View 14 RepliesI need to remove the checkbox and label when a checkbox is selected. For example: I check the checkbox "flashlight". --> The checkbox and the text "flashlight" slowly fade away

Also How do I store the content of the hyperlink in a variable , so that the data stored in the variable will be used the query a database and populate results in another webpage For example there are many links in the webpage like this
<a href="update.php">text 1</a>.
<a href="update.php">text 2</a>
.
.
.
<a href="update.php">text N</a>
User can click any one of the hyperlinks in the webpage. If user clicks on hyperlink 'text4', text4 should be saved in a variable. Then pass the variable value to update.php , where database is queried using the statement "SELECT text4 from table sometable" and results are populated.
I want to find any <!-- --> comment tags in a page and then read the contents. I would also like to distinguish between those in the body and those elsewhere in the HTML document.What do I use to get an array of these elements?
View 10 Replies View RelatedHow can I make an image label that when I clicked will change from one label to another.
Let say I have index.html where my label is displayed. Then I have label01.jpg to label20.jpg stored on label sub folder.
What I want is to be able to change my label one at a time from label01.jpg to label20.jpg everytime i click the label. then go back to label01.jpg after label20.jpg
For illustration purpose, see image below. I want the label to change every click until I got the label right for the video screen. I have 20 video screen in one page and I need to change the labels depending on the video.
Actually a more preferred solution is for the script to cycle through all the pictures on my label folder so that if I have new labels I only need to dump it in the folder and it will become available.
I am using the code below to attempt to get the text or label value of the drop down box, however, what I am not liking is that it is returning a number of the selected item, as opposed to the text value.
document.getElementById('status').value
How can I get just the text value of the selected item in question?
I've been trying everything I can to get the label text of this checkbox and nothing is working. I can get the length of the selectManyCheckbox object and I can tell if a checkbox is checked, I can even get the value of the checkbox. But I can't get the label text.
.innerText returns an empty string
.innerHtml returns an undefined
.textContent returns undefined
This is the function I'm using. I need the LABEL text NOT the value! I'm using IE8
function myfunction2(){
var x = document.getElementById('recipeForm:smc2').getElementsByTagName('input');
alert(x.length+"boxes.
first box is "+(x[0].checked?'ticked':'unticked'));
alert(x[0].innerText);
alert(x[0].textHtml);
alert(x[0].textContent);
}
I have the following radio boxes. A total of five in all. I'm trying to get a scale from 5 to 1 where the user agrees or disagrees a question. However, the client is looking for a scale from Agrees to Disagrees. This is a drupal site and I am using a module for my survey that generates the survey. There isn't an option of leaving out the label. I was hoping to use JQuery to change the displayed text from a '4' to ''.
<label class="option" for="edit-submitted-question-14a-2">
<input type="radio" id="edit-submitted-question-14a-2" name="submitted[question_14a]" value="4" class="form-radio" /> 4</label>
I have been banging my head against the wall for a long time and I am not that familiar with JQuery to solve this problem on my own.
I have a form and inside the text fields I have a note that indicates: Type here your name...all this instead of having titles for each field. That text is set as initial value and the user has to highlight the text to delete it. What I am wondering is if there is a way to have the text but when the user clicks on the Field the text disappears and there is no need for deleting. I have seen this before but I can recall where.

How should I modify the code?
One is the default style sheet.The other is an alternative style that fires up if the user clicks a button.Here are the style sheets in the page head.
Code:
<link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="default" href="../bandi_css_760px/global760px.css" />

I have a bar which dropdownbox so transparant, in a way that I could hardly read its text because its overlap my content text and pictures.
But its order superseed the side bar box. I could clearly read its text on the side but hardly read its text on the middle. I am using jquery which I copy from a tutorial video.
What might be the problem? I would like the text could be clearly read in the navigation bar in order word it suppose to be above the content text when I open the navigation drop down box.

I neeed to subtract values from two text boxes and then show the difference into a html label.
Basically I need to enter times, like 10:00 and 12:00 and it calculate that the difference was 2 hours.
I am creating a small CMS module for a client. I created a little form and when they click Submit, it goes straight out into an include (.inc) file, which is connected to the web page to be displayed.
The trouble I am having is that I'd like to create an additional button that will insert some text (certain html tags to make their life easier, etc) - I got it to work, actually. The script executes and the text is inserted - but once the script runs and the page refreshes (or whatever it does), the text then disappears. The only way I can seem to get it to stay put is when I use "onmouseup" instead of "onclick" - which means that every time the user accidentally mouses over the thing, it inserts the text.
I'm trying to 'wrap tags' around text in a text box.
<script language=javascript>
function insertFauxTags(fauxTag, e, endFauxTag)
{
var e = document.frmAddNewForum.txtTopicMessage.selected;
document.frmAddNewForum.txtTopicMessage.Value += fauxTag + e + endFauxTag;
}
</script>
And my form:
<form runat="server" id="frmAddNewForum">
<asp:textbox id="txtTopicMessage" runat="server" cssclass="formtext" rows="5" textmode="MultiLine" width="95%" style="width:95%"></asp:textbox>
</form>
And here's how I'm calling the function:
<a href="javascript:insertFauxTags('[p]' + e + '[/p]')"><img src="http://www.<%=strSiteName%>/images/parabutton.gif" border="0" alt="Paragraph" /></a>
When I run this in FF I get 'e' is not defined - any ideas?
Is it possible to read text from a file and then place it into a div using javascript. I read something on the Internet that I would need to have a server side language such as php or perl to do that. Is that true and if so why is that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have looked all over the Internet but i can't find anything that works.
All i want to do is simply read from a text file.
I have a form that, during submission to another page, uses the submitted text field data and creates a cookie. But how would I do that with a radio button/checkbox field or pulldown? Just fyi, the code is created using onsubmit() and processes this before the response page.
All demos I see are for self submitting (same page) scripts. Not for those going from form.php to response.php and I cannot use this type of submission and find a value for a NON text field. I need to recognize non text fields since I want to create cookies for all form fields, not just text fields.
The code I have, to read the value of a text field is here:
var email = document.myform.email.value.split(' ')[0];
I just want to have something similar to above, using 'myform' as the form name, but able to get the value for any *non text field*
is this possible? The rest of the code I won't post as it isn't relevant. I just need to read a value of a non text field and I can work with that.
Is there a way for JavaScript to read a text file from a server? Any APIs in HTML5 letting you do that? I would like to build a WebGL object viewer but the files should be read from the server.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using ActiveXObject to read a text file using javascrilpt, it is working in IE but when i use in other browsers, it is not working. Code which I have written:
var fText;
var location = "D:\a.txt";
var fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
var tempFile = fso.OpenTextFile(location, 1);
while(tempFile.AtEndOfStream!=true) {
fText = tempFile.ReadLine();
}
The above code is working in IE but not working in other browsers.
Can we read/write text files using jQery?

i need something simple without much overhead to read plain text (tab separated, columns & rows of data) .. and with the data i need to generate some charts (plot, bar, etc) better be interactive
since javascript doesn't need webserver like php .... setup is simple .. and can be run on any OS. i think it is my best candidate.
i dont know if javascript has any package to do stuff like this. what about interactive graph/chart? is it possible?
what I'm trying to do is get text from between two tags, just like the title says. Now I know I can get that through the innerHTML property, but its just that, I don't want HTML, I want plain text. Consider the following example.
<span id="p-5641">
This is <strong>strong</strong> & you should really put <em>emphasis</em> on that <a href="#">anchor</a>.<br>Line broken
</span>
Now, what I want is, to get the text from between these span tags. That can be done by refering the ID of the span & innerHTML but that would give HTML & I want to strip off the HTML from it, so that I'm left with plain text, like
This is strong & you should really put emphasis on that anchor.
Line broken
with <br> & <p> tags preserved.
Ive created this simple test page with a textarea, a div, and a button. And then this code:
function copytext() {
var temp= $('#TextArea').text();
$('#emptydiv').append(temp);
}
Now in a normal browser (IE, firefox), when i type something in the field, and push the button, the text appends and shows - exactly as it should.
But on a phone (I´ve tried with Iphone and htc), nothing happens. It wont copy the text. I´m using jquery for alot of other stuff on the mobile page which works just fine.
I'm presently working on an existing web mapping site written in 'old' asp (not .net) using JavaScript on server side and JavaScript on client.
I'm more familiar with .net and vb, rusty with both 'old' asp and JavaScript so please forgive me if this question is too easy!
I need to set variables from web page tools, (e.g. a combo box) that have been coded in client JavaScript then save those variable back to the server as something like a session or application var. As when the page is refreshed (every time the map is paned for e.g.) I need the selected variable to stay and not have the user have to reset it every time.
I havent posted any code as I dont real know where to start!
I have no problem passing session vars from asp to the page but not collecting data from the page and saving back to server.
