Display Alt And Title Tags?
Oct 2, 2009
For debugging purposes I'd like to display the alt and title values of all image respectively link tags. I guess I'll need JS for going this.
Code:
<img ... alt="an image" title="hello" />
<a ... title="bye">link</a>

I have a lot of DIV tags on an HTML page. I want to group some of them
so that I can hide them all together at once if needed. What's a good
way to do this? I want this to be compatible with at least IE 5. Would
it be a good idea to assign all DIV tags in the same group the same
"title" attribute?
This is what I want to do, but I'm not sure if it's the correct
approach, and I'm not sure how to set the style with javascript either:
<div title="groupA">hello world</div>
<div title="groupB">from group b</div>
then with javascript set this style:
div[title='groupA']
{
display:none
}
If this is the right approach, and is compatible with say IE 5 or 6,
would someone tell me how to do it in javascript?

Hi I'm new to the development world and have bumped into a tough problem for myself. I'm attempting to display external RSS feeds on my site using AJAX. The 'title' and 'link' tags from the XML file appear on my page without any problem. However, unlike the 'title' and 'link' tags, some of the 'description' tags contain HTML.[URl].. This seems to be an issue when I'm trying to display the content within the description tags.
Code:
function getXMLHTTPRequest() {
try {
req = new XMLHttpRequest(); /* e.g. Firefox */
} catch(e) {
[Code]...
As you can see, I embarrassingly tried enclosing the variable newtext2 in CDATA tags to no avail. Since I do not directly have access to this RSS file (other than asking my friend if I can edit it), is there a way for me to display the HTML content within the 'description' tags strictly via JavaScript?

I have a javascript that loads images on the page based on the date you select from a drop down menu. So the images are displayed dynamically, however they are numbered 1 through 20.Is there a way I can add a title tag to the images that will display on mouseover?Here's the page I am working on. I want to add title tags to the six images on the right side of the page. They change based on the date selected.

I don't know if it was some kind of "upgrade" in a recent Windows SP but, I now have a problem...When ever I have JavaScript open a new window the URL is displayed in the title bar prior to the title, this is really just an aesthetic problem but seems to be fixed if I set the new window property of location to yes, but I then get an ugly url title bar in my new window. Does anyone know how to disable that "feature" or even what I am talking about. It just annoys me.

Firstly I've used jquery for about an hour now so that's how little I know, that's why this should be simple as :)Ok So I've been reading the docs on ids and ".attr"'s and have achieve half of what I need to do. I've used this:
$(".main_view").text($(".test2").attr("title"));
to get the title of an image and then display it. This works fine except it gets rid of the image. I want to be able to use display the image and use the title as a caption. After I'veachievedthis I'd also like to be able to put that title in a div so I can use css to muddle with it.

Is there a way of telling the validation plug-in to use it's defaulterror messages when the title on the control is set? The defaultvalidation error messages are good for most of my cases so I'd rathernot have to explicitly set the messages for each and every one ofthem.For example, if I attach a "required" validation rule to a textbox andset its title to something, I don't want that title to appear as theerror message when they leave the field blank and I'd rather not haveto explicitly set the validation message

I have 3 div tags that I am working with, out of which on click of Radiobutton based on this button only one div tag should be shown on the webpage. I am successful in achieving that but my problem is that these div elements are showing up in different places of the page. How I can make these div tags replace each other at the same place.
Please find below the code I am using.
<div id="totalTable">
<table border="0" cellspacing="0">
<tbody>
<tr class="first">
<th width="351">Regulatory Limits</th>
<td id="regLimitLamp" width="70">100</td> .....

document.getElementById("totalTable").disabled = false;
document.getElementById("totalTable").style.visibility = "visible";
document.getElementById("totalTable11").disabled = true;
document.getElementById("totalTable11").style.visibility = "hidden";
document.getElementById("totalTable22").disabled = true;
document.getElementById("totalTable22").style.visibility = "hidden";

for(var i=0;i<document.all.elements.length;i++){
alert(document.forms[0].elements[i].id);
}
This code displays the ids of only controls in a form, but I'd like it to
display ALL items. For example, not just the ids of buttons, inputs, etc,
but any <span> elements as well. Is there something I could replace with
the "elements"? I tried tags but that doesn't work either.

I am using wordpress for my site and I would like to display images of my jewelry based on tags.I have 160 images total. Different kind of material, color, shape and type. . I want to have a default image load first when you arrive on the page, then that image will get updated based on what tag you select. Like with color, there is black, white, red and green. For type it's necklaces and earrings. So I would have the same necklace, but there is a black and a green version for example.So say by default I have a black necklace that loads when you go to this page.If you press the green tab, then I need to fetch that same necklace in green. I have my tags set up right, I just need to be able to call up the correct image.Ideally I would like to have an image in the middle of the page, with icons of options on the above, to the left, right, and below the image.

At the moment, the script creates a gallery with thumbnails from a list of images (from my basic understanding), and I want to add to it so the current code also picks up the text from the alt tag and displays that within a div box positioned absolutely elsewhere on the page, when the main image is displayed.Here is the javascript:
var gal = {
init : function() {
if (!document.getElementById || !document.createElement || !document.appendChild) return

I want to start javascript for fun, so I gave myself an assignment to use a for loop that will display "Hello world!" 6 times in the 6 different heading tags. The problem I'm having is that I don't know how to display it in the remaining 5 tags. I have it in the first one.
Here's my code:
<html><head></head><body>
<script type = "text/javascript">
var is = "<h1>Hello world!</h1>";
for (i= 0; i<= 5; i++){
document.write(is);}

This page: [URL] seems to indicate that it's possible, but it looks like it also pops up an alert window which would be annoying as hell. Is there a way to, say, once every minute change the title bar text?
You see I have a text file of rotating slogans that appear each time you reload a page on my site and someone suggested that having them change even when the page is already open might be fun. I thought I'd look into it and see if it's possible. The site is [URL]
I don't know enough about javascript to know if this is possible. I am fairly good at implementing and installing other people's code, though, and can usually make minor changes to tweak things.

At my day job, we use a cms that generates really terrible <title></title> tags that are killing our SE rankings.
Instead of taking the title of the piece of content and putting it in the title tags, it uses the name of the page template.
I first attempted this with jquery, but i'm looking for something that will basically just take <title>template name</title> and replace it with something friendlier.
i tried something as basic as:
Code:
<title>Homepage Template</title>
<meta content="Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 7.1" name="GENERATOR">
<meta content="Visual Basic .NET 7.1" name="CODE_LANGUAGE">
<meta content="JavaScript" name="vs_defaultClientScript">
