May 6, 2009

I have a table that i load into the document via ajax. the table shows a list of times. every row has a button that when clicked should call another AJAX function. However when clicking the link nothing happens. If I put a link in the original document myself and ask it to do this, it works fine, but becuse this is generated code, this option will not do.

THis calls for the table.... works fine...

$(function () {
$("#departmentToSchedule").change(function () {

Ajax :: Adding An Error To All JQuery Post() Functions?

Jul 25, 2011

Our app handles all users information via AJAX using jQuery. We return data.success or data.error depending on if it the API works or not. We also run the jQuery error() function on each post() just in case there is an actual problem reaching the server. It's getting tedious having the same thing for all of them.Here's a simplified example:

$.post('/api/nodeSave.php', {
net: true
}, function(data) {

[code]....

is there any way to add the trailing error() function as a default to all post() functions we run so I don't have to include it every single time?

JQuery :: Adding Elements To DOM?

Jun 30, 2009

I have a javascript method that adds a good portion of HTML to the DOM after an AJAX request completes. It's an image uploader... so once an image uploades, I add it to the list of images along with a save and delete button. Normally when a user clicks save or delete (they are specified as classes with images called save and delete), a javascript method is called.

Problem is, when I add another image to the list along with its save and delete images, they aren't going to respond to the clicks. I know this is because I already did the

$('.save').click(function (element) {
saveImage(element);
}

script in the document ready. Is there a way to get the new DOM stuff I just added to also apply to that?

JQuery :: Dynamically Declaring Functions - 'array' Variable Contains Strings Representing The Id's Of Different Elements

Oct 12, 2010

Demonstration code:

The 'array' variable contains strings representing the id's of different elements. If the for loop above were to finish iterating, would all the links in all three elements call the click function (that displays an alert message), or would only the last element ("element3") have the click function? For me, the latter seems to be the case unless if I'm doing something wrong, but I would like clarifications and, if possible, alternative solutions as to how I can achieve the former result.

JQuery :: Adding And Removing Elements?

I'm trying to make a form that will generate some code for game based on what they fill out. The code will be a modification menu of sorts. They will be able to name the menus and submenus and add or remove them if they want. I will need a way to get the information they filled in for each specific menu form, so I figure giving them each a unique id would do the trick. I'm sure there is a MUCH better way to do this, but here's what I have so far:

JQuery :: Adding Div Elements Dynamically

I'm baiscally trying to get some twitter feeds and the rotate them. I can get it and everything like that but for some reason the jQuery doesn't pick up the divs that I appended to the container because when I alert the div.length like this: alert(divs.length); The result is always zero. The code works fine if I can populate that value but if I don't have it in the code before hand it doesn't work. However if I add a div to the container like this:

JQuery :: Adding Mouseover Elements To Div?

Sep 16, 2009

I am after adding a mouseover (and mouseout) to a div tag, however this mouseover and mouseout will require an element id passing to it to work. Currently the tag is

<DIV class="mc-c" onMouseOver='document.getElementById("ID1").className="mc-h-on"' onMouseOut='document.getElementById("ID1").className="mc-h-off"'><DIV id="ID1"></DIV></DIV>

but the tag will soon become

<DIV class="mc-c"><DIV id="ID1"></DIV></DIV>[/

The ID1 is generated when rendering the HTML and there may be multiple of these tags (each with a different ID#).I would like to add the same functionality as the first bit of code to the second, does anyknow know of this. I have been able to add mouse overs to DIV's already, however passing a variable to it I am struggling with

Dynamically Adding Javascript Functions On The Fly?

Apr 1, 2006

Might there be a way to add a set of Javascript functions to a display page's existing set of Javascript functions on the fly without reloading the display page, and if so, how?

A couple of approaches I have tried, but without success are:

- A) For an embedded "retriever" IFrame in the display page to retrieve a set of JS functions from the server and then on its "onload" transfer (by innerHTML transference) that set of functions into the parent display page.

- B) Similiar to "A" but to use regular old browser frames - one being the "retriever" and one being the display page.

- C) Using a JS function in the display page to make a http request for a supplementary .js file(s).

Please note: the goal is to retrieve *only* an additional set of Javascript functions from the server, and then add them to an "original" set of functions already loaded into the browser. Meaning, NOT - say - for an IFrame to download from the server *both* the additional set and again the "original" set, which the parent display page could then run directly from the IFrame.

After "A", "B", and "C", I'm at a loss for further ideas.

AJAX :: Functions Never Work With PHP - Tree Folder Which Calls Another Page To Be Loaded Into A DIV By AJAX Again

Apr 14, 2009

I'm creating an AJAX page that is built using a PHP Class, ie the php looks a bit like this: PHP Code:

$wp_page->addjs('../var/savepolicies.js')
$wp_parser->page = "userpolicywindow.php";
$wp_parser->addlink("Home","../index.php","");
$wp_parser->addlink("Logout","javascript:logout();","");
$wp_parser->getpageid("501");
[Code]...

within this page that has been created, there is an AJAX tree folder which calls another page to be loaded into a DIV by AJAX again. Code:

[Code]...

I don't know why it doesn't work because the page has been loaded with the JS file, but as soon as the link is added afterwards it doesn't work. I take it this is because it doesn't know where to find the JS, but how can I overcome this?

JQuery :: .click() And .submit() Functions Do Not Work On HTML Elements Inserted After Page Has Loaded

Jul 26, 2010

I have a page that inserts a div after another div on my page. Basically this div and its content are generated by the server and outputted via Ajax when the user clicks a button.I have something like:

//Listener function
$("div").click( function () {
alert("thing");
});

Clicking any of the divs that were loaded on the page will give this alert however, clicking on this div that was inserted after the user clicks a button does not respond to this listener. I put my rendered html into the w3c validator and my page has no errors (because I thought that maybe I had a missing end tag which would cause jquery to not work).

JQuery :: UI Elements - Adding Variables To Objects

Sep 7, 2010

I'm making some jQuery UI elements, and once an element is created, I want to add some custom functions and variables - I don't want to clutter up other jQuery objects by putting the functions in all jQuery objects, and obviously, the variables need to be different between different objects. However, the issue is, when I re-acquire the item, I won't have access to the variable any more.

That was probably confusing. Another way of putting it:
(function($){
var _MyUI_id=0;
jQuery.fn.MyUICreate = function(opts){
this.each(function(){
var obj=$(this)

//... code to turn the object into a MyUI object omitted to be concise
obj.MyUI_id = _MyUI_id;
_MyUI_id++;
}}

})(jQuery)
//now, create one
$('#some_div').MyUICreate({});
//The desired effect would be to give me the id in #14, instead I get 'undefined'.
alert($('#some_div').MyUI_id);

My 'solution', is to create an object variable in jQuery.fn called 'Collections'. It's indexes are the names of the new types, and each contains an object, the keys of which are the IDs of the UI elements that are converted to the type, and the values the jQueries objects. This is not only hackish, but it has a LOT of potential bugs. The code for this would look like:

This is in the 'create' function, at the end.
jQuery.fn.Collections.MyUI[obj.attr('id')]=obj;

This is outside of the create function, but within the (function($){...}) scope.
//jQuery.fn.Collections is set to {} in another file.
jQuery.fn.Collections.MyUI={};
jQuery.fn.GetMyUI(id){
return jQuery.fn.Collections.MyUI(id);
}
This will allow the first block of code to work as desired, but it inserts a whole new set of bugs. What are the common ways to achieve what I am trying to do?

JQuery :: Adding OPTION Elements To SELECT?

Aug 3, 2010

I have an interesting issue. I use an old, CSS-style tabbed page that sets a style on a <div> containing an <iframe> to display:block if the tab is clicked, and display:none if the tab is not currently selected. This works fine and is not the issue, just background information....In one of the pages that is currently set to display:none, I remove all the options and add new ones based on a data return from an ajax query. If I do this in a more traditional direct DOM manipulating Javascript fashion, everything is OK and the select remains unseen. However, doing this using jQuery causes the select to appear and bleed-through to the <iframe> content that is currently visible.

document.forms[0].test_select.options.length = 0;
document.forms[0].test_select.options[0] = new Option("--- TESTING ---");
