JQuery :: AJAX Call Unable To Access Localhost / Fix This?

Jun 30, 2010

I'm pulling data from a database using a RESTlet server, and using Flot to produce a graph.

My problem is that whenever I make the following AJAX call, I get an "Access to restricted URI denied" error on Firefox. On Internet Explorer I have other problems, but I can tell by my server logs that at least the AJAX call happens, which is more than I can say for Firefox. code...

The url is correct, and the server is hosted on this machine, but Firefox thinks it's trying access another domain. The html file containing this code is located on my hard drive.

How can I get Firefox to allow this AJAX call?

AJAX :: Mysql_query() Call Returns 'access Denied' Using XML HTTP Req Object

Aug 31, 2010

I am getting an error to a mysql_query() call: Access denied for user 'SYSTEM'@'localhost' (using password: NO)' in path 'C:PHPClassesMySQLDbClass.php' at line 1078 This is coming from using a XML HTTP Request object (AJAX) to send form data to the server requesting my DB records interface script page, ajaxRecordsInterface.php. In using PHP sessions, I have no problem going from a logged-in-select-activity PHP document to an activity controlled by a PHP document that does records interface. But apparently an XML HTTP Request object has a different session than a PHPdoc-2-PHPdoc session. Is that so?

Here is MORE DETAIL: I am building first a version of a web-based database interaction using MySQL that does not use page reloads, so that means I am using Ajax/XML HTTP request object/Javascript (later I build the version that does script-free page reloads to show db updates/refreshes). I have no problem with login whose first PHP document gets user information and presents it, as well as a menu of links to how to interact with the DB. One of the options is to add/edit/delete student records.

In the PHP document which is the DB records interface, I have a scrollable HTML table at the document top with one table row for each record. Below it is an empty form, whose fields get populated when the user clicking on a record in a table row. Note that all fields for the records in the table rows were delivered as a Javascript array with a maximum of 50 or a 100 contiguous records in the MySQL table. (More optimizations may be done later, such as creating a Javascript array as a "cache" of the last 20 or so selected records.) I don't have problems making mysql_query() calls in a series of PHP document requests. I call session_start() to get session variables, one of which is a serialized MySQLDatabase class object which I unserialize to get the object again. The problem is the XML HTTP Request to a PHP document designed to interact with it is a different PHP session from a page-to-page session.

Ajax :: Use PHP With Files On Localhost?

Sep 7, 2010

For Ubuntu 10.04, Apache 2, PHP5 and MySQL 5, Firefox 3.6. (I already had Apache, Mysql and Firefox installed, so only added PHP5 via the synaptic manager a couple of days ago).

I have only just started with Ajax and PHP and obtained some demo files from w3schools.com (by googling on 'Ajax PHP database') that I named w3.html and getuser.php. These show how to find person details in a MySQL data base and send them back to be displayed by a browser. They work when Firefox accesses the demo at w3schools.com.

I put these files into directory /var/www on my PC (the upload file directory) and tried via Firefox, but got this error showing in the Firefox Error console:

I also obtained a similar demo from [url]. It failed in the same way, but worked when accessing www.tizag.com directly.

I googled on permutations of 'Ajax', 'XMLHTTPRequest' and 'no element found' and noticed that many have had this problem. A few said that this problem occurs when the Ajax-side expects XML but gets HTML from the server, but did not give any solutions.

PHP works when I put 'localhost/getuser.php?q=2' into the Firefox addressbar. It generates the result table which looks well-formed to me.

I then modified the eventhandler onreadystatechange to

Code:

And found:

i) The status code returned is always 0 (not 200 or any other 3-digit http return code).

ii) The text returned is the content of the getuser.php file, not the content generated by executing the PHP code.

iii) The 'no element found' error is still shown

My intention was to learn and experiment with Ajax and PHP on my local PC, but it did not work. Can it be done, or do I have to get a website and use FTP to upload?

w3.html

Code:

w3.html:

Code:

Use mysql command source w3demo.sql from the MySQL command line.

JQuery :: Unable To Access The Raw CSS Code That Has Been Loaded For The Specific Page?

Feb 24, 2011

I would like to be able to access the raw CSS code that has been loaded for the specific page. I'm not looking to change the code (I know how to use jQuery for CSS manipulation etc...) I just want to parse through it and extract some useful information.I considered just loading the stylesheet references in the page, then placing a request to the server for the .css file, but this feels messy even if the browser happens to have the page cached from having just requested it.Has anyone got a clue as to how one would go about this? As always, I think its best if it uses jQuery XD, however, I just really want to get this done

JQuery :: Unable To Activate Slideup/down From Within Ajax

Sep 20, 2009

I have a page that I am using, where when a link is clicked a div on the page has its content changed based on which link is clicked. I use jquery to cause the Div to slide into existence when the link is clicked. What im trying to do now is make it so that, when an image is clicked from within the div, that it slides out of existence again.

<script language="javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#toggleButton').click(function() {
if ($('#toggleSection').is(":hidden"))

[Code].....

That code works great for the menu, making the div slide into and out of existence. However the menu is a drop down menu and I'd like to be able to close the div without having to go back to the menu. So I tried putting an image into the content that gets loaded, with a link similar to the ones in the menu, but when it gets clicked nothing happens.

I've tried a number of different things, from creating a special function for it, to assigning extra classes and trying to catch the click by the images class instead of its ID, ive made sure that clicking on the image was working but inserting an Alert and that worked, but the slideup/down did not.

JQuery :: Unable To Select An Image Loaded Via AJAX?

Aug 7, 2010

I am using the code below to load a resource via AJAX that contains a <ul id="photoCollection"> . That list has an image in each of its <li> tags. This markup and images are getting loaded as expected into the target Div#photoCollectionWrapper.

$('#photoCollectionWrapper').load('/photo_collections/1/photos', photosLoaded());

Once the images are loaded into the target div with AJAX I need to select them so I can alter their widths and heights. So far, I have been unable to select them as expected once they are loaded. However, If I just load them in a new page with NO AJAX, then buy using a simple .load() event handler I am able to select them after they have completely loaded as expected. No problem.

But when loading the resource via AJAX I am unable to select them at all. I am using a callback that gets fired after the AJAX is loaded. Then in there it seems "logical" to call my .load() handler on the images loaded in via AJAX. Here's a sample of some code just to illustrate the idea. The code below actually will not run at all. If I remove the .load() bit it will, but then Alert always returns null.

function photosLoaded() {
$('#photoCollection li img').load(function() {
alert($('#photoCollection li img').height());
}
}

I have also tried many css selector variations to try and select the target images, but to no avail. I know for sure photosLoaded() is getting called. I just can't select the elements that the AJAX call brought in.

JQuery :: Unable To Parse Fragment After Loading Html Via Ajax?

Feb 13, 2011

I am loading an entire page in ajax, but I just want to load a fragment from it. Using the .load() function, you can do this by adding a selector after your url like 'getPage.php #myDiv' etc, how to do it using the .ajax method.

I did some googling and found this solution:

$.ajax({
url: 'AjaxTest2.htm',
data: {},
cache: false,

[Code].....

I'm trying to get the "d1" div to be populated with the contents of the "my2" div on the second page. I don't want to use the .load() function, I want to use the .ajax() function. I can get this to work if I just use: $('#d1').html(data); instead of $('#d1').html($(data).find('#my2')); but the former results in the entire html contents of the second page being placed into the "d1" div, and I only want the fragement.

AJAX :: Call Based On Results Of A Previous Call

Dec 14, 2010

The general framework is a simple user login function. The user name is selected and a password entered as usual. The function grabs the element values and passes them to a php page that queries the database. An AJAX call returns the password to the function and then I want the innerHTML to be a choice of two web pages, depending on success or failure of validation. There are existing AJAX functions available on the internet but they are overly complicated for what I think should be a simple, quick to load function.

Where I am stuck is that the standard procedure to make an AJAX call is the browser window event. How do you make the call from within the function? I have tried creating two new variables, "success" and "again" to replace xmlhttp, but still stumble on the event to assign a value. I left the blank password protection (if statement) with that variable to demonstrate what I mean.

I've put in my code below, which is in development and successfully alters the innerHTML text depending on user input but I can't figure out how to insert the relevant php page. I have '// out' the testing bits, but left them for info. (I have tried full 'scripting' as the innerHTML, but it's messy.)

JQuery :: Access Data Outside Ajax Callback?

Apr 2, 2011

The answer to my question is probably very simple, but I'm having trouble making this work.

I want to access a local csv file, rearrange it into an array, and use the data later in my script. The logic of this in psuedocode is [code]...

Since the massaged data are in the callback, they're not available at ***. I've tried declaring the variables outside the callback as shown, but this doesn't seem to work either. I'm thinking there must be an easier way. Is there?

JQuery :: Ajax - Access Data Arguments In Callback?

Sep 17, 2009

Is it possible to access the data arguments that are sent with the ajax function? Example:

$('#mycheckbox').click( function() {
$.get( '/ajax.php', { nr: this.id }, function( data, textStatus ) {
// Here I want to access the arguments I just sent with ajax.php

[Code]....

I could easily do $('#mycheckbox').attr('checked', 'checked'); but that is not what I want. Also I don't want to send the arguments with the response. Anyone knows a solution? I can't find it in the documentation of jQuery and not in the discussions here.
