HTML - Lock Images In Place?
Aug 3, 2011
I was wondering: You know how you're able to left-click and hold the mouse-button down on a image and then drag it around? Everybody must know that; Is there a way to "lock" the picture, so that isn't possible? I'm not talking about removing the right-click features, like saving the picture, etc. I just want the users not to be able to drag it all over the place - like a background for example. In HTML, of course

There is a slideshow on my website that reads in the address of local images and puts them in a slideshow rotation to be displayed on the page. I currently have to "hard code" the addresses in, similar to the JavaScript below:
However, I want to be able to place images in the Images directory without having to make sure the files are named the same as in the code. I would like JavaScript to go out to a local directory, see what's in there, grab anything in jpeg format (regardless of the name), and put it in the slideshow rotation.

I have a div in my HTML that that when rolled over reveals an image.
I can't figure out how to place a random image from a set of 5 images to appear in the background of that div when it is rolled over again.

I have created a jquery cube that has rotating images within it, and I have defaulted the margin to display left. I am now attempting to place a few images to the right of the jquery cube, but no matter what I've tried I am not able to get the unassociated images to display to the right. Instead they are displayed below the bottom of the jquery cube.

I have the following code:
'<div class="Comment">' +
$.each(post.Comments, function (i, comment) {
document.write(comment.Description);
}) + '</div>'
);
The document.write() is not working, it erase all the content of my page in fact. What I want is just write the HTML contained in 'comment.Description' for each iteration (comment.Description contains a DIV with multiple elements in it!)

I would like to be able to display either one or the other HTML table
in the same place. I.e., there are 2 buttons on the screen. When the
user clicks one button, the table A is displayed below. When the user
clicks the other button, the table A disappears and the table B appears
in the same place.
When I use the classic div tags followed by table code, they are
displayed sequentially on the page, rather than in the same place.

I am new to javascript, and am having an issue, which I'm sure is elementary.. I found a script for expandable content, it suffices fine. As it stands, the script toggles images onclick. For example, whence the menu is collapsed, it displays "plus.gif" next to it, and when the menu is expanded, it displays "minus.gif" next to it.
Basically, what I would like to know is, thus: how would I change it to display text icons next to it? For example, in place of "plus.gif" I should like it to display "+" as actual text. I've dredged a number of places, however, I've found nothing. Furthermore, I cannot figure out how to do it.

I use a Time Date Picker Javascript code [URL]. It works fine with a placement problem. When you click one of the last pair input fields on the page, a drop-down list will appear from the input field. In my case, the drop-down list shows on the bottom of a page instead. I can't find the code controls the location of the list.

In my page there are a combo-box and a check-box that should have the following behaviour: When check-box is checked, the combo-box has to take a precise value and has to be not editable by the user. I cannot use DISABLED option because the back-end needs the value in the combo and READONLY option is useless with a combo-box.... So I don't know what to use to make the combo "disabled"

Is there any way to lock down the menu bars? I currently have a form that was created in Adobe Professional. I have hidden the menu bars on initial view of this form, in an effort to force the sales associates to use buttons that I created that will show them all fields that are required. This worked for a while, but now the sales associates have found out how to unhide the menu bars and are again submitting incomplete forms. I would like to have something in place, that if they do unhide the menu bars, there are certain commands that they cannot use (i.e. Attach to E-mail). Is there any way to put script on this form that will gray out certain commands on the menu bars?

I was wondering if the was any way to determine the state of the caps
lock key, on or off. Of course I can capture the key events and see whether the caps lock is pressed, but that does not help.
I have seen some example that looks at the characters entered in an
input field to determine if the caps lock is on, but I was wondering if
something is possible that is a bit more immediate to report the caps
lock state.

I'm trying to figure out a way to make only one element on a page receive key and mouse events. I have a grid in a <div>-container with "overflow:auto" which makes the grid scrollable. If course I can set event handlers to the "document" to catch key strokes and mouse clicks and execute navigation functions which make the grid scroll (e.g. pressing down arrow) etc. This of course effects the whole page and not just the div.
The problem is: as far as I know only window and form elements can receive events such as focus(), blur(), keypress() etc. and I have to make sure only this one element is affected.
Is there thus a way to make these events affect only the <div> container?
The best way to do this would be with an event listener as this would make development much easier.
Has someone done this before?

I've created a admin center, that has two seperate login permissions. Admin which can edit listings, etc... and Viewer which can only view listings, and edit 1 or 2 of the listings details and not all of them like the admin. I've seen web-sites where certain text input fields are sort of Grayed out, not allowing for user to type, click in or change anything in that field. Sort of like the html text input field has been or is disabled. How can I get certain html text input fields to appear disabled, and the text that's inside un-editable or unchange-able?

<script>
/* All you have to do is to call

$(document).ready(function() {
$('#submit').click(function(){
// To lock user interface interactions
// Optional: put html on top of the lock section,
// like animated loading gif
$.uiLock('Click Here <a href="#" onclick="$.uiUnlock();">unlock</a>');

Where and how would I put a Animated loading gif?

I am building a custom shirt design app which uses an Ajax form to allow a user to upload an image, and once it is uploaded it is automatically placed in the next empty <li> in their little gallery... once it is in the gallery they can click on it and insert it into their shirt design. It's all done with Ajax so they never leave the page.
Here's the code that inserts the image into the page once it is uploaded: (this works perfect)
$('#last').html('<img src="uploads/' + filename + '" />');
Once the image is in their gallery, the user can click on it which inserts it into their t-shirt design:
var selected = $(this).attr('src');
$("#container").html('<img src="' + selected + '" width="40" />');
Okay so say their gallery already has 5 images in it an they upload a 6th, the HTML looks like this on page load:
<li class="graphic"><img src="uploads/monkey.png'"></li>
<li class="graphic"><img src="uploads/ltdtee.png'"></li>
<li class="graphic"><img src="uploads/wordpress.png'"></li>
<li class="graphic"><img src="uploads/kitty.jpg'"></li>
<li class="graphic"><img src="uploads/steve.png'"></li>
<li class="graphic" id="last"></li>
The problem is that if I click on one of the first five, it works, the image gets inserted into the shirt design. But if I click on that last one, which now has the image I uploaded in it, it doesn't get inserted into the shirt design. Is there a reason why?

I have recently worked on a flash based learning course and built functionality where users throughout the course can type in their own notes based on the course, and they can revisit these everytime they launch the course, the functionality is simply using flash cookies to store the notes on the users machine. I wanted to build functionality so that they could then save these notes to their hard disk and e-mail them on. To do this I call a javascript function from flash which opens a new webpage, passes through the notes from flash and uses document.write to write the notes to the new webpage. Then the user Saves (as web page html only) to save a copy to their machine.
The problem is I want to do this web page up a bit more, add graphics etc. but if I save as web page html only it won't include any images I add to the html page, and if I change it so that they save as (Web Page Complete) rather than write the webpage out with the notes it will write the webpage with the code document.write(string) but as this is on the users hard disk now string will be undefined as it no longer run alongside the course. Is their any other way anyone can think of doing this type of functionality, I am trying to stay away from using PHP
