Feb 1, 2011

I have 3 sliders on my home page and I would like to make them start one after the other, so 1st would start immediately, then after a short delay the second one, and later the 3rd, so they don't make the transition at the same time. The slider I am using is Avia Slider [url]

Trying this code but they are still running synchronously:

JQuery :: Create A Slideshow With Thumbnails The User Scroll Through And Use To Navigate The Slideshow?

Aug 18, 2010

So Im trying to create a slideshow with thumbnails the user can scroll through and use to navigate the slideshow. I'm a big fan of cycle so I wanted to use that as my main slideshow component and was planning on using jcarousel for the pager. So far it works great in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, yet in IE the thumbnails are not loading. I'm guessing it has something to do with how the images in the pager are generated and then jcarousel just isnt proccessing that in IE but I 'm not sure. I feel like I'm very close to getting this slideshow to work, yet I need to figure out why it is failing in IE.

JQuery :: Start New Div On <hr/>?

Mar 18, 2011

Problem: I have a piece of HTML-content, with <hr/> as section breaks. I want to replace the <hr/> with a new <div>. Thus, original: <div>Test test test<hr/>Test test test</div> Result: <div>Test test test </div<div>Test test test</div> With $('hr').replaceWith('</div><div>') it does not work, because the replacement is not valid HTML.

I want to create columns, with <hr/> the column-divider. Perhaps there is also a better solution. The editor is creating the content and inserting HR's where a new column should start.

Insert A Start Tag - But Not An End Tag

Jun 25, 2011

I need to isolate some auto-generated content that is displayed after an end </a> tag, and before a start <div> tag. This text doesn't have any surrounding tags itself, so I need to add some kind of hook to it in order to style it with CSS.

I have tried to use insertAfter to put a <span> after the </a> tag, and then an insertBefore to put a </span> before the <div> tag, but this just results in putting both the start and end <span> tags before the bit of text I want to isolate.

SimpleThumbnail.js - Cannot Start An Id With A Numeric Value

I am working on a website for my cousin and am by no means an expert, so I apologize ahead of time for what is probably a simple question.

I am using the following javascript to have a gallery with thumbnails:

With the corresponding HTML:

But apparently you cannot start an id with a numeric value, and I would like the page to validate. (I have since fixed the other validation errors, but I'm stuck with this one problem.) Is there someway to modify the javascript so that I can use letters instead of numbers?

Get The Start And End Position Of A Selection

Jan 27, 2011

My intension is, to create my own WYSIWYG Editor with own tags. I am doing this with contenteditable elements. If the user is selecting Text and clicks a button (For Example B) the selected Range should be wrapped in "<strong>|</strong>". To program this I need to know the start and the end of the users selection. But the textrange object and the regular rangeobject are not helping me with this issue.

For Example my text would be:

Lets say the user selected 'name is David'. What I do need now is the position in the document where the selection starts.

In this case I would need 27 as my result, because the number of digits would be:

How to do this with Javascript? It must be possible, because TinyMCE, Aloha etc are working WYSIWYG Editors and they must have figured this out.

I already know execCommand and pasteHTML, but these methods are no alternative for me, because they just create what they want and the code looks different in every browser.

Pop-Up Window In Need Of Delay?

Jul 29, 2005

I am trying to create a pop-up window that will remain in front of the
orignal webpage. The pop-up is called as follows:

<script type="text/javascript">
var newWin=null

var winl = (screen.width-208)/2;
var wint = (screen.height-228)/2;

newWin=window.open("URL",'mywindow','left=' + winl + ',top=' +
wint+
',width=208,height=228,toolbar=,menubar=,location= ,scroll=,resizable=,status=');

newWin=window.focus(mywindow);
</script>

The webpage that this pop-up is called from is a completely blank page
that calls another website via a frame:

<frameset rows="100%,*">
<frame src="URL" >
<frame src="Untitled">
</frameset>
<noframes>
</noframes>

The reasoning behind this is because I am unable to modify the page
that the frame is calling and a pop-up needed to be loaded in front of
it. The problem is, when this page is run the pop-up comes into focus,
but when the frame called URL is finished loading, the pop-up is pushed
to the back. I cannot seem to find a way to make it focus and I think
that delaying the pop-up from lauching would solve this problem but I
have been unable to properly implement it.

Delay Counter

Maybe a setTimeout() launching an equivalent of "document.write", but writing in a specific DIV ? Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Actually, the counter is called (without delay) like this :
