one isn't working. I have an input #eSig and two others #FirstName and #LastName. I need to add a rule that says the value of #FirstName must be contained in eSig, and one that is the same for #LastName.

I am trying to create a custom method for all Strings.
Code:
var chkStr = {
isBlank: function() {
if (this.length < 1) return false;
[code]....
I am getting a Quote: form.formName.field.value.isBlank is not a function error.
Im using the jquery validation plugin: [URL] The forms are generated dynamically using php, with the standard class 'required' the plugin looks for, however when it comes to adding my custom rules i want them to be dynamic, as the name/id attributes are generated based on what the id of the form is: i.e. the form ID is #comp so an input would have a name attribute of comp_forename, comp_surname so basically the validator is initiated by looking in the body for a form: var form_id = $('body form').attr('id'); Then how can icancatante the strings to created the name attributes dynamically in the rules here:

I have a problem with jquery not working in JSP. I have downloaded a theme in jquery but it does not seem to work. And I do not know what is the problem why it does not seem to work. I am very new to jquery and JEE. I am actually rushing this project as the deadline is very near.
this is my jsp code: (the markup is from the demo of the theme I downloaded in jquery theme roller since I meant to see how it would look first before implementing) code...
Can I add a new validation method in the script "additional-methods.js" of the validation plugin ?
I tried to do it, but it didn't work
Can anyone tell me what am I missing ?
So I created a custom rule following numerous examples out on the web for a dynamic text input, but for some reason it seems to be letting spaces through even though my regexp tests out ok to not match when the value is any combination of spaces...
$.validator.addMethod("noSpace", function(value, element){
return this.optional(element) || /^[a-z0-9][a-z0-9_ ]{0,70}$/i.test(value);
}, "Please enter a name starting with either a letter or a digit.");
$('#form').validate({
rules: {
[Code]...
The odd thing is, it will work if you type in a space followed by a character, but if you type in one space, or one space followed by x number of spaces, it just lets it through like it's valid. But yet when I look at the demos and examples that I pulled this from, they never let those scenarios go through.

I've been having a lot of trouble trying getting the following code to work, all the examples that I have seen tell me that it should, but it doesn't and i'm out of ideas.
if (parent.input_frame.input_form.cheque_number.value.search(/./) != -1)
{
alert('The cheque number is invalid.');
parent.input_frame.input_form.cheque_number.select();
return;
}
What I want it to do is alert the user that the cheque number they have entered is invalid if it contains a period / full stop / dot.
The problem is that it always says the cheque number is invalid no matter what the user enters.
I have spent the last hour or two trying a number of things using just about all the regex functions and examples in the JavaScript book I have and examples from other posts on this site, but still cannot get it to work.
If you could let me know what I am doing wrong or provide me with an example of another way to do this that would be great.
Browser is Internet Explorer, have tried /D/ as the regex too, but this did not trigger the alert when a number with a dot was entered.
I'm trying to make a customCycletransition. I want the slide to scroll left or right and simultaneously fade in or out to be revealed or disappear. To handle both directions in one transition I'm basing it on the built-in scrollHorz transition, which looks like
this:$.fn.cycle.transitions.scrollHorz = function($cont, $slides, opts) {
$cont.css('overflow','hidden').width();
opts.before.push(function(curr, next, opts, fwd) {
[code]....
This makes the slide that slides out fade as expected, but the slide that slides in doesn't fade. It is suddenly made visible before sliding in. So it ignores the opacity that I set on line 9.
I downloaded it via the "Download" link from URL...I have a small form where a German date (i.e. 1.1.2011 or 01.01.2011) should be inserted by a user.So looked up the API on URL...for the needed method and there it was documented: dateDE.However it did not work, my form would submit if anything was inserted into the input field.So I did some Google searches and some searches here, and couldn't find anything.Searching through the additional-methods.js, I still couldn't find the method.Looking at the jquery.validate.js I noticed there was no dateDE defined, just "date" and "dateISO"I'm not sure if this is already known, or intentional - but it seems to me that the dateDE method REALLY IS missing.However I fixed it for me and want to share (not sure if "share-worthy" but I'll do it anyway)[code]
