JQuery :: Change BG Position On Horizontal Webpage

I have been using jquery (which is fantastic) for over a year now, but only basic little bits of code. Now I want to try something a little bigger but I can't get it to work. The problem is, I have a fixed background with position to the left which when scrolling horizontally it sits flush against the left, I want it so when you get to the end of the document it smoothly carries on to the right and then sits flush against the right. And when you scroll back towards the start it bounces back to where it was before. The code I've tried so far which works, but whenever I try 'click' instead of 'hover' nothing works? Also it just jumps to the other side, I'm not sure how to make it scroll to the other side smoothly.
I'm new to javascript and am not sure why this works in firefox and not chrome. I am trying to create a script that keeps an object fixed horizontally while bing positioned absolute vertically. if I replace the toPP variable in document.getElementById('fire').style.top = toPP; with say '50px' it will move the element down 50 pxs, but how I have it currently it doesn't do anything in chrome

I have a <div> element which contains a chain of auto-popullating dropdown boxes that grows horizontally towards the right as more boxes are created. When enough are created, I have a scrollbar that forms so the boxes don't go of the page.
As the scrollbar appears, I would like it to default on the right side instead of the left side, that way members don't have to keep manually moving the scrollbar in order to see the next box.
i am using the jquery superfish menu at[URL]. i cannot seem to modify the width of the menu items (or the <li>). how do i do this? i am using the superfish.css style sheet. i tried to modify the width by changing the values of a few classes (i.e. where it said 100% or had an em appended), but this did not .
How do I position multiple Iframes on a webpage? Specifically, is it possible to wrap-around text around iframes? or even more specific, like surround an iframe that is centered on a page with text?

I am trying to make the link on each day in the calendar go to a new page on the site instead of populating a form with the current day.
For example, if you click July 6, 2011 I need it to go to /events.php?page=calendar&event-date=2011-07-06 The link shows "/events.php?page=calendar&event-date=" when you hover over it, but it does not actually link to anything. I also need to dynamically pull the date clicked into the url.

(whan you scroll down) I want to do the same thing with my first <tr> : That way on a my long table you will never loose the title of each columns. I start the page by hiding the above html by using $('#t_menu_options').hide(); And that works.
Now upon some user mouseclick event, I want to show the html and move it to a position where the user clicked: function showTaskOptionsMenu(e) { alert(e.pageX+" "+e.pageY); $('#t_menu_options').css({'left':e.pageX+'px','top':e.pageY+'px'}).show(); } The alert command works as expected. however, the html is simply showed at the bottom of the page and is not moved to the desired location.
I have a slideshow that I built, and all is good. However, I want to arbitrarily change a slide once the slideshow is underway, and I don't see a mechanism to do that.
I have tried to write two simple functions to achieve this:

but this doesn't seem to do the trick...it can locate the slide position, but the insert of the slide doesn't work...I get a blank slide in place of the html I want to insert.
I'm very new to Jquery but have finally worked out how to change the background-image (a sprite) of my #contentContainer when hovering over a separate 'trigger' image. However, for the life of me I cannot work out how to apply a fade effect to the transition. Basically, instead of the current abrupt background image transition I would like it to fade in smoothly on mouseover and mouseout.
Question: Is there a possible way to create a js function that will change a web page template and have the duration change every 4 months? This means that all pages corresponding to the template being used will change with the template?
I have 4 page designs and would like to implement the different designs every 4 months but would like to create a script that will automatically do this instead of having to manually go in and change every page to match the template desired.
I have the following code which *should* change the image I have on my webpage to images based on the time.

I don't know why this won't work. It should compare the hour variable (h) to the hour, and then change the image based on that. However it doesn't do this, and I'm not sure why. I've tried using both = and ==, but neither seem to work. Like I said I am a newbie to this sort of stuff.Also, would there be a way of making the el.src to: "images/timedate/"+[the hour]+".png" without the need of directly comparing the hours? It would be useful if it was possible, as I need to do a minutes one as well
i,m trying to make a map who show me as position A and a target adress as point B.I have made it so i can choose adress a and adress b from a dropdown but i want to automaticly load my position as possition A then choose position B from a dropdownlist. How can i do this ?
I can't figure out the code to perform this task. I need to change the menu's text color with a mouseover on a webpage. The menu consists of 7 text links. Each one is a different color. The mouseover is to change the text link to orange while the other 6 menu items change to purple.
I'd like to use JavaScript to dynamically change the cursor style of the entire web page but I can't seem to get the phrasing correct. The following does not work:
I have a calendar inside a div on my webpage which will show /hide when user click a button. but the button is almost at the bottom of my webpage, I am using position :absolute for the div so everytime when the div shows, it will "drop down" cause the vertical scroll bar appears on web browser and the user have to scroll down to see the whole calendar. I was trying to change the div position (e.g if it is near the bottom of webbrowser then "drop-up") when the div is showing.

I'm try to set up a webpge that will play a live flash video on the left-hand side(got that part working) and display one slide of a presentation(jpg) to the right of the video. I would like to be able to control when the slide image changes by having some js check a text file on my server. The text file could contain something as simple as "Slide1.jpg". I will manipulate the text file with some code I've already written. Is there some simple js code I can put in my page that will cause it to check the text file every 5 seconds, and if the content of the file has changed, to refresh the image on the page with the new image? I'm try to get away from the "clicking" sound that is caused by doing a simple refresh of an Iframe.
