Form Name Attribute Messing With Colors
Oct 15, 2009
My Form Name Attribute is changing the background color of the field. When I take the name attribute out of the form element, it looks ok. Wondering if maybe it has something to do with the onfocus and onblur that I have in each element.

im not sure why Firefox is doing this. it seems to work fine on Firefox 3.6.3 for Mac.

As you can see it adds a linebreak after each text is added. It is meant to creat a list to be output from a form. But a user can click inside the textarea end mess up the list and enter anyway they want.
How can I make sure that there is always a linebreak between each line of text?
<input size="20" id="inputtext">
<input name="add" value="Add"
'" type="button">
<textarea rows="15" id="textarea" name="box" cols="22"></textarea>

I tried to add lightbox to my slide show and it caused the slideshow to stop working correctly. I have narrowed the problem down to this particular stylesheet
Code:

I have a question, I have some JavaScript code that is doing some very basic adding and subtracting then passing the results into a form text box. As soon as I moved the form into a table it no longer worked. Would anyone have a solution or know why this is happening? These pages are not on the web and I am just running it on my computer.

I have this frame on - [URL].. the navigation seems to work intermittently in Internet Explorer. Sometimes the YUI navigation will load and other times it won't. Usually it takes a couple of reloads to trigger it or a fresh load. Something with a cache?

It seems that using the slideUp/slideDown methods on <li> elements causes some odd results.
The following code hides then unhides the items with a class of "hide-show" once the document is ready. These list items lose their bullet point type markers before the text making the whole list look a bit weird.

I've been messing with a countdown clock script...
[Code]...
1. How can I remove the days feature from the clock.
2. Is there a way I can have the counter countdown to 12:00pm everyday day?
So when 0 is reached it doesn't just stop, it'll reset and countdown to 12:00pm again.

I want to change attribute action in form. Problem is that in that form
is also input with name action. Unfortunately renaming of that input is
worst case because many servlets depend on it.
This works in konqueror but not in IE and Mozilla:
newurl= document.forms[i].getAttribute('action');
newurl= newurl.replace('all/', prefix);
document.forms[i].action= newurl;
Do you have any idea how to modify attribute action in this case ?

I have been attempting to transition to use of xhtml strict doctype andmy text editor, BBEdit (on Mac) tells me, when I ask it to check syntax,that the attribute 'name' is not allowed in form object, as in any otherform element that I tried to use it in. This begs the question, how doI script forms with javascript in the context of this doctype? None ofthe javascript texts I have address this issue (O'Reilly Rhino book andothers).I could figure it out, but it appears to be a complicated process, justdoing getElementById() and sorting it out.Does anyone have a reference to material that deals with this issue?

In IE6 and IE7, the following results in an empty jQuery selector being returned:
$("form[name='formname']")
I tried matching on other attributes of my form such as:
$("form[method='post']")
which works without any problems.
It seems that the only situation that does not work is when trying to match the name attribute on forms. I am guessing this is just a browser bug/limitation but is it something jQuery could potentially work around? I just would prefer matching forms by name for certain situations since it makes the most sense semantically in many cases for me. Would love to know the reason why this happens. Found this bug first in jQuery 1.4.4 but forgot about it at the time until it just came up again which I replicated in version 1.5.2 and then again when I upgraded to test in version 1.6.4.

i have found a possible bug in 1.4 but it's only in Internet Explorer 7 & 8.The following code does not work and completely ruins every peice of jquery on the page (that means everything inside $(document).ready and anyting else...
$("<div/>",{
id: 'tooltip-'+rand,
class: 'dock-tooltip',
[code]....
I cant see any syntax errors - i pulled the example from the 1.4 site. There is no trailing commas in the object notation and i really cant see any reason it would work in firefox and not IEx and more to the point not only not work in IEx but break any other jquery in the entire page....

I'm working with a large (and unweildy) ASP.NET application, and there is a lot of jQuery code that uses selectors like this:
[name=_aspnetControl$_withASubControl] And unfortunately, some selectors that also look like this:
[name^=_someAspNetControl$_radioButtonList].
In other words, the effort to remove the $ from the attribute selectors would be monumental. If it is possible to escape the $ symbols, I can do that easily enough, but unfortunately the situation right now means that I can't upgrade to jQuery 1.5.

I'll trying to tell the difference between the following three cases:
<img alt="text string" />
<img alt="" />
<img />
I can do this in Firefox with the following code, where elem is the
HTMLElement representing each image, but IE doesn't seem to
differentiate between empty string and undefined.
var alt = elem.getAttribute('alt');
alt = (alt) ? alt : ((alt===null) ? 'really_null' : "");
The desired output from running this code on the 3 tags above is:
text string
really_null
It seems like this should be really easy...but I'm having a really
difficult time trying to figure out what's going on...

I have the code for a javascript slider in my header. It is supposed to slide a menu out to the LEFT of the facebook icon at the top of my page. Unfortunately....this is not the case. Here are the 2 issues happening. I think they are both related to the javascript, but I do not know enough about it to fix it. [URL]
The attached pic shows what the alignment of the icons, is supposed to look like (my nav menu is pushed down a few pixels, as well). Here is what the sliding menu is supposed to do (top right menu in the white part of the page) [URL]

I am working on a Windows application (in C#) that displays some HTML. In one place the HTML is a status window. What happens is the static HTML page is embedded into the application. The static page displayed and then the C# code gets a hold of the HTML DOM from the web browser and updates what pieces need to be updated.
What I need to do now is change the colors of everything on the static page. At present there is an embedded CSS style in the HTML and all the colors are defined there. Using the DOM, via C# code, how do I change the colors of everything?
1: Can I simply update the CSS and it will auto magically happen? If so, how does one update the CSS via the DOM?
2: Do I need to go to each individual item and change the color there?
3: Is there a better way to do this all the way around?

I just read "JavaScript 101 - Part 1," and had a question about the specific part linked to above:
Is there a more efficient way of switching colors every row other than calling it every time you want to start a new row? Also, how can the row number be increased each time if the variable rownumber is only increased by one within the second half of the function? What if the row is even? Is the number not increased? Code:

<script type="text/javascript">

What am I doing wrong? Eventually I want put all the above in a loop that updates 1,j, and k - and so cycles through all colors.
