Unable To Access Custom Property
Jan 21, 2011
I'm having trouble accessing a custom property that I've created for an object. Does anyone see the problem with this code? this.imageSrcs is undefined inside of getImages.

To remove the results if someone clicks anywhere on the page outside the results list i've used currentTarget on a transparent fullscreen div at the top of the page to clear the results.
It works perfectly in ff, ie9, chrome, safari & opera. But when trying it in ie 7 and ie 8 it shows the results but won't remove them. The console is returning this:
SCRIPT5007: Unable to get value of the property 'id': object is null or undefined
Any ideas what this could be. I've search for bugs online but it didn't bring anything I could work out.

my browser is not able to access the javascript of css file from the location. Its saying What might be the reasons
<p>
The requested URL was not found on this server.
If you entered the URL manually please check your
spelling and try again.

I dont understand y.
1> The files are correct and in the location . The alphabets are also of correct case, since its a linux system.
2> I tried to reload the page using shift + contrl + R
3> tried to clear the cache from the browser.
Only doubt i have is that , the path is a relative path. samething like -script=>{-language=>'JAVASCRIPT',-src=>'../pickdate.js'}

I'm currently working on an AJAX chat room (jpfchat), which is basically phpfreechat integrated with Joomla. The right column of the room shows current users in the room and refreshes dynamically via AJAX so when new users come in, everyone's session shows the new visitor. I want to be able to customize the script so it pulls custom user info from the Joomla DB. I'm attempting to do this using AJAX.
I located the part of the script that generates the list of usernames. Basically it's a 'for' loop that spits out html using javascript and the JSON response. I've appended a line to this section to execute my custom script. The problem I'm having is that while everything works great on IE, it only works on Safari if I DON'T use asynchronous and it DOESN'T work on EITHER Safari or Firefox if I DO use asynchronous.

I need to acsess an object property via variables, but don't get ahead.
Example:
var property = height;
"height" is a property of the object "flower". Now, I need a possibility to access "flower.height" with my variable property, means -->"flower.property" I tried everything like "flower.[property]" "flower.['property']" etc. but nothing did help.

I've been having this issue with Javascript that is just not getting resolved for a while. What I am basically doing is building a simple web browser extension that injects javascript on certain pages. I am using Firefox, Chrome and Safari. The issue I am having is accessing these so called "special properties" on a particular page. They look like the regular classNames, id, textContent and such but don't appear to be standard. It would be very helpful if I can access them.
A particular example would be in Yahoo Mail. When you are in your inbox you have list of messages. With each message row there are associated attributes. You can get to them with your web inspector or if you search for the div element with id "PagedTableView_wrapper", then follow the first child and then second child and you get a list of these messages being rendered. Each one of those rows has the regular className properties and such but also has "_checked", "_focused", "_selected" that look like custom Yahoo ones. I basically want to read those.
The issue is I can't. I always end up getting a null exception, as if it doesn't exist. I can read the className and the other standard ones fine, but not the special ones. (I've verified its the same element as well). I have tried the DOM navigation route with indexing, jQuery and XPATH, all with the same result. The weird part is that I can see them with the webInspector! Whats even more strange is that if I run firebug or commands in the Console, it actually works! But it doesn't work for my injected code/extension! Baffled.

in the body tag, I have this code (just to test):
<script LANGUAGE="javascript">
<!--
function hiThere() {
alert("hi");
return true;
}
//-->
</script>
in the head section, I have this code:
<script LANGUAGE="javascript">
<!--
document.body.onload=hiThere();

By the way, I know someone will comment, by "does not work, I mean on
the load of the page, the alert is not displayed, nor are any errors.

I'm pulling data from a database using a RESTlet server, and using Flot to produce a graph.
My problem is that whenever I make the following AJAX call, I get an "Access to restricted URI denied" error on Firefox. On Internet Explorer I have other problems, but I can tell by my server logs that at least the AJAX call happens, which is more than I can say for Firefox. code...
The url is correct, and the server is hosted on this machine, but Firefox thinks it's trying access another domain. The html file containing this code is located on my hard drive.
How can I get Firefox to allow this AJAX call?

This error ONLY occurs in IE. "Unexpected call to method or property access."
I pinpointed it to this line:
o.appendChild(e);
The full function is:
function aO(d, t, src, p, id ){
alert('aO has begun.');
var o, e, i;
if (!ie){ o = cE('object');o.data = src; }
else { o = cE('embed');o.src = src; } .....

I have WordPress installed in a directory of my website, and I'm using an iframe on the homepage to embed the blog. I'm using a javascript code that I found online to automatically resize the iframe based on the content inside of it. This is the code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function resizeIframe()
{[code]...
This works perfectly in Google Chrome. However, in Firefox I get this error in the console:
Error: Permission denied to access property 'document'
Source File: http://mysite.com/index1.html
Line: 24
I don't have any experience with javascript, but this makes no sense to me, because it should work since the iframe document is on the same domain and server as the parent page. The parent is[url]...." and the iframe document is [url].....Why is Firefox complaining about this? It shouldn't violate the "same origin policy" that I have read about.

I would like to be able to access the raw CSS code that has been loaded for the specific page. I'm not looking to change the code (I know how to use jQuery for CSS manipulation etc...) I just want to parse through it and extract some useful information.I considered just loading the stylesheet references in the page, then placing a request to the server for the .css file, but this feels messy even if the browser happens to have the page cached from having just requested it.Has anyone got a clue as to how one would go about this? As always, I think its best if it uses jQuery XD, however, I just really want to get this done

I'm very new to jQuery and registered a new account on the website yesterday. I can log in using my account details OK, but when I try to use the Plugins section of the site I get :- Access denied You are not authorized to access this page.
If I try to search for a pluging, I get

I can't find a FAQ section in the forums, or any link on the site to contact the website admins, so I'm hoping someone here may be able to help, or at least point me in the direction of someone who can.

I've tested it in most recent versions of IE, FF, Opera, and Safari.
The first parameter is the alert's text, if a second parameter is passed, it is the alert's title, else it will just have "Alert" in the title.
You can fire the function as many times as you like, any alert's thrown after the first will set themselves on top of each other slightly staggered much like the built in alert.
The alert will automatically be placed in a visible place regardless of where the page has scrolled. They will also stay in that same place in relation to the screen if the user scrolls after the alert has fired.
The top most alert is the only one clickable and moveable until it has been acknowledged (Much like a regular alert).
The benefit of this is that it does not freeze the user's interface once the alert is thrown.
Here's the code:

I know that I can read/write custom properties of an object by using
the following:
Setting:
document.all['Control'].customProp = "this";
Getting:
document.all['Control'].customProp;
Is there a way I can run code when this custom property is set. Or
perhaps there is a way to create a custom method?
Example:
<span id="MySpan"><input type="text"></span>
I'd the property:
document.all['MySpan'].enabled = true;
To automatically do this:
document.all['MySpan'].controls[0].disabled = !thevalue;
OR the method
document.all['MySpan'].enable();
To do this:
document.all['MySpan'].disabled = false;

I try to associate DOM nodes with other objects. Assigning custom
properties to DOM nodes works in Firefox and Safari. It also works with
HTML nodes in IE6. However, it appears not to work with XML nodes that
are part of trees returned by XMLHttpRequest. How can I work around this
limitation? For XML nodes, I need to be able to associate at most one
object with each node.
The syntax I am using is
node.customproperty = value

I can do anything I would like in terms of calling methods with mozilla

between the tag.
Is there a work around for IE. What gives with IE and being able to
