JQuery :: Animate Mouseover/Mouseout Stuck In Loop?

Jan 4, 2010

I'm having issues with the animate procedure in jQuery. I should start by saying that while I am not new to web developement and scripting, I am fairly new to jQuery so this may be fairly elementry to some of you pros out there.

Basically what I am doing is I have an image map with hot spots, when you mouse over a hot spot, another image (an enlarged version of the hot spot) appears (fading in and growing) and then disappearing on mouse out (fading out and shrinking). My problem is odd because it does not happen every time, but "sometimes" when you mouse over the first animation (grown and fade in) will run then second will run (shrink and fade out) and then repeat until you click outside of the hot spot and the popped-up image. I've noticed the problem mainly occurrs in Firefox (3.5) and rarely or never in IE (8) and Chrome (2).

JQuery :: Hide Menu Flyout On Mouseout

Aug 10, 2011

What is the proper technique to hide a flyout menu on mouseout? Note that it should not disappear if the user continues to hover over it's corresponding menu tab.
Some ideas:
1. I remember seeing a post about this fromkboudloche, but can't find it for the life of me. He selected the whole document, and then filtered out the menus, and hid the flyout on a mousein event. Something like that.
2. I have a parent div that contains both the menu tab and its flyout. I tried hiding the flyout on a mouseout of that div, but to no avail.
3. Some sort of nested check; e.g.:
If mouseout of flyout area...
If mouseout of menu tab...
Hide flyout
4. Selecting the document body, and then using not() or filter() to remove the flyout and tab, and binding a mouseover -> hide flyoutevent to this selection.

Drop Down Menu Stays Down On Mouseout

Mar 8, 2010

Using a css dropdown menu with javascript work-around for ie. Sorry to post yet again on this subject, but I couldn't find a solution in previous threads. My problem (in IE): I'm using the workaround as detailed in the "suckerfish" article [URL]. Works great to drop my menu down, but when I mouse out the menu remains. On checking back with the original article, they have the same problem so I tried adapting the mouseout line in different ways. Still can't figure it out. Here is my site: [URL]

Drop down menu only exists for the "producers directory".

JQuery :: Animate A Fade In On A Dropdown Menu

Jan 11, 2011

I am trying to use jquery to animate a fade in on a dropdown menu for a website I am developing. The menu works correctly if I have the script turned off but when it is on it is very close to functioning properly basically it just fades in the UL on rollover but I am getting some weird effects. The script doesn't work on the first rollover and sometimes the menu doesn't fade in at all on rollover. I'd love some help on this. You can see the site here. [url]

This is the jquery

The rest of the code is too long to post here. Please pull it from the site.

function a(info) {

Page Slide Effect With Stationary Menu?

Oct 18, 2011

I was wondering if jQuery or mootools has a set of scripts that creates a page slide effect with a stationary menu? What I mean is instead of loading a page when you click a link, all pages of the website are loaded at first, and then when a link is clicked, the corresponding page slides onto the screen. The navigation menu remains unchanged (except for dropdown menus) throughout everything. This is a perfect example of what I'm looking for: [URL] I tried to search for this but didn't come up with too many great results, and I searched the jQuery documentation and wasn't able to find a slider feature.

Modifying An Expanding Menu Script To Turn Off An Effect?

Firstly apologies for my javascript ignorance - I'm not a programmer, just someone thrust into programming since there's no-one else at my company who can do it.

I found a nice js script online for a drop-down menu where the drop downs both expand to their full size and fade-in (very quickly) from transparent.

The script in action can be seen on the script writer's site here: http://sandbox.leigeber.com/dropdown-menu/index.html

JQuery :: .animate() Resets Before Animate?

Nov 19, 2011

I use the wonderful .animate() method to create a "parallax website". It's still in developpement, but you can see the result : www.ohnewgarden.fr My problem : When you are at the very right, the animate effect reset my left property before animating. Which is weird is that this "reset" is applied only to two layers, without any sense. I'm going crazy !

So if someone could help me, it will be very nice ! It's probably my code which is wrong, but I can't see the mistake.

[Code]...

I said for my defense, I have tried to remove .stop(), tried to change parameters of .stop(), tried to reset (like there) the left property with a .css() method, and I have also tried to animate with "+=" (like there), but nothing works. If you follow to the link I gave, you could see very easily by clicking on "Contact" and after animation by clicking on "Accueil".

JQuery :: Animate Onto Screen Works, But Animate Off Screen Happens Instantaneously?

Dec 27, 2011

I have a div that has a negative top margin and a negative right margin. The right margin is because I want to have the div slide onto the page from the right. The top margin is because without it my page height is the height of the visible elements plus the height of the off-screen div.On a button click, I move the div down and then animate it onto the screen from the right. On button click again, I animate the div to the right, off the screen, and then move it up. I also toggle its width & padding so it will appear to grow/shrink as it moves on/off screen. At least that's what I am trying to do. The animation onto the screen looks good, but going off the screen, it appears to happen intantaneously, instead of animatedDoes anyone know how I can fix this?

var thisAddPanelsMenu = $(this).parent().prev(".addPanelsMenu");//get the addPanelsMenu

JQuery :: How To Use Mouseover / Mouseout In Loop

Sep 7, 2011

I am a newbie on jQuery. I work on a project which will allow to find a room in a building. On the left of the page there is a plan of the floor, and on the right, a list of the rooms coming from a database. Every room is a link and when the mouse rolls over the link, the room is highlighted on the plan.

I use this function :
$('#link_1').mouseover(function(e) {
$('#sal_1').mouseover();}).mouseout(function(e) {
$('#sal_1').mouseout();}).click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); });
$('#link_2').mouseover(function(e) {
$('#sal_2').mouseover();}).mouseout(function(e) {
$('#sal_2').mouseout();}).click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); });
$('#link_3').mouseover(function(e) {
$('#sal_3').mouseover();}).mouseout(function(e) {
$('#sal_3').mouseout();}).click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); });

But as far as I don't know how many rooms I have, I would like to use it in a loop, something like that :
var indTab = 1;
$('#link_'+indTab).mouseover(function(e) {
$('#sal_'+indTab).mouseover();}).mouseout(function(e) {
$('#sal_'+indTab).mouseout();}).click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); });

indTab++;
It doesn't work like that. A second idea is to use .each()
$("[id^=link_]").each( function() { // all the id's starting with link_
$('#link_'+indTab).mouseover(function(e) {
$('#sal_'+indTab).mouseover();}).mouseout(function(e) {
$('#sal_'+indTab).mouseout();}).click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); });
});
No success.
