I want to build a loop, which cycles through a set of images and displays each image for a few seconds. In Firefox everything works fine, IE6 also executes the code but gives an script error in the status bar ("not implemented"). The relevant line of code is in red in the code below.
What could cause this ugly error in IE?

So I wanted to make an image preloader, I found a tutorial and followed as best I could (in all fairness it wasn't the best tutorial), but have got a little stuck.
I think all I need to do is enter the src of the images but I can't see where to put them and if I make an array or make a series of entries.
If anyone could give me a hand I'd really appreciate it as I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to javascript.

in the body tag. I loads fine in IE7 and IE8, but Firefox seems to ignore it and not preload the images properly. What am I missing here? Did I make a mistake or does Firefox 3.5 just work differently with the loading of these five small images?[URL]...
I have a rather large background image as part of the website layout. It's basically the header. It takes a while to load. I wonder if there is an AJAX or javascript loader that can show a loading gif before the image is loaded and then be removed so it doesn't show when you change pages next time.The CSS for the header is below.what code to use for a preloader? I'm trying to build an image gallery and I want to shrink all the images a bit to allow for enlarging them on mouseover. I have it working fine locally, but when deployed to my server it doesn't work because the image files are still loading as the javascript executes. What I wind up with is the js using the image's alt tag's text size as the image size, which then gets resized to create a squashed image. What I want to do is preload all the thumbnail images before the the function to resize them gets called so the resize function has the proper dimensions of the images to do the transformation on. I'm using the jQuery.Preload plugin for my preloading functionality.

My expectation of this code is that the enable_anim_resize() function will not be called until all the images are loaded, but I don't see any difference in this execution than if I just sequentially put in my resize code after the preload line and didn't use the onFinished callback for the preload method (example below:) $(document).ready(function(){ From my understanding of the documentation and examples of the preload plugin, the enable_anim_resize() function shouldn't be called until all images on the page are loaded, at which point the proper dimensions of these images should be available for correct resizing. Can anyone clue me in on what I'm missing here?

I've implemented the jqueryPreloader I found here. It work fine except for two pages in wich the script stops without end and so the page is not visible...the web site where I added the scriptinfo and contact page where the script doesn't workI looked to the firebug console but there isn't any apparent error... but the script loads the screen-wide div (.QOverlay) with #fff background and ends without load the loading bar and without fading out the .QOverlay div

If this code is correct, should I put it in a function and then call for it ?
I am trying to use a for loop to call images of custom text. For example, I have images named uppera.png and lowera.png for a custom font. I need the image of the letter to show up as they type into a text area, but also have backspace work correctly to delete the last image added. Here is the code I have thus far:

When I test this out it takes the previously entered text and adds it to the new text and combines them. For instance if you entered "a" it would show up as "a"; if you entered "a" again it would show up as "aaa" and then "aaaaaa" and so on. Also, it will add the existing characters again if any key is pressed, like just shift. I think I would need to write an else statement to fix that part, but I don't know what to put there, either.
I'm trying to change the src attribute of an image within a loop and I only get the last image in the sequence. I've put a break-point and I can see that listItems contains the right source for all my 3 images, but I only see the last after the initial change from the original source. pausecomp is a delay function.Here's the code for that loop (this is part of a bigger program within SharePoint)

I found a simple image rotating script online and it works like a charm. I have several business logo images on my site and the script randomly selects and displays the images. However, since it selects the images at random you don't get an even mix of logos. Sometimes one or another logos will show up more frequently than others. To avoid this I added a simple DO-WHILE loop with an array. Now it will go through my whole list of logos once in random order, which is just what I want to happen. The trouble is, once it goes through the list of logos once, it freezes up.
I want it to reset after it goes through the whole list. Then it can keep running indefinitely. I tried adding a simple increment counter (counter++; ) and an IF-THEN line in the getNextImage() function so when the counter reached the number of images it would restart via the restart function, but now the images won't show up at all. I tried adding the counter++ at different locations but the result is the same: it doesn't work, so I took it out. Here is the site it will go on, complete with two rotating images (I doubled up on the rotate code) which rotate completely randomly. The one in the center doesn't change: [URL].
Here's a working, stripped down version of the code which shows the images at random: [URL]. If I use the return keyword to exit the function/loop after they set up the first image rollover, it works perfectly on the first image. However, if I comment out the keyword, theId, which is the variable that contains the id of each respective image (which is the same id of the containing link with "1" added to the end) becomes "undefined" (as my JavaScript console says), and thus none of the images work as they're supposed to work. Not even the first one.
I have been looking at this code for two evenings now, and rewrote it 4 times already. It started out as jQuery code and now it's just concatenating strings together.
What I'm trying to do: Build a menu/outline using unordered lists from a multidimensional array.
What is happening: Inside the buildMenuHTML function, if I call buildMenuHTML, the for loop only happens once (i.e. only for 'i' having a value of '0'.) If I comment out the call to itself, it goes through the for loop all 3 times, but obviously the submenus are not created.
I'm looking to send a loop variable (i) to a function inside the loop, but I can't seem to get it to use the value I want, it keeps making it a reference of i and therefore the function is always called using the last value of i rather than the one it was set with.
So if i have 5 Tabs then Tab 1, when clicked, should call DefaultTabClick(0) and so on rather than always using 4 for any of the tabs.

I am doing some studying and we was to create a small loop using either the for loop, while loop or do while loop. I chose to do the for loop because it was easier to understand, but I want to know how to do the same using the while loop. Here is the for loop I have, but I cant figure out how to change to while loop.

I want to have a big image and say 5 small thumbnails underneath. When the user clicks a thumbnail, the image loads where the previous big image was. Is there a standard way to do this?
