I have two files in a directory.
one called toto.txt with the following content :

one called toto.html in which I want to get the data of toto.txt with a
javascript script.
May you suggest me an example of a script doing this?

I am doing a few tests with javascript and oop. but one failed so i falled back to the way i usually do this but it still isnt working properly. i am using $.post() but instead of returning whatever is echoed in the php file like it does with all my other scripts it returns the content of the file:
Isnt returned in var data but the whole file is returned as a string.
I'm writing a script and I've encountered a problem.. I have a txt file with many words, each word in a different line. For example: the file words.txt contains:

I need to load the content of the file into a variable in my script. I prefer that all the words will be in the same variable with line breaks, but if you'll figure out a way to put it in an array, it's ok too. I really don't know how to do it, and I tried to google but didn't understand.. By the way, I don't want to change the txt file to js file, I need it to remain txt..
I m having a text data of around 6 page length in a text editor...I want to print dat data using window.print. For that i displayed dat data in a html page and used window.print(). Bt my client wants dat some line spaces shud be inserted first in the starting of the page and on the second page also...After that the printing shud be normal... I'm trying to parse my data from an xml file now and print it out on the page based on date from my existing code. I have that working, with each item formatted the same way on the page What I'd like to do now is alter it a bit to make the most recent (the item listed on the top of the page) formatted differently and the rest of them as it is now. Something like - (if 1st <li> then build html like this else build html like that) I hope this makes sense.

I have a folder of images from which I access individual pictures using the ID[Who] variable index passed down from the parent frame plus a local index variable p.

where an example file in Photos is PhotosAndiamo1.jpg, the ID in this case resolving to "Andiamo" and the local variable is = 1. This works great.
I would like to add a file of text captions associated with the pictures, preferably saved in the Photos folder such as PhotoAndiamo1.txt.
While I can fetch the images easily by document.writeing the <img ....> command, how do I do a similar fetch for the text data and document.write it to the HTML? (Short of the hassle of creating text images and fetching those.)
I think I have a varialbe scope problem here, but I can't figure it out. What I'm trying to do is extract a piece of data from a JSON file using a variable established earlier in the script as one of the keys.
When I run this script I get the alert that lets me know that the variable "theMappableItem" has been established correctly. I click "OK" in the alert box. Then in my console (in firebug) I see a line showing that the .json file has been gotten successfully. Next in the console is an error that says:

I have no problem putting the information in my database once I get everything into PHP (I'm relatively new to JS).
Am I able to make a form in the .js file and automatically submit it once all the functions finish? I also need the page not to refresh when sending this information so I'm assuming some AJAX will need to be involved. I was able to send a basic form using some jQuery I found and have the page not refresh but can't figure out how to do the same in a .js file.

Hi there. i have a page that displays the results of a mysql query from one table. i need to add a button to the page so the user can download the table data into a .csv file, and save the file to their hard drive.I have a PHP script that gathers the table data into .csv format, but it just dumps onto the bottom of my results page. As far as i know, there is no way to call a PHP function with an html button,
So, i am looking either a link to a javascript script that 1. converts the table data to .csv format, and puts the data into a file which is then downloaded, or 2. a link to a good tutorial on how to do this.

Part of it will be the modification of palettes, so if I click Palette 4, it would go in and edit the array to have new contents (predefined by me) and redisplay the image in place of the one that was there before. I have a JSON data structure that I'm pulling in VIA an AJAX call. What I want to be able to do is click a button/link and be able to save this data structure to disk, but I'm not really sure how to go about this. I've been experimenting with the following:The link has the following format "<a href='data:application/json, " + data_structure + "'>Click here!</a>" I've been able to replace data_structure with text and /json to /rtf, which gives me a pop-up 'SaveAs' dialog box, and when I open the file, it has my text in there. However, if I do data_structure, I just get [Objectobject], which is telling me that I'm passing in the object, but that's basically it, I need to expand it out? I'm not really sure how to do that...Which leads me to calling a perl script. So I make an ajax call like so:
