I'm having a problem where the serialize method isn't serializing form elements that are added to the DOM after the page load. Specifically, when the user clicks on a button some elements are displayed in a dialog that are generated from my server and returned via AJAX. I'm converting from Prototype and didn't run into this problem.

There is no method to append an element to another without moving? I think that the only solution is to use .html() method. Is this true?

I am using jquery to copy a DIV containing some form elements. The copy is appended to the DIV in another DIV to allow an unlimited number of form elements to be sent. The problem is that none of the copy DIVs are being sent by the browser Firefox. There is some chatter via google, but nothing conclusive. I see the DIVs show up in Firebug. Could this be jquery related?

On my portfolio site, I use the .append() method quite a bit, but I'm running into a problem with Validation.
[Code]...
But the validator is coming back saying that I can't use either the < > or p tags and my page won't validate. I've tried using the < and > alternative, but then the p tag isn't honored when appended to the #emptyDIV[URL]..

I'm currently working on a form for my site and would like to do something
that I've seen many times on other sites. I would like to make a particular
form element enabled or disabled depending on whether another requisite form
radio button is checked. I tried this:
<input type="radio" name="yesorno" id="yes"
onClick="document.getElementById('metoo').disabled = 'false'">
<br>
<input type="checkbox" id="metoo" disabled="true">
<br>
<br>
<input type="radio" name="yesorno" id="no">
but it doesn't work--I can't figure out why.

I am designing a dynamic web form, and all works fine except that I can’ t eliminate the ‘blank’ spaces that appears between the form elements when these are displayed or hidden. I mean for example, the long blank space that appears between the form submit button and the table rows displayed, because the other tables and form elements are hidden.
I attached the complete sample page so that you can see the ‘blank’ spaces I want to eliminate. These are the 'blank' spaces I want to eliminate:
1. When the page loads, a long blank space appears between the submit button and the table rows displayed.
2. When you select only the ‘Quality B’ checkbox, a long blank space appears between the ‘Product details’ title and the table rows displayed.
3. When you select both ‘Quality A’ and ‘Quality B’ checkboxes, a blank space appears between the table rows displayed. I want a blank space there, but smaller.
In all the cases I want the submit button just below (with a little blank space) the table rows displayed.

I'm using the following to append code to a div:
var htmlCode = '<div id="secondDiv">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</div>';
jQuery('#myDiv').append(htmlCode)
If i try later on to do something like:
jQuery('#secondDiv').get(0) // i get undefined
jQuery('#secondDiv') // i can't get the div element
Is it possible to get the appended elements this way? If not, how can i get these?

I'm having trouble accessing some Elements with jQuery after I created them and added them to the HTML. I want to add some Checkboxes to my Site as soon as the user clicks another Checkbox. That works just fine. But if the user clicks on one of these added checkboxes, i want an event to trigger, too. For starters, i just want to alert a message. But this doesnt happen.So, now I think the Elements are added properly to DOM tree. But still, when I click on one of the added input Elements, nothing happens.What am I doing wrong? How can i get jQuery to recognize the Elements I added?

Im using a JavaScript function to dynamically add rows of user-input data to a form, but Im having problems getting it to work properly with Firefox (works well in IE, though). We are using Struts 1.3 and JSPs, if that makes a difference.
The JavaScript function seems to work initially because the newly added row will show up on the JSP after the user enters their data and clicks a button that uses an onclick event to call the function. However, when I submit the form the new elements dont get included in the request. The result is that when I use the following code in my Struts Action Class to get all the parameter names submitted in the request, I dont receive the new form elements that were added by the JavaScript function and I cant process those newly added records:
Enumeration e = request.getParameterNames();
Here is the JavaScript code for the function that I call to dynamically add rows of data to the form.
function addData(tableId, distBedsCode, empCode, fte) {
var tbl = document.getElementById(tableId);
//grab how many rows are in the table
var lastRow = tbl.rows.length;
[Code].....
Ive tried using hiddenElem.setAttribute(name,) at the end of the above code, instead of something like hiddenElem.name = , but that didnt work. There is just some difference between the way Firefox handles things and the way IE handles them

it looks like a simple form that uses a 'GET' method to append to the default URL the users choice of the dropdown data. I'm assuming this is sent to the sites server where it performs some PERL or CGI magic and sends back to the users page a link. The weathersite already has all the links created in Flash format.
I have compiled a list of all flash-links for the cities I want users to be able to choose on my page. Since I have no clue to what type server side code I would need to write, could I not use Javascript to take the users choice from the dropdown box and then output the correct Flash code into the appropriate point in the HTML page?

I've an HTML table that uses the jQuery-datatables plug-in. One of the columns in the table includes a button for adding a new row to the table immediately following the row where the button was clicked from.
My HTML code is as follows :
<table id="contactInfo">
<thead>...</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>...</td>
[Code]....
With this code, the function() to execute my button's onclick event isn't loading and therefore I cant event see the "button clicked" alert msg.

I'm trying to use the Ajax $.post method, in Firefox. This same code is working for me in Chrome. The form handler is working, and I can get Firebug to breakpoint on line 12, where the $.post method is called. But, it won't ever enter the callback, so it's not getting a response. I'm not seeing any data hitting my server, either, so I can tell the POST isn't going through.
One thing to mention that seems odd, the form handler doesn't seem to be executing until the timer, defined below the form handler, executes. When I hit Submit, it'll sit there and the breakpoint won't occur until the timer occurs. This seems odd to me.
Can anyone perhaps spot something that I am doing incorrectly, here?
Code is pasted here: [url]
After further inspection, the form handler isn't running on the timer. I removed the timer all together, and the form handler is still extremely slow. It takes 3-5 seconds to hit the $.post function after submitting. Why so slow?

I use $().load() to place an HTML snippet from the server into a dialog box which i then need to position relative to the size of the element which has just had the HTML loaded into it. When the main HTML page DOM is ready, I hide() the dialog box, and then use fadeIn() to show with various click() events. I have managed to position the dialog box in the centre of the screen given that there is no content loaded.
However, it seems that when I load the new content into the dialog box the new dimensions aren't taken into account untill the next time load() is called.
Is there a way to get the new dimensions of the element before the dialog is shown in order to position it centre screen?
Here is my code:
function showDialogBox(sender) {
var width = $(document).width();
var height = $(document).height();
