JQuery :: Custom Carousel Queuing When Change Between Navigator Tabs
Aug 15, 2011
I dedicated some time creating my own carousel with images, and got a little problem:
It works perfectly when I´m on the website, but when I change between the tabs on firefox/chrome, it seems that the function make some kind of queue, and when I come back to the website, it execute the function a lot of times at the same times, passing between the images in less than half second (I configured to change every 5 seconds).
function circCar (car) {
Here is the code, and if anybody wants to see the problem, open this url, open another tab (blank or another website) and stay on it about 15 seconds, when you come back to my site, you will see the queued function. [url]
I am using a jQuery tab plugin that shows a different content div on click of each tab. It also has a fade in [URL]
In addition, I am using the scroller scripts from Blueshoes (I also tried another, similar scroller script, but run into the same problem: [URL].
What I want to achieve: Have a simple tab function with up to 6 tabs. Each tab content will have a scrollable div with a custom scrollbar that also scrolls on mouseover.
The problem: The tab and scrollbar on initial page load work fine. Once I click on the second or third tab, the tab content loads fine, but the scroller function does not load. I have to click on the tab number again for the scrollbar to appear (I added an onClick event that loads the scrollbar, but this only seems to be activated on the second click, not the first click)
I thought I could just reload the page again with an onClick event on the tabs, but this only reloads the page with the first tab active, and the tab content fade in effect doesn't quite show anymore. In addition, I do not know how to change the script so the tab that was been clicked on (e.g. tab2 or tab3) is active on page reload.
take a look at site, where you can see everything it all in action: [URL]
I'd prefer a solution that loads the scroller script immediately onClick of each tab without reloading the page.
I tried all kinds of possibilities, and I have been working on this for the past 2 days! My Javascript knowledge is just to limited to grasp what needs to happen.
Here is my code, as simplified as possible, with comments in italics:
CSS, JAVASCRIPT and LINKS to JS libraries and plugins:
Its a long shot posting here but the task I'm using a jQuery Carousel that has a youTube video embedded on one of the slides:
[URL]
I have is does any one know a way that when the user clicks a new slide the youTube video pauses, turns off, or at the very least the volume of the video is set equal to zero.
I am using 1.8.4 jquery tab portion. Currently when a tab is selected or hovered the classes change for the UL, OL tags. I would also like the A and span tags to change with the same values (ui-tabs-selected, ui-tabs-active and ui-tabs-hover).
I am using the standard template as below. I have gotten part of the way there but can't get all of the way there. I am guessing I need to change portions of the code from instances of searching for parent of A to do parent of A, A itself and children of A. Or I could find the first parent ul and say addclass, removeclass from all children.
I'm just trying to get used to jquery. I decided to try and make a simple drop down menu so I used the jquery show/hide effect with mouse events. I just have issues with this effect and wonder if I am going about it in the right way. here is my code for the show/hide:
If I move my mouse over the mouse event area the menu opens the way I want it to and If I move my mouse off the mouse event area it closes the way I want it to. But if I do it rapidly its like jquery has to open and close the menu for each instance I go over or out of the area and it has to play "catch up". My mouse could be inactive and somewhere off in the corner and the menu is opening and closing "x" amount of times to complete all its tasks. From what I understand this is called "queueing" in jquery and this feature can be turned off so I tried something like this:
Doing this causes a worse problem because now if I go rapidly eventually they won't even open at all. In the best case I would like the menu to have a slight delay when I move the mouse off of it and then when I return the mouse to the menu I would like it to cancel the previous "mouseleave" event.
It is possible through the show effect or should I should I be using the animate effect to create a custom animation. If so what do I "animate" with the animate effect. I tried ".animate({dispaly: "show")} but all that does it quickly shows the menu and then it disappears.
to explain the basics of my menu design the class "menu" has the top level menu title within that element itts child is the submenu element with all the submenu items on it. The submenu is set to absolute positioning so it doesn't effect anything when it opens/closes and by default the display is none. This all works great with the ".show()" effect except for the queueing issue.
i have it so my tabs will fade in/out when i click on them using the UI, how do i make this action happen automatically after a certain period of time even if they havent changed the current tab manually?
I have a simple navigation system, and I am using hover, to show/hide details, but if I hover back and forth too fast between the elements, the animation queues up and keeps executing even when I am not hovering over them.
[Code]...
I can use stop() on animate to prevent queuing, but doing it like in the code above, stops the animation from even happening. Please suggest a solution.
I can't seem to get more than one request to fire simultaneously... and I have read there should be at least 2 possible (in IE) and more in Firefox....
I'm having issues with jquery and the tabs I'm using. My tabs work but... I want some more functions and that seems to be a big problem for a Javascript and jquery newby.
I really don't know if this is correct but it works! What doesn't work is the active class. If you use one of the buttons in the first tab you go to the right tab but the tab itself has no class called active and that ruins the style.
2) I also have one other question: lets say that all the above is my second page and I have my frontpage in which I also have buttons. I want somebody to use the button and end up in the third tab of page 2. My link is something like
Code: page2.html#tab3
I read that using this should lead you the third tab but it's not working for me. You go to the first tab of page 2 instead.
I've been reading a LOT! Jquery for dummies, I googled, read the forum and other forums. I posted on a Dutch forum but no answer. I've added a lot of different code but it doesn't work.
I have nested tabs in jquery tabs which are pretty simple to do if we want static jquery tabsbut what if we want nested tabs that the remote page should decide what would be the tabs.or in other words i want nested tabs in a remote page (or ajaxified) For example i m calling this page(remote page) through tabs
I am using jQuery tabs and when I have very long content within the tabs, my browsers scroll bar reflects the content in the tab with the most content.
Example, "Tab 1" & "Tab 3" has a very long scroll bar, even though it has no content (because of Tab 2) and you can scroll down through the empty space
[URL]
Is there a way I can hide the content in Tab 2 so that my browsers scroll bar displays correctly in relation to the content in the active tab?
navigator.userAgent returns information about the user operting system, Browser etc.
Usually you get somthing like:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) or Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) or Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Netscape/7.1 (ax)
imho there is too many information, most of it confusing for the user. What I would like to do is, evaluate the information and reduce it to the opereting system and browser version.
e.g.
MSIE 6.0, Windows XP
or
Netscape 7.1, Windows 98
obstacles: - As far as I know, the structure of the data returned by navigator.userAgent depends on the browser. So a specification for each browser would be a good starting point, any ideas where to find?
- Why do I get "Windows NT 5.1" instead of "Windows XP"? Any other synonyms?
I need to know that navigator (IE or FF) was restarted or just know that cache was deleted. When I change sth in JS script, my old script is still in user navigator cache. I need user to use my new script, so he/she must clear cache or restart navigator (or maybe sth else). I show allert() that he/she mast do it, but how can I ckeck he/she did it?
I am trying to read all the navigator object elements
1. Using the navigator.length returns undefined, cant use for loop;
2.Using and array of known elements like var a = Array("appCodeName","appName","appVersion"); I seem to miss something to get it combined like navigator.a[i]
I am trying to test changes to my site (made only on my local machine so far) in IE v6, Mozilla 1.6, and Opera 7.5.
When I test "navigator.javaEnabled in IE it corretly reports true/false depending on whether javascript is enabled.
However, both Mozilla and Opera *always* return false. How can I properly test to see if javascript is enabled/disabled in these two browsers? (If you have a reference on the web, please point me to it as I've spent several hours trying to find what I need.) Code:
I'm having trouble figuring out why content isn't showing up on the 2nd and 3rd tabs of a tabbed content section embedded on a page. The content shows fine for the first tab but not at all for 2 and 3.
Page of tabbed content is [URL].. It's an OsCommerce site using STS Templates for the pages. Here's the code:
I'm planning on making a website which is mainly just a gallery of images.
The site will essentially look like one page with a jCarousel on it, when the user clicks left or right on the carousel, I would like the URL to change but for the animation not to get interupted.
I would also need to change some HTML on the page too, essentially each image will have a Facebook 'like' button and that will need to change to the corresponding URL.
The carousel is going to be database driven and dynamically built up with potentially 1000's of images, so I'm not sure what the best technique for this would be? I'm building it in ASP.NET / Ajax and using the SlideJS carousel [code]...
I don't have a ton of experience with JQuery, but I'm trying to design a carousel using Agile Carousel, the plugin. I've copied the code correctly, but nothing shows up. My code is as follows:
Anyone know a jquery plugin I can use for a horizontal scrolling image carousel with different size images. I Iike the plug in here as my client will be easily able to put new content using a simple text file. The problem is that the images will be the same height but different width so I get ugly spaces between narrow images. Is there a plug in that solves this or is there a way to manipulate the css for each image so as to adapt the width of the div ? I can add the height and width properties of the images themselves to the text file and that works up to a point , but the images display at their correct size but the carousel stops working.
Here is the jCarousel lite page : [URL] And here is my project : [URL] Carousel pager works great, when you click a page, carousel switch to the chosen page. But if you try to drag an item outside the carousel (green border), the item won't go above the carousel border, but underneath.
I'm trying to create a horizontal carousel/slider that will display my latest Tweet.
I started with some code I found to pull in my latest tweets via .json. I got that all set up and now I'm trying to integrate the bxSlider plugin to cycle through these tweets one at a time.
At this point I get all the tweets in a <li> that cycle through together. I've set up a jsfiddle to demonstrate what I have
