I have a lot of DIV tags on an HTML page. I want to group some of them
so that I can hide them all together at once if needed. What's a good
way to do this? I want this to be compatible with at least IE 5. Would
it be a good idea to assign all DIV tags in the same group the same
"title" attribute?
This is what I want to do, but I'm not sure if it's the correct
approach, and I'm not sure how to set the style with javascript either:
<div title="groupA">hello world</div>
<div title="groupB">from group b</div>
then with javascript set this style:
div[title='groupA']
{
display:none
}
If this is the right approach, and is compatible with say IE 5 or 6,
would someone tell me how to do it in javascript?
i'm trying to hide title and alt tooltips from popping up. i realized that tooltip plugins can hide the browser tooltip and display their own generated style. i am using plugins like fancybox and cycle which have been configured to use attributes for links and description therefore i need title/alt.
i've been unsuccessfully trying to write a function that onmousehover saves the title/alt attribute and empties the attributes (alt="" title="") so they don't popup, then restores them onmouseout.
i know it has something to do with .data() but I can't seem to get it working. i've tried breaking down very simple tooltip plugins, but once i start removing lines of code, it doesn't do anything.
Hi I'm new to the development world and have bumped into a tough problem for myself. I'm attempting to display external RSS feeds on my site using AJAX. The 'title' and 'link' tags from the XML file appear on my page without any problem. However, unlike the 'title' and 'link' tags, some of the 'description' tags contain HTML.[URl].. This seems to be an issue when I'm trying to display the content within the description tags.
Code: function getXMLHTTPRequest() { try { req = new XMLHttpRequest(); /* e.g. Firefox */ } catch(e) {
[Code]...
As you can see, I embarrassingly tried enclosing the variable newtext2 in CDATA tags to no avail. Since I do not directly have access to this RSS file (other than asking my friend if I can edit it), is there a way for me to display the HTML content within the 'description' tags strictly via JavaScript?
I have a javascript that loads images on the page based on the date you select from a drop down menu. So the images are displayed dynamically, however they are numbered 1 through 20.Is there a way I can add a title tag to the images that will display on mouseover?Here's the page I am working on. I want to add title tags to the six images on the right side of the page. They change based on the date selected.
I have an application, that will pull all articles associated with a user on a page.As some users have posted approx 100 articles, I want to hide all but the first 5, then have a link that will show the next 5 or the remaining article that are hidden (if less than 5)I have the following code:
jQuery.noConflict(); var numShown = 5; // Initial rows shown & index var numMore = 5; // Increment
I'm looking for a simple javascript that can fill in the subject of an email message with whatever is in the title tags of the page they're on and also to include the link the the page in the body.
I use this code to produce a date... however, I need to produce a different date depending on the page title... for instance: Page title: Product 1 will display 5/29/11. Page Title: Product 2 will display 6/13/11 etc.Here is the code I use to produce the date... any tips on how to get a different date for the different pages?
If I want to hide a title / heading if a field below is not filled in, what would be the js for that?
I have an "Attachments" h2 heading and three following fields for the client to add up to three attachments. But if none are filled in I want the h2 heading to not display.
This is what I have so far:
This should take care of the three fields, but how do I tie in the heading too?
I have a checkbox that when clicked I want to hide all of the entierows in my table where those fields with a class of internalFieldequals True. The hiding part works well but when I uncheck thecheckbox the rows do not become visible again. So I guess my questionis how do I toggle the value of this checkbox (chkInternal) to hide/show these table rows?
I am new to jQuery and can't get this to work properly. I am loading content form a php page through an AJAX call. Based on the data that is returned I want to fade in a DIV or keep it hidden. Therefore I have a if construction that checks the data that was inserted in a DIV from the PHP page. If the PHP page returned 'No data' the DIV should remain hidden. The loading part works OK, but somehow the hiding or showing of the DIV doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? Is the syntax correct? This is what I have now:
i am building a website form which I would like the user to select a product of interest. Some products are three tiered and some are two tiered.
1. Example of three tier (3 dropdowns required only):Scooters (dropdown 1)Three Wheel Scooters (dropdown 2) Delux 503S Bird Scooter (dropdown 3)
2. Example of two tier (2 dropdowns required only):Standing Bikes (dropdown 1)Children 300 Series (dropdown 2)
If the user wants to submit their interest for one of the products, I need to have at most 3 dropdown menus. So in Example 1, I would have 3 dropdowns in my form. Dropdown 1: Scooters Dropdown 2: Three Wheel Scooters Dropdown 3: Delux 503S Bird Scooter.In Example 2, I would only need to use the first 2 dropdown menus. (Obviously the first dropdown would contain 'Scooters' and 'Standing Bikes' in the menu list)I would like to alter the code so that the second and third dropdowns are hidden until a selection from the first drop down is made. Once for example, 'Standing Bikes' is selected from the first dropdown menu, the second dropdown menu appears and the third remains hidden due to the fact that it is not required. If I selected Scooters from the first dropdown menu, the second dropdown would appear listing all items associated with this and at this point the third dropdown menu is hidden. If i select 'Three Wheel Scooter' from the second dropdown the third dropdown menu now appears listing all Three wheel Scooters such as 'Delux 503S Bird Scooter'.
I'm wanting to hide certain divs within a container. If the sub div DOESN'T have a checkbox which is selected in it, then it should be hidden when you click the link. eg: if #2 and #5 checbox only where selected then divs(sub_1,sub_3,sub_4) would be hidden when link was clicked.
I am trying to display three different types of forms of the same page. One of the three will appear based on the selection. Right now my code has everything shown when you first reload the page and then when you select something it all disappears and nothing comes back. I am trying to use divs because the forms will perform the same action just with different parameters. It is a lot of code but the forms are the same thing just wrapped in a different div and I know they work. hopefully this will cut down on the amount of time you have to look at it.
Below is what I have so far: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function choose() { document.getElementById('notes').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('tests').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('homework').style.display = 'none'; .....
I am using wordpress for my site and I would like to display images of my jewelry based on tags.I have 160 images total. Different kind of material, color, shape and type. . I want to have a default image load first when you arrive on the page, then that image will get updated based on what tag you select. Like with color, there is black, white, red and green. For type it's necklaces and earrings. So I would have the same necklace, but there is a black and a green version for example.So say by default I have a black necklace that loads when you go to this page.If you press the green tab, then I need to fetch that same necklace in green. I have my tags set up right, I just need to be able to call up the correct image.Ideally I would like to have an image in the middle of the page, with icons of options on the above, to the left, right, and below the image.
I am trying to find how to use custom tags in html and render data based on their use.
A good example is the joomla <jm:whatever> tag.
I found the following article: [url]
I think it might be outdated though because the behavior:url element does not seem to work. Plus, when I check the style sheet on a joomla site, it doesnt seem to use this method. I think these tags might be xml but I do not know how to render them based on the tag.
For example: <customAbbrv:display src="test.html" label="Test" />
I would want this tag to fire test.html and pass the attribute label which is set to Test.
This page: [URL] seems to indicate that it's possible, but it looks like it also pops up an alert window which would be annoying as hell. Is there a way to, say, once every minute change the title bar text?
You see I have a text file of rotating slogans that appear each time you reload a page on my site and someone suggested that having them change even when the page is already open might be fun. I thought I'd look into it and see if it's possible. The site is [URL]
I don't know enough about javascript to know if this is possible. I am fairly good at implementing and installing other people's code, though, and can usually make minor changes to tweak things.
so the story is that i using and IFRAME in my web site , and i want the main title of the document (which appears in the browser title bar) to be the title from the iframe 'page' . my English is not so good so i 'll give an example .
I am looking to use a similar method as facebook chat does, where it alternates between the original title text and 'friendsName has sent you a message!...'
At my day job, we use a cms that generates really terrible <title></title> tags that are killing our SE rankings.
Instead of taking the title of the piece of content and putting it in the title tags, it uses the name of the page template.
I first attempted this with jquery, but i'm looking for something that will basically just take <title>template name</title> and replace it with something friendlier.
Can't seem to make it work, I have seen many examples but they are all just for 1 div tag. When i trymore than one it doesn't work anymore.The first one works, if i have more than 1 then the other don't work.
using the following jquery $(document).ready(function(){ $("#toggle-text").click(function () { var divvalue= this.value;
Is it possible to trigger the action of a form with a submit button that's outside the form tags? If so, how should this example be rescripted to make the input tag work outside the form tags?
