I've got resizable divs:
$(document).ready(function() {
$
(".draggit").resizable({

I prefer jQuery over flash and not sure how to tackle this, so please advise as best you can. Trying to create a site that allows for images to go full browser and then have the ability to have the other images slide in based on a click.
I also want to float a menu that will allow it to pull in other media (video, that would slide in the same way). The best example I can share is this: http://j.mp/5U79i1 What he is using is flash based (slideshowpro director and slideshow pro for flash). Not interested in flash for this personal project.
Is there a way to call javascript functions based on the text between a span element? In other words if I have <span id="mySpan">Bronze</span> then it will call a javascript function but if I have <span id="mySpan">Silver</span> then it will call a different function?

I have some javascript that works in IE, but not in Firefox:Basically, I just want to replace the contents of a span element. Nothing fancy. But all my google searches come up blank, and I'm having a bit of a brain fart.Can anyone show me what is the proper cross-browser method to dynamically replace the text inside a span element?(I did it originally with replaceChild, but after about 500 calls to the js function, the page reloads, and that is not good.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to be able to display dynamic HTML inside a DIV (can't tell what the html nodes would be) - i.e needs to be flexible. The HTML that goes inside the DIV would have its own Javascript too. I was able to get this code snippet working on Microsoft IE7+, was wondering why the same won't work on firefox.
HTML Code:
<html>
<head>
<script>
/* the input type = hidden is necessary or the JS won't be accessible */
/* script defer tag is also necessary */
function insertHTMLOnButtonPress() {
var s = "<html><input type='hidden' id='dummyHidden'/><head><script defer='defer'>function dynamicallyInsertedFunction() { alert('Successfully called - dynamicallyInsertedFunction'); } </sc" + "ript></head><body><input type='text' value='Hello World'/><input type='button' onClick='dynamicallyInsertedFunction();' value='Call Dynamically Inserted Method'/></body></html>";
/* Clearing out innerHTML is also required to flush the innerHTML so that repeated attempts - i.e new HTML/JS should work */
document.getElementById('wholeBody').innerHTML = '';
document.getElementById('wholeBody').innerHTML = s;
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<br/>
<!-- Don't close the div inline, causes some problem and replaces the buttons too -->
<div id="wholeBody"></div>
<br/>
<input type="button" onClick="insertHTMLOnButtonPress();" value="Insert some dynamic html"/>
<input type="button" onClick="dynamicallyInsertedFunction();" value="Call Dynamically Inserted Method"/>
</body>
</html>
I have tried a couple of things likeRemove the script defer tag
- Removing the dummy input element added which is required for Desktop IE
- Removing the empty innerHTML step before replacing it
But none of these appear to work for Mozilla firefox. I am also looking for a similar behavior on Android's default webbrowser (WebView to be more specific) -- Doesn't work there too.
I have written a number of functions designed to return frequency data on 1000 randomly chosen numbers using different math functions for the rounding. I would like to include all of these functions within the wrapper of another function so that only one call is needed to get returns from all of the 'inner' functions. However, while each of the functions works in isolation, the moment I wrap them in another function they stop working. :confused:
The following code is one of the functions 'frequencyWrapperOne' that has been wrapped in the function 'testWrapper'. A call to testWrapper does nothing.
function testWrapper()
{
function frequencyWrapperOne()
{

I have two onload functions. The first one works when the second one isn't in the code. But when both functions are present, only the second one works.
here's the code:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
onload=function(){
var divs=document.getElementById('stars').getElementsByTagName('div'), d, i=0;
while(d=divs[i++]){
[Code]....
Basically the code allows you to click on a star to rate a field in a form.
I cant get my cookie to work. I believe its not my javascript that is wrong. Can anyone take a look to see what i did wrong in my cookie? I have to pages dropdown1.html and dropdown2.html. Both pages have the same exact dropdown list. There is also a javascript file called script.js which makes it so you get an error if you select the same option on the second drop down list as the first. Also in the script.js i have a cookie that should run so dropdown2.html should now what was selected in dropdown1.html Can anyone see if i made a mistake in either my javascript code in my cookie? Right now I am not getting the error message if you select the same option as the first. Ill show all my code incase you need it for reference
dropdown1.html

Code:
Script.js (this is the part where I cant figure out why the error message does not appear on the second dropdown menu if user selects the same option as the first)

I found this script for a navigation fade-in/fade-out and I want to modify it so it'll only trigger the fade-in/fade-out functions of the span class is NOT set to active. Here is the javascript:
Code:
$(function() {
$("#nav ul#menu li span.active").css("opacity","1");
$("#nav ul#menu li span.active").hover("opacity","1");[code].....
It's the part of the code beneath the comment CONDITIONALS BELOW that I want to be able to only trigger it if span is not set to class .active.
I'm trying to replace a lot of my prior flash work with JQuery whenever a new project comes up. Although I mostly used Action Script 2 I did start working in AS 3 so the basis of JQuery makes sense to me.
As an experiment, I wanted to try adding a span tag around a link inside a dom. The DOM itself was created through Drupal, so simply adding a span tag in the html is not easy, or maybe even possible.
I created a .js file and linked it in my template file. Firebug tells me that the file is being read. Inside the file I have this script;
And part of the DOM I'm trying to manipulate
I check out the results and nothing is added to the DOM. I know I must be missing a line of script somewhere..
I have a bulletted list on one side, and when the user rolls over, information (text and sometimes a picture) about the topic pops up on the right side. I'm retrieving simple html files and using Javascript innerHTML to accomplish this. Everything is working perfectly in Firefox and Opera. In Internet Explorer, I have a very strange bug. The text appears just fine, but images in the html files don't. There is just a blank space the size of the image. There's no little "can't find image" icon either, just blank space. Here's my code:
function showtext(filename){
if (!document.getElementById) return;
if(navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer")

I'm building a gallery and i have a couple of thumbnails. There is always 1 active thumbnail (opacity 100%) of the showing image and several inactive thumbnails (opacity 50%).
I've build some functions to catch clicks for those functions:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".galleryinactivethumb").click(function(){
$(".galleryactivethumb").removeClass('galleryactivethumb').addClass('galleryinactivethumb');

I'm aware that innerHTML does not work well with IE when it comes to tables. I've got a script that works well in firefox but I can't seem to get it to play with IE. How to make it work with IE short of redoing all of it?
Javascript Function
Code JavaScript:
function insertConditionData(){
var details = "<tbody>";
for(var i=0; i<conditions.length; i++) {
var con = conditions[i];
details += '<tr>'+
'<td width="20%">'+con.test+'</td>'+
'<td width="8%">'+con.test1+'</td>'+
'<td width="7%">'+con.test2+'</td>'+
'</tr>';
} details += "</tbody>";
document.getElementById("problems-details-table").innerHTML = details;
}
Code HTML4Strict:
<table id="problems-details-table">

I have a select option drop down menu and I'm using onChange in order to write text in a div. But, when I test the drop down nothing is happening.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi looked in one of my other projects that i recently finished, and the code seems to be identical.Basically it should generate an array of Canvases where individual letters can be written. Later other javascript code will try to determine which letter was written (letter recognition).The error that i keep getting is "ChangeThisID is Null".

how can I get/set text from <style> tag? innerHTML doesn't work in IE 7 (8?) and neither does
document.getElementsByTagName("style")[0].firstChild.nodeValue = "";

i need to ask the user for details about a car, i will not know how many cars are going to be stored and therefore need an array i think. I need the function for asking the user and will need to repeat the code later in a menu. at this stage i just want to ask the user for input, store it in array and use an alert to check if it works?

// Ask user for REG info, CAR MAKE, car VIN

I have come across a problem with the onKeyDown event in some of my forms.
I'm using onKeyDown in <form> as a standard method to open my help screen
system throughout my system, but I have discovered that If I have a
<div></div> section somewhere and then load the contents of it from another
file using innerHTML after the main window is loaded, the onKeyDown event
doesn't trigger any more.
I'm using IE6 and the structure is:
I want multiple images to be able to call this function and run it as planned. This is my question, how do you make it so that the name of the tag can be dynamic in the function. if I don't make myself clear, here's my code if it helps.

<title>Example</title>

Ok, so this isn't EXACTLY my code, but it's exactly the same thing as what I'm doing. I just gave some parts easier names, so it's easier to follow. Oh, and if I forgot to say, this is an image swap.
I have some code that is basically loading an XSL stylesheet into a div. How do I change the appendChild(resultDocument) part so that it doesn't append. I just want the contents of the div to be overwritten. I tried using innerHTML=resultDocument but that just results in a message that says "[object DocumentFragment]".

I don't really know how to say this, that's why I'm going to show you some code which will hopefully point out what I mean.This is what I wrote yesterday:
var div = $('<div></div>').attr('id','box').fadeIn(1250);
$('body').append(div);
This worked well, but then I wanted to make a function to be able to change the innerHTML of that div but it didn't work.
function changeContent(content) {
var box = $('#box');
box.html(content);

why the string comparison test doesn't work in this javascript function? It works if you use just text between the currentItem div tags, but not when you use html for an image. I even tried to use iso characters instead of angle brackets, as in "<img src=expand.png></img>" and still no dice. Why not?

<script language="JavaScript">
function toggleValue()
{
if(document.getElementById("currentItem").innerHTML != "<img src=expand.png></img>")
