View 1 RepliesI got a table with hundreds of rows...and I want the user to be able to hide a single one by clicking on the table row.
How can I do this without typing in hundreds of ids like 1,2,3,4,5... Since you can't get elements by class and ids have to unique I'm not sure how to do this. Also the order of the rows will change when they get updated so it would end up being a mess of unordered ids.
why I'm getting an uncaught exception with this?
var nav = "navigation";
$link = $("#" + nav + " ul ul");
$.each($link, function() {

Here's my situation:
1. I have a web browser component that does not support Javascript
(well it does, but we've disabled it)
2. I have to display some HTML in it, where the user has a link titled
"Hide|Show Options" that can hide/show a particular section of the
HTML.
I have not found a way to achieve it without using Javascript or any
other scripting language.
Is it possible to do this using pure plain HTML?
I am trying to hide a drop down box in a form on a jsp page using the:
style.visibility="hidden";
The form element is hidden ok but my problem is that the space still
exists where the element is.
Can anyone tell me how to hide these elements so that they dont mess up
the layout of my form.
I want to show or hide some tags of registration form with changing a combo
I wrote this code :
$('select[name=user_type]').change(function(){
FormType = $('select[name=user_type]').val();
switch (FormType)
{
case 'teacher': $('.teacher_form').show();

I'm having an interesting IE6 and IE7 issue that may just be par for the course. i'm curious if anyone else has run into this problem.
Here's the URL: [url]
I have a bunch of nested lists with IDs in certain ULs, like <ul id="collapse">. i'm trying to use jQuery .hide() to hide all the ULs with that specific ID. everything works as expected in firefox, safari, chrome, IE8, etc. but IE6 and IE7 seem to only notice the first UL in the DOM tree. so IE6/7 hides that first UL, then stops.
If you want to see what I'm talking about at any point, go to [URL] and hit the "web" button in the top-rightish area. Or, you know, check the source code, because you can't see any of that stuff right now.
So, I'm working on a portfolio for myself. And I want to make it for myself, because, well, I don't want to be lame.
My portfolio has three parts: stuff I've designed on the web, stuff I've written, and other stuff. Those are separated by the three buttons in the top right. You hit one, and the old visible item fades out, and the new one fades in. It's pretty.
Now, the "web" section is the problem. Right now, the div associated with it contains 3 div's. Each of those divs contains a p, and is not visible by default. On ready, I do this:
function readyFunction()
{
var pages = [];
submenu();
[Code].....
But when I try it out, nothing shows. It should show the first element, right?
I am aware that by calling toArray(), I am turning jQuery objects into DOM objects. That's not the problem, is it? How would I fix that?
Let's say I have two lists for menus and one list for sortable content.
If I click on "A" in the #type list, the content list is sorted, the li's with the classes "B" and "D" are hidden by attaching a class of .hidden to display:none. In turn becoming:
My question is, how do I apply the new content results to the #location menu? If "B" and "D" are hidden then numbers "3" and "4" shouldn't be displayed. I'm having trouble getting the two to talk to each other. I've tried .is(':visible"), .each(), etc. and can't quite crack it.
I have some pages being loaded via ajax and I want some of the elements hidden when the page is loaded.I could hide them with CSS and then change the css attribute when I want them to show but that just seems clunky to me since I'd have to assign <input style="visibility: hidden;"> to everything I wanted hidden on load. I know how to make it visible later when I need it.Using jquery's document.read doesn't seem like a good solution either since I'd have to make a list of everything I might want hidden right there on the main page.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am building a sort of tree view in javascript with items that can be expanded and collapsed (with default being collapsed).The problem is the page can get very large, and the user sees the the browser render the list with all the items expanded, and then sees them all collapse after half a second.[/quote]You could use a setInterval in the head section that's on a tight loop, that waits and watches for the tree, then hides it and removes the setInterval process.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to open a new browser window using javascript. I don't want to display URL in the dialogue. Here is my code.
Code:
var windowFeatures = "top=100,left=100,scrollbars=yes,resizable=no,menubar=no,location=no,directories=no,titlebar=no";
var windowObjectReference = window.open(resourceURL,"_blank",windowFeatures);
The new dialogue shows the URL but doesn't allow to modify it. Is there any way to completely hide the url? Although I have specified resizable=no browser allows me to resize the window. I am using firefox.
Is it possible, to hide the menubars of a browser, if the window is already
opened? I want to post a html-form to a "_blank" target (new window). This
new window should have no Menubars.
I need to create a new browser window when we click on a button, as we do with window.open() in javascript. I was using that initially, but I was unable to set title of the html page and hide the addressbar and statusbar using it, I tried many things. but its not working in mozilla. I know that mozilla forces the default settings. Is their any way in jquery to both this things.
Here is what I am trying to do in javascript
var width = 600;
var height = 500;
var left = parseInt((screen.availWidth/2) - (width/2));
var top = parseInt((screen.availHeight/2) - (height/2));
var winProperty = "width=" + width + ",height=" + height + ",left=" + left + ",top=" + top + "screenX=" + left + ",screenY=" + top+ ",location=no,status=no";
mywindow = window.open('help/help1.html','Window title',winProperty) ;
});
Take a look at my testing website: [url]
You'll find the following javascript in the source code:
Now this all works...well, sorta.
The DIV elements specified are hidden when the page is first loaded.
These DIV elements then re-appear (as programmed above) when the mouse pointer is hovered over them.
These DIV elements are listed on the right-hand side of the test webiste.
They contain the Google Ad's you will see listed along the right-hand side of the website.
However, you were not suppose to see the Google Ad's when the website first loads up.
The DIV elements are initially hidden, but the Google Ad's contained in the DIV elements are always visible!
I want the Google Ad's to only appear if a mouse pointer happens to hover over them ( a little test of mine.)
I don't get it...the DIV elements disappears when appropriate, why not their contents: the Adsense?
I'm working on hiding all of a page's content immediately via Javascript. I want to avoid using CSS to display none just incase I run into users who don't have JS enabled.
I wanted to get advice from others and see what the difference is between using jQuery actions within $(window) or $(document).ready. From what I understand, $(window).bind("load, function(){ etc. will only use the script once all contents on the page are loaded, including images?
And $(document).ready(function(), etc just requires the DOM to be ready but will still execute code even if images, etc. aren't loaded.
i have this code i need to close the parent.html window when the child window opened, i need the code for that working well in IE and Firefox Parent.html
<HTML>
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript">
function sendTo()
{
window.open('child.html','_blank','resizable=yes,width='+(screen.width-500)+',height='+(screen.height-500)+'');
}

I'm using the following css code which wrapped around a dynamically populated field;<span class="ui-widget-header platform ui-corner-all"></span>
When the span is empty I want to hide it, and I've used this jquery to do this.
However, the ui-widget-header class appears to be stopping it from hiding - if I remove this class it hides fine.
Firstly I know this issue has been addresses a lot already but as a newbie to HTML and Web Development I am unable to get the idea. according to documentations and solutions proposed on different forums a popup or child window can be only closed using window.close() if it is opened via window.open() function.

I have just downloaded the JavaScript HTML WYSIWYG editor TinyMCE. It works well except when I click on the link button or any other button that opens a window to add an element, nothing loads in the window.I have downloaded multiple up-to-date versions and non of them work. The examples on the TinyMCE website work for me. Also the examples that I downloaded work in Internet Explorer 7, Safari (for windows), Google Chrome, and Opera.It just does not work in Firefox. I even disabled all my add-ons and reinstalled Firefox.When i went to upload it to a server (the version I downloaded) it worked in Firefox.How do I make it so it will run in Firefox locally?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've written several utility pages that use a dynamically created
iframe. The iframe typically has a form that is populated by the main
page. Then the form is submitted to be processed, and the returning
page does something -- call a function on the main page, change a
variable on the main page, etc.
All this stuff I created works on IE. Sorry, didn't have other browsers
available to test. Now I have access to a machine with FF, and none of
these scripts work.
So, short and sweet: What is the proper way to reference a form on an
iframe from the parent doc in firefox? Also, call a function from the
parent to the iframe, and vice-versa, call a function on the parent doc
from the iframe when it loads?
Mozilla/Firefox seems to be wrong when rendered elements with sizes
given in percents and that are placed into another elements with
percentage sizes, if the content overflows them (of course, overflow is
set to the value of "scroll")
To check the written above please use the given below code:
Why does Firefox insert #text nodes as children of TR elements?
As a work-around for older Safari versions not properly supporting a
table row's cells collection, I used the row's childNodes collection as
it was pretty much exactly the same thing. However, in Firefox 1.0.7
text nodes are inserted between the TDs. I'm certain that this didn't
use to happen with older versions.
The HTML specification states that the only element that can be the
child of a TR is a TD, so why does Firefox put text nodes in there?
If this how the DOM is supposed to be built, can someone give me a
reference to where it states that? Or should this be reported as a
Firefox bug?
I am using jquery to copy a DIV containing some form elements. The copy is appended to the DIV in another DIV to allow an unlimited number of form elements to be sent. The problem is that none of the copy DIVs are being sent by the browser Firefox. There is some chatter via google, but nothing conclusive. I see the DIVs show up in Firebug. Could this be jquery related?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHowever I am trying to have a flash embed code for SWFObject written on load by JS. This way I can include just a JS file rather than the JS and HTML, making it easier for others to include. So I know, document.write is bad. Fine, but I haven't been able to use createElement() for some reason, nothing gets created (as verified by firebug).
This works fine in Firefox, and of course not in IE. I believe it has something to do with the items not getting loaded in to the DOM, but I want to be able to apply other JS functions to the flash object (video or videoie), for example to close the video player on completion by removing it. I have that code working, at least when the code is put in the HTML and not added by JS, so I presume its that this method of inserting code causes IE to choke?

I have problem getting dynamic form elements values created with .append method when submitting the form with POST method in Firefox. It seems to work only on Internet Explorer.
