Getting Href Of Current Page Within Iframe?
Oct 7, 2011
I'm trying to append the url of the parent page an iframe is located in based on the current url within the iframe.This is all taking place on the same domain, so I don't think there should be any security issues.My code looks like the following:
Code:
function locator_url() {
var iframeUrl = alert(document.getElementById("dealer-locator").documentWindow.location.href);
var iframeUrlSplit = iframeUrl.split('/locator/');[code].....
The code works for the initial page load, the parent url is appended to http://localhost/meade/dealerlocator/#
However, when I click a link inside the iframe the parent url doesn't change, even though the href value in the iframe has.The parent url should have it's hash updated to something like:
http://localhost/meade/dealerlocator/#results_list.php?showonly=US&tab=US&zip=&distance=10&state=&city=&name=
But that's not happening.What am I missing?

I put my website in an iFrame to mask the URL...and everything works great, except that on any given page, when you click the browser reload button it goes back to the original iframe src.
I assume I need JS to get it to refresh the current content(page), but I cannot for the life of me find a simple answer. Does anyone know how to do this off hand? Is it even JS that I need?

I know next to nothing about javascript and I don't even know if this is possible. I need to target window.location.href to an iframe on a different page. So, right now, the piece of the code that redirects the browser looks like this: window.location.href='http://www.somewhere.com/'; Works great, brings it up in the same browser window. So now I need to modify the code so it goes to a different page and brings that page up in a specified iframe.

I created a bookmarklet script to help me audit extremely large style sheets.Basically while on a site that you would like to audit, you click the bookmarklet and the document's body contents gets remove and replaced with an iframe that points to the current sites home page. From here you can choose what style sheet (the script finds) to begin reporting over. The more pages you browse (through the iframe) the more accurate the report gets.My problem however, is if the person is on the site's home page when first running the script, the iframe never loads up. I think it has to do with the fact that you are on the home page, and then the iframe tries to point to the home page as well and fails for some reason.You can test it by bookmarking this bookmarklet and running it on any site's home page where style sheets can be found:
Get The Bookmarklet on this page (http://tinyurl.com/3gx7fw5)
Again, it works great if you don't start the script from a sites home page.

I'm trying to create two bookmarklets:
1. Take the current URL of the page and open a new window with a URL based on the current page. Some examples (I use "->" to mean "this URL turns into that URL"):I plan to use these bookmarklets in sequence, first pressing 1 to log into the CMS, then pressing 2 to edit the current page.

I have a page that contains 3 Iframes.
Left is navigation
Center is main content
Bottom is footer
How would I put together a link from the navigation that allows me to open a NEW Iframe over the existing Center region? I don't want to target the existing Iframe and load the link in that window. I want the existing Center Iframe to remain open and an additional Iframe to open with the new page.
The goal is so that the 2 Iframes are independent. They are both forms and I need them to be able to copy and paste into both forms at the same time without affecting each other.

Based on the lack of responses to the last hole (which I am attributing to one of the following:
a. The hole being too difficult,
b. It being overly time consuming, or
c. People not wanting to do it)
I have decided to take a step back for this hole.
Create a Javascript include function. This function should include a javascript file (when given a URL) into the current page assuming it wasn't already included in the page (either via the include function call or by HTML). If the file is already included the function should just return.
This function should either take a file name/ path to file or a full URL as a parameter. If it is a filename/ path the function should include the file from the base URL of the current site (such as [url]). If it is a full URL just include it.
Make sure you don't allow files to be included multiple times, we don't want that!

When a link is cliked -> user stays at current page and get's "Page loading" etc. notice until the next page is fully downloaded.In other words; When I click a link (Internet Explorer), I get first "a white page" until next page show's ..I want, that the page does not go white at all, but current page show's until the next page is fully downloaded.

I'd like to resize an iframe into which different (same domain) pages of differing heights are loaded. I can do a first-time resize no problem. It's the subsequent reloads that need to pass back their height to the parent page There seem to be lots of solutions for that around, but few I can see for resizing each time the iframe reloads. One is described here on another board [URL] but unfortunately the test page is no longer around (or indeed the site), so the full code is no longer available there. This one works, almost, for me: [URL] it does resize for me, but not quite sufficiently high each time - about 90% of what is required: [URL] Is there a way to add on sufficient extra margin that scrollbars no longer appear?

I have a button in my site which when clicked, will set the current page to be the home page for the user. I use the following code:
var hiddenLink = document.getElementById('dummyLink');
hiddenLink.style.behavior='url(#default#homepage)'
hiddenLink.setHomePage('http://www.123.com');
somewhere in my <body>, I have the following link definition:
<a href="#" id="'dummyLink'" style="display:none"></a>
Now, this solution works fine for IE But I need to have a working solution for Firefox and Opera too. Does anyone know how to solve this in these 2 browers?

I've got 2 pages: a current events page and a past events page the current events page loads fine as there is only about 10 events the past events page takes about 30 seconds to load and will crash if u click your mouse in the loading time.
The pages are near identical the only difference is the query that selects the events (> versus <)
The page loads immediately without:
But when i put it back in the above happens. I'm using jQuery.roundedcorners.

<form method="get" action="http://www.google.com/search" target="_self" >
<input type="submit" value=""<%=con.rs.getString("term")%>"" />

I'm using the following code (simplified version) to call a Json file, parse it and on each iteration, create a div with an ID of "tab". I'm using this with jQuery UI .tab() to create a listing with entries which have three tabs. Anyhow, the principle seems to work except that when I examine what's happening behind the scenes using Firefox console, I see that each href in the html code produced is causing the Json function to re-fire using the href as it's url target.

I have a base html page which contains several thumbnail images with links to enlarged images which I'd like to view in an external page [so I can control the dimensions of the enlarged image]. I thought it best to use an externaltemplate html page to launch these within and therefore imagine I need to declare the variable in the thumb links page & image they may need to look something like this:
<a href="mytemplate.html?imgVar=/images/collection/large1.jpg">thumb1.jpg</a>
<a href="mytemplate.html?imgVar=/images/collection/large2.jpg">thumb2.jpg</a>
<a href="mytemplate.html?imgVar=/images/collection/large3.jpg">thumb3.jpg</a>
Then in the external page pick up the variable something like:
<img src="imgVar">
I've looked all over Google & can only see something similar to this in php. Is there a way to achieve this with jQuery instead?

I'm working on a project where we're using JavaScript to let users swap styles on a page. To accomplish this, I'm calling the script via href="javascript:swapcss()" on the switch styles button.
Some pages on the site have anchor links. On those pages, if someone swaps styles without hitting any of the anchor links, all is well. But if someone hits an anchor link and then hits the swap button (at this point the URL is pageid.html#anchor), the page just reloads to their anhor point without swapping styles.
Does anyone have a workaround handy? I've tried several alternatives I've found online (href="#" onClick="action"; href="javascript void(0)" ). Nothing works for this case yet. Code:

I'm running a script for my ecommerce website. I'd like to modify a button that brings up a customer's invoice as a webpage to instead print out that page (not the current page) and not leave the page I am currently on. Is there a way to do this in javascript? I'm assuming window.print() can only be used for the current page?
