I am new to javascript, I have one question, how can I use javascript to get the IP address of the remote user or remote web browser?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt launches in IE and give the user instructions, then at the click of a button, launches my setup.exe. I want my webpage to launch setup.exe then go to another webpage on my CD, congratulations.html, which says "installation is complete etc". Here's what I am trying to do through JAvascript. It doesn't work. Should the first instruction be flushed in order for the 2nd one to work?

I want to use the values of text boxes on my HTML webpage to create a webpage URL (like below):
<script type="text/javascript">
My text boxes are as follows:
Now this all works and the result webpage URL prints to id='ID1', but the big question is how do I use this resulting URL in another Javascript section as the src="?

I am trying to display a webpage from another domain and tried to access its elements and I am facing issues with this.
I tried using "iframes" and am facing cross domain issues.
All that I want to do is, set and get the attributes of the elements of the webpage from the other domain (eg: set text field value, get dropdown box values, click button etc)
Is there a way to get this job done?
I thought of browser addons however it will be a browser specific solution.

Could anyone know the script code for a WEBPAGE ON TOP OF A WEBPAGE? The site was not working anymore, so I can't tell you the link. This is what I saw, When I visited the site (Mainpage) There's just a Welcome Image that shows CLICK HERE TO ENTER. After clicking the link, a loading faded icon appears on top of Welcome Image covering that Welcome Image with Webpages, it's like popping to the center of the page. I don't know if someone of you could understand me. It's like Page on TOP of another Webpage without leaving the 1st page.

Hello everyone... I've got a question about an onKeyUp event. I'm using a text box that HAS to be a negative number therefore it has to have a - sign in front of the number. Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to write a function to do this? Thanks so much...

When updating our agency's webpage daily, [URL] I am looking for a shortcut to save time.. When I update air quality numbers. I have to put the conditions. Ex.. 50 = good 100= moderate etc etc. As you see here(bold and underlined)
[Code]...
Well instead of having to type good or moderate every-time to correlate with the numbers, I want to find a way the category can automatically default correctly when I put in just the number. Ex, if I put in the number 100, it automatically knows to issue/ put Moderate with out me having to type it. I semi wrote a code .. Yet can't seem to know how to execute. Seeing if Maybe I can get some assistance.

I have a function below where every time a question is submitted, it will add a new row in the table with a textbox which allows numbers entry only. My question is that I don't know how to code these features in this function:
I want the text box to be between 0 and 100, so if text box contains a number which is above 100, it will automatically change the number to the maximum number which is 100.
Does any one know how to code this in my function below in javascript:
Code:
When I used toFixed() method on a number, I thought that this method round a number to a specified approximation, but I got a surprising result, the number became string! 15.23689.toFixed(2) ==> "15.24". So does it convert the number into string?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out how to make a random number I can plug into a script count down from that number at certain times of the day until it reaches 0. I would like it to reset itself at midnight every day. I'm trying to make it work with a script I found on here that resets itself at midnight every day. So instead of it counting down too fast, it would count down to the next number after a randomly generated number of minutes until it reaches 0. But it wouldn't necessarily have to end at 0 at midnight. It could go from 845 to 323 at the end of the day at a slower pace. Is that possible?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am remote scripting using javascript to an XML gateway, the XML file I get back changes state i.e. either the car registration number exists (and it includes certain fields in the XML) or it doesn't exist (and it doesn't include certain fields).
When my code tries to display the result I am getting the 'object required' error because I am trying to access an xml element which doesn't exist.
For example this line would break if the plate didnt exist but work perfectly if it did:
var fuel = response.getElementsByTagName('Fuel')[0].firstChild.data;
Is there anyway to stop it throwing an error if it doesn't exist and just set a regDoesntExist flag or something?
I am working on a Phone Number Form. The link of script: [url]
Questions:
(1)I wanted to know if code this script so that instead of the phone number appearing as: (123)456-7890
So that it appears as: (123) 456-7890 with a blank space after the ")"
(2)If that's simple, is there a way to error-check it so that only numbers can be entered into the phone number input field?
What i'm trying to do is replacing the size=180 part of the src (in this case an image) with size=400 so that the images appear larger. I can't simply replace any "180" with "800" because the value might be present in the lid or isbn.So far I've pretty much cut the url up in pieces (I reckon it could be done a lot easier), but I'm stuck with replacing it.[code]
View 6 Replies View RelatedFormerly I've been replacing characters with javascript using the following code.
paramString = paramString.split("").join("<sup>");
paramString = paramString.split("").join("</sup>");
So if the user on my website types 52 it would return the following value: 52, or just, 5 how do I detect something like this. if they enter: 5 how can I detect the number "2" and put it superscripted past the number 5. so the javascript reads this: 5 and returns this: 52
I have a PHP script that displays my online status and shows a window
if I am online, or doesn't show anything if I am offline.
I'd like to include the content of this remote PHP file inside a web
page using JS. I have created an xmlHttpRequest script to do that but
it doesn't work as expected... It should work just like the status.php
file, but instead, the content doesn't show up in IE, and in Opera, it
it stuck in the upper-left corner...
A newly added, not-quite-wanted function of my job is remotely
debugging JavaScript errors on other people's web applications. I have
tried finding a JavaScript debugger that would allow me to do that, but
other the Microsoft Script Debugger, I couldn't find any other.
Are there such programs? Basically, what I'd like to be able to do is
trace commands step by step and view the values of certain variables.
I was unable to figure out how to get Microsoft Script Debugger to
work. I read the documentation and executed it, but I keep getting
"Syntax error" messages whenever I want to see the value of a variable.
Add to that the fact that I am not a developer and I do not know
JavaScript (other than to read it, which is enough for me to figure out
what the problem is) and you see my problem.
I have read about the option of adding message boxes all over the
place, but this would not work out for me either, since I would need to
make changes to this code on the web server, where I don't have access,
and it would be a lot more tedious.
For those skeptical as to why I still expect to be able to debug
problems:
The problems are caused in most cases by the proxy we add on their web
servers, and they are due to values being changed on the fly. I only
need to find out where the code breaks and read the values of the
variables, which gives me the solution ("do not change this variable").
I know javascript has no local or server based access to the disk however I
was wondering if one can read a remote page and take its html <TITLE>
value...
My guess is no but thought I'd check/ask anyway...
What I'm trying to create:
Normal slideshow like this one ([url])
A div with several urls should animate another div.
Like so: mouseover url: fade to correct image. click url goto url.
No hover: continue slideshow.
Footprint:
So hover on "item 1" should show "div with heading1".
I am trying to use asp for remote validation instead of php. But it did not work. This is whatI tried.
$(document).ready(function() { var validator = $("#Member_Form").validate({
rules: { Member_Name: {
required: true,
minlength: 2,
remote: "users.asp"
}, },
messages: { Member_Name: {
required: "Enter a username",
minlength: jQuery.format("Enter at least {0} characters"),
remote: jQuery.format("{0} is already in use")
}, }});
Also how is the member name passed to the asp page. I tried reading it as query string. But it did not work.
I am hosting my website in free server (freehostia.com) and i am using joomla1.5 . I want to parse RSS from my other websites. Joomla does it with its modules. But the server do not allow outbound HTTP request, hence i had use rss-to-javascript website to parse RSS feeds. It parses well but there is its advertisement below the feed (which i think is nonsense).

I have a webpage with link of useful websites. Rather than loading the websites in a new window, I would an "inline frame/window" to be opened just ow the link I clicked on so that I can preview/interact with the webpage.
Does anyone know how this can be done ?
