Godaddy Domain Search Script - Doesn't Open In A New Window

Sep 20, 2009

Ok after much research I have created a script that will search godaddy for domains using javascript. Now the problem is that it doesn't open in a new window when you click search. How do I get the script to open the godaddy results in a new window? btw target="_blank" isn't working.

CODE:
<form onsubmit="var loc='http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/registrar/search.asp?domainToCheck='+this.elements[0].value+'/';location.href=loc;return false" method="post" action="" target="_blank">
<input name="query" size="38" style="border: 1px solid rgb(126, 157, 185);" value="" type="text">
<input name="Submit2" value="Search" id="Submit2" type="submit">
</form>

Window.open Object Doesn't Support Property Or Method

Nov 11, 2011

i have a main.asp page where users can select items from dropdowns and listboxes. i have a view report button where i have a onclick property which triggers a javascript function. the function combines all the screen inputs and based on that generates a report in a new window. i have used window.open for this.the problem is, when i close the child window, come back to the main window and click the button again (with all the input fields already selected), the same report should be generated again. instead, i am getting the error : "Object doesn't support the property or method".

i have to refresh the main.asp page, select all the input fields again and then click on the button to generate the report.why am i losing the objects of the parent page after doing window.open?

Window.open Launched From A Set Timeout - Script Doesn't Work With Google Chrome

Jul 14, 2010

Works fine with ie and firefox. All the script is there to do is open a new window but delayed so that users can see the button unpress.

[Code]....

This is my favourite way of doing things. The problem is that Chrome wont do a window.open launched from a set timeout. (buttons are an image background that shows just half of the image at a time) But its nerfed if i cant get it to work on 0.00005% of the browsers that visits the sites! (ive come to really dislike chrome)

Capturing Domain Change Event OR Domain Of The Target URL

Jun 7, 2009

Is it possible to capture the domain change event OR domain of the target site in javascript? To elaborate, suppose I am on my site (www.mydomain.com) and if I type www.someotherdomain.com in the address bar, I want to capture the target URL/domain i.e. someotherdomain.com in the javascript code of my site (mydomain.com). I am trying to call sign-off function of my site upon customer navigation to some other site without loggin off. I can not use body/window onUnload function because I have a common layout JSP that would be reloaded for each and every page. So I am trying to capture the URL/domain of target site and check if it is different from teh current domain; Then only I will call my sign-off function to kill the customer session.

New Window.name Value Doesn't Stick. Old Value Returns Unless The Window Is Refreshed

Jul 23, 2005

I'm having some difficulty in renaming a window object. I'm opening the window in question via a targetted submit:

<!-- CODE EXCERPT FROM WINDOW 1 -->
<form target="newWin">

Based on certain criteria, I sometimes need to close window 1 and have
window 2 take its name:

<!-- CODE EXCERPT FROM WINDOW 2 (currently named "newWin" -->
var strWindowName = opener.name;
opener.name = null;
opener.close();
//Ensure the window doesn't hold onto the instance
opener = null;

//Rename the window
window.name = strWindowName;
top.name = strWindowName;

While an alert at the end of my function indicates that the renaming
has been successful, when I submit the form on window 2 I find that
the window name has reverted to "newWin". For some reason however,
refreshing the window makes the correct (previous opener) name stick.
