I am trying to create an image viewer with javascript and CSS. Unfortunately however, the onclick events in my image tags seem to work every once in a while for a few page loads then for some reason they just stop working completely and seemingly for no reason at all (i.e. I dont change any code). I've been messing around with this for at least a couple of weeks now and cant figure it out, so it is time to hit up the forums.
I am trying to make a change to my website so when someone clicks on the chinese flag image, for example, a function which put the clock forward a few hours.
Trying to get my one of my divs when clicked to call a function but it doesn't seem to be working???I just noticed that only one solid pixel in the div border which i will eventually set to 0px calls the function but I want it so the whole div area calls it??
I have a small portal website with some ads around. I'm in the process of creating an ads manager script with php and mysql and would like to know when an ad was clicked. I'm confused on how to do this but, the only way I can think of is by adding an onclick even to every ad img:
HTML Code: <a onclick="callfunction('ad_id');" href="ad url"><img src="path"></a>
Now, how would I call a php function with onclick? I guess that can be done with ajax but, don't know much on how to use it?
I have a button that I wish to call a predefined function (Go()) shown below, but, I wish part of the URL that is sent to the function be inputted by the user.
function Go(URL) { window.location = URL; }
Here is the code I have for the button, but I am getting a syntax error. What do I need to do?
<input type="button" value="Duplicate" onclick="Go(CustomerMailingList-duplicate.asp?ID=<%=rs(strPrimaryKeyFieldRecordset)%>&CustNum=prompt('Enter New Cust #', '0')">
I have a web page a lot of thumbnail images arranged in a table. I would like the user to be able to click on the thumbnail to open a window with a larger view of the image.
So I wrote a JS function to accept a URL as the argument and open a new pop-up window with the given parameters. I need this function to potentially run multiple times from multiple links (in this case images) on the same page. However, after the first time I click the link, the function runs, and I close the pop-up, the function will not run again if I click the same or another link on the page. If I refresh the page, the function will work once and then not again. Is there a buffer I need to clear or something to reset to allow multiple links to work?
I have tried the function call in a whole slew of ways. Here's my current code (I "..."'ed out the URLs for brevity):
Is it possible to set an html element's (created through HTML DOM's createElement() method) 'onclick' attribute's value to a Javascript function which requires a parameter, passing a variable to it at the same time?
I have the following Javascript code:
var parentDiv = document.getElementById("subscribers"); var stubSpan = document.createElement("span"); stubSpan.id = "opentok_subscriber_" + stream.streamId; stubSpan.onclick = showStreamInFullScreenMode(stream); parentDiv.appendChild(stubSpan);
'stream' in the bolded line is a parameter variable of the function that the above code is in, and I'm trying to pass it to another function using an onclick event.
I have a few buttons on a page I'm developing and I want the onclick event to call a javascript function in an external file and execute it. I would like to be able to pass a parameter to that function and then either have the function take the user to a new URL or make changes to the webpage content.
Initially (just to test) I had inline javascript that caused an alert to popup. That worked fine. Next I took the inline code and put it in a function in an external javascript file that was referenced in the HTML:
Code: <div id="div1" onclick="function1()"> <img src="image1.jpg /> <div id="div2" onclick="function2()"> <img src="image2.jpg /> </div> </div> When I click image1, function1 is called.. but when I click image2, function2 is called first, then function1 is called..I want to call function2 alone when i click image2..
In my website I have a slideshow that is working properly with this jQuery code: Code: $(function(){$('.fadein img:gt(0)').hide(); setInterval(function(){ $('.fadein :first-child').fadeOut(2000) .next('img').fadeIn(2000) .end().appendTo('.fadein');}, 5000); });
In another page I call one HTML file by the function .load with some imgs sources exactly as I have in my main page slideshow that is working well. The problem is that this last slideshow (that I call the images with the .load function) is not working properly as you can see here (too hard to explain, better just see, 1st thumbnail). I call the HTML file with this code: Code: $('#hab_ab').click(function(){ $('#target').removeClass('thumbs').load('slideshows/arq/hab/boavista/ab_ss.html'); I use .removeClass because of the positioning...
Basically I want to have a different background image for every time of the day. The function by itself works okay with onclick or onload placed in body.
function changesky() { document.getElementById("sky").style.background="url(back_morning.jpg) repeat-x";
I want to use an image map for something unique. The image would have about 10 to 15 (religious) symbols. When the user clicks on a particular symbol it will search the site for a few strings relating to that symbol. For example: Symbol 1 would be a cross when clicked it search the site for "christ, crucifix, christianity". I am sure I can make the image map but how do I make the image map call a function instead of a link.
I am making a small gallery script. When a user clicks an image, I would like for a function to be called that tells the browser where that image is located in an object. For example:
[Code]...
It works, I just don't like it because it is messy and it seems sensible that some workaround exists.
Trying to click (onClick) an animated gif image of an on/off switch to start a second animation which is located on a different location on the web-page (a 7-frame animation of a generator with moving parts) immediately followed by a random image selection function placing an image in a 3rd location on the page (next to the generator image). The random images are supposed to look like the result of the generator animation---the item that pops out of the generator.
We thought the process to achieve this would be an OnClick on the on/off switch-animated-gif to start two javascript functions (generato animation function & random image function). To further complicate matters, we are doing this website in iWeb. Were using iWeb SEO Tool to add the javascript to the header and HTML snippet in iWeb to place the HTML code. Not sure were actually doing the snippet right though---is it supposed to relate to the images---or is it separate? When the gifs are place on the iweb page, they work in the browser upon page load---the on-click & the random image function are NOT working...so we know weve done something(s) wrong.
Were thinking that were probably missing some code that describes where the 3 different image-spots are on the page (image #1 is the on/off switch gif, image#2 is the generator gif, image#3 is the generator output.png)....or just arent coding the string of functions correctly---or maybe our strategy for achieving this is just no correct (?).Here is the code we have tried that didnt work.
[CODE] script language = JAVASCRIPT> <!-- Hide script from old browsers function gif_animation(){
Can anyone assist me with what I am trying to do with the following code (six different scenarios to try to make the functionality work correctly)?
I want to always (and ONLY) display in the status bar 'Symantec Corporation' whenever anyone mouses over (onMouseOver) my image or link OR when one clicks while holding the left mouse down (onClick) on the same image or link. Upon releasing the mouse (onMouseOut), the status bar should be 'blank'. I need the link to open in a new window via my function openWindow(URL) code.
What is happening in most of the six scenarios, is that when one clicks the link, either the function doesn't engage, but rather the <a href= takes effect instead OR that status bar shows 'javascript:openWindow('http://www.symantec.com/');' when one clicks while holding the left mouse down (onClick) on the image or link.
Additionally, for only the link, I need the CSS/style to show 'red' when one mouses over (onMouseOver) it and then change to 'blue' upon releasing the mouse (onMouseOut).
How about integrating 'style="cursor:hand"' into the code or perhaps setting some of the data via a <div> or <span> snippet? Code:
<button onClick="return popup('<span onClick='selectShape(1, 1, 1)'>test<span>');" tabindex=Ɖ' onFocus="setFocusColor(0,3)">....</button> This will work perfectly, but as soon as I need to pass Strings inside the selectShape function, I get stuck.
So the question is, how can I create the following and have it working
what's the correct syntax to call 2 functions from an onclick attribute? the code below doesnt work, maybe im putting semi colons in the wrong place? since the second function needs the return false, im guessing i should put that one last since return false would stop anything after that from running.
the inc_down function is part of a AJAX implementation. I want that this function be be executed when i click the div and in the same time the a href to work. In the code above the onclick does not work, only a href works. I have searched the net and the code above is the best i've found but it does not work.
I have a JavaScript image gallery that loads in a DIV. I have 4 different Galleries - each with their own image array stored in it's own External JavaScript file.
What I want to do, is when you click on a link to any of the 4 galleries that an onclick function calls the relevant external JavaScript file and then loads the array of images in the same DIV. I want to remain on the same page at all times...just a different array of images is seen by the user in the DIV.
Does anybody have an idea how to call CGI on a onclick event when link is clicked. This is a sample that works in some situations but sometimes new page loading is to fast.
I am calling the dialog box from a form.The dialog opens another form.I need to send the dialog box parameter of values being captured on the first form.Because the dialog box is being called on: document.ready, I can't get the values being capture on the first form.document.getElementById is empty since on document.ready, the user didn't capture anything yet.Is there a way to call the dialog box on: onClick and not on document.ready?
This button changes the button text when clicked, but it is always calling the same function. How to make the button depending on the button text to call different functions on onclick?
[CODE] <script type = "text/javascript"> function button_switch(){
