Ajax :: Pass Id In Onclick To Call?
Aug 22, 2011
I'm trying to pass the id of the ul li item clicked to a select*FROM 'id' statement. I keep getting the following errors in the responce.
Quote:
Notice: Undefined index: i in D:use_ide_1UniServerwwwgetproduct.php on line 2
Notice: Undefined variable: i in D:use_ide_1UniServerwwwgetproduct.php on line 7
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ''..'' at line 1
This is the External.js
Code:
function getproduct(){
if(i=' '){
document.getElementById('f1').innerHTML=' ';[code]....

I'm admittedly a novice when it comes to AJAX. I can get stuff to work, typically, but really have no idea what's going on. I copied the original code from another source.
Now, something a bit more complicated is coming up and I can't get it to work.
Here's the script I'm using to start; the one that I typically use that works fine code...

I need to load a content management system webpage on the front end system using .net, for that i'm storing my page URL's in sql database,
I'm now reading the page url using javascript and putting it in a variable, i now need to pass this Variable to my .aspx page using AJAX Call.
How can i pass my own parameters to ajax call and in response i need to print the content from the database in my .html page.
how to do this?

Here's my problem code:
document.onclick=handler;
function handler(e) {
//do stuff
var params = "something";
var request = new XMLHttpRequest();
request.open("GET", "http://www.foo.com/bar.php?" + params, true);
[Code]....
Now is user clicks something else but not a link everything works just fine. But if she clicks a link, the bar.php call does not work (never comes to the server). If I change the call to a synchronuous one request.open("GET", [URL] false) also clicking a link works fine. But I would of course prefer the async way.

The general framework is a simple user login function. The user name is selected and a password entered as usual. The function grabs the element values and passes them to a php page that queries the database. An AJAX call returns the password to the function and then I want the innerHTML to be a choice of two web pages, depending on success or failure of validation. There are existing AJAX functions available on the internet but they are overly complicated for what I think should be a simple, quick to load function.
Where I am stuck is that the standard procedure to make an AJAX call is the browser window event. How do you make the call from within the function? I have tried creating two new variables, "success" and "again" to replace xmlhttp, but still stumble on the event to assign a value. I left the blank password protection (if statement) with that variable to demonstrate what I mean.
I've put in my code below, which is in development and successfully alters the innerHTML text depending on user input but I can't figure out how to insert the relevant php page. I have '// out' the testing bits, but left them for info. (I have tried full 'scripting' as the innerHTML, but it's messy.)

this doesn't
setTimeout("document.all[sResponseDivID].style.visibility = 'hidden'",1000);
looks like sResponseDivID isn't recognized. what's the problem?

how to implement it into my php pages. The best example for me to explain with, are live at facebook and youtube. Facebooks newest user status feature the "like this" link - and youtubes "favourite" link located under the player... There are tonnes more examples, and thats why im shocked that their isnt a tutorial about it anywhere...
So basically i need the user to be able to click a specific link, which then updates the database, and then shows a success message, all without refreshing the page.

i have an initAll() called on window.onload within initAll() I assign a few onclick handlers to some links. However, it would be great if I could pass an argument to the handler, so I could use the same handler every time... but if I include two brackets for each handler, it executes immediately... ignoring the 'onclick' bit...
window.onload = initAll;
function initAll(){
document.getElementById('btn_events').onclick = getSpecificFeed('events');
}

I am having some issues with getting a variable from an onclick event with javascript.
$('#preview_logo').append('<img src="'+fileObj.filePath+'" height="100px" hspace="5" /> '+fileObj.name+' uploaded.<a href="javascript:;" id="dele_image" onclick="del_image('+fileObj.filePath+','+fileObj.name+');">Upload Different Image</a><br>');
This is for uploadify script for previewing an image that is uploaded, it creates the link fine, but won't trigger the function "del_image" unless I delete the parameters in the onclick, which leads me to believe it is something to do with my quoting. Here is the function:

I am trying to pass the dynamic div id to the jquery onclick function.
Here is the html code
HTML Code:
<div id = "show1" class="test">Click 1</div>
<div id = "show2" class="test">Click 2</div>
Code:
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".test").click(function(){
$("#show1").slideToggle("slow");
});
</script>
So it works for the first div not for the second one.There is something called "closest" id selector in jquery but not sure.

what's the correct syntax to call 2 functions from an onclick attribute? the code below doesnt work, maybe im putting semi colons in the wrong place? since the second function needs the return false, im guessing i should put that one last since return false would stop anything after that from running.
Code:
<a onclick='return confirm("are you sure?"); some_function(param1, param2 ); return false;'>test</a>
am i on the right track?

I am trying to create an image viewer with javascript and CSS. Unfortunately however, the onclick events in my image tags seem to work every once in a while for a few page loads then for some reason they just stop working completely and seemingly for no reason at all (i.e. I dont change any code). I've been messing around with this for at least a couple of weeks now and cant figure it out, so it is time to hit up the forums.
Below is the code I am trying to use:
Code:
<div class="nav"><img src="images/downblue.png" name="down" height="20px" width="20px" onClick="down();" /></div>
<script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript">
function down() {
[Code]....
there is also an onload part in this script that doesn't execute. If I put an actual alert statement in the onclick part of the tag that will execute.

I have a small portal website with some ads around. I'm in the process of creating an ads manager script with php and mysql and would like to know when an ad was clicked. I'm confused on how to do this but, the only way I can think of is by adding an onclick even to every ad img:
HTML Code:
<a onclick="callfunction('ad_id');" href="ad url"><img src="path"></a>
Now, how would I call a php function with onclick? I guess that can be done with ajax but, don't know much on how to use it?

I have a JavaScript image gallery that loads in a DIV. I have 4 different Galleries - each with their own image array stored in it's own External JavaScript file.
What I want to do, is when you click on a link to any of the 4 galleries that an onclick function calls the relevant external JavaScript file and then loads the array of images in the same DIV. I want to remain on the same page at all times...just a different array of images is seen by the user in the DIV.
