Firebug Step Through Code On Event Not Refresh?

Oct 13, 2010

I have some half-working script I'm playing with that I half-understand (this is the real problem) which I'm having troube debugging because it always does work when I refresh.So whenever I step through my functions with Firebug everything does what I expect it to do: but if then I re-invoke my onchange event, not every step is taken and it's hard to see why because I can't "see" what it's doing after the page has loaded and the script run at least once.This is for hide-and-show in a form and all the other versions I see online are even less understandable than what I've got so far. So I figure I'd better debug the one I have.Anyone know how to re-watch a script onevent?

Firebug Showing Obfuscated Code?

Oct 24, 2010

I noticed on the "script" menu for firebug when I click "show static and eval scripts" you can see my entire JS code un-obfuscated by firebug. The default option is just "show static scripts" which shows my code as it is - obfuscated.I was quite frankly horrified to discover this after shelling out on software to protect my work. Does anyone have any idea how I can stop firebug from showing this? Is it because im calling eval a couple times throughout the script?

JQuery :: Live() Event Doesn't Refresh The Class Of The Event Which Was Changed Dynamically

Jul 4, 2009

I got this problem with live() event.I have used it as follows.

$(".addressDiv span").live("mouseover", function(){
//clickable function here......
------------------------
});

I have used the live() event to trigger the function on mouseover in the dynamically added elements. But the problem i got is that once the live event is called it takes the class of the element and stores. And when the class of that particular element is changed dynamically the live() event does not detect the new classed added dynamically, instead it takes the former class. Live() event does not update the class.

Refresh DIV On Modal Window Close Event?

Nov 3, 2010

I am a visual designer that can usually install pre written code without to much difficulty. And, indeed I have installed FancyBox

I am working with a dynamically generated page written in ColdFusion. Three divs on the page contain FancyBox links that open editing screens. Once editing is complete and the user closes the FancyBox modal the changes need to be reflected on the parent page.

Right, so I was able to find a solution that refreshes the entire page

'onClosed': function() {
parent.location.reload(true); }
});

to refresh the entire parent page. But, that causes a browser prompt that is confusing to users and a bit of over kill as I really only need the information edited to refresh.

How, oh how can I get just a single div to refresh "onClosed" as apposed to the entire page?

Floating Cart Code - Script - Every Time A New Page Loads - Or A Refresh Happens

Dec 23, 2010

I have a website with a floating cart and it loads fine and works almost flawlessly . However, when a person has a bunch of items in their cart, and they want to minimize it for the rest of their browsing experience, every time a new page loads, or a refresh happens, the floating cart un-minimizes and expands out fully again displaying all the items.

This can become very annoying during the shopping experience when you have a bunch of items loading and just taking up space in the browser. Therefore, I am wondering if their is some html or script that would save the minimizing in the floating cart, and carry it over to the next page, and the rest of the browsing on site?

JQuery :: Next Step Executed Before Image Attributes Available

Dec 28, 2010

In the following code - Sometimes I get the correct image width and sometimes I get an image width that is ZERO. How do I make sure the loaded image attributes are there before I access them. Odd thing is if I click the same thumbnail twice I always get the width. If I click a thumbnail once I may get the width this time BUT when I refresh I may get a ZERO width.

Here is the code...
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#gallery a').click(function(evt) {
evt.preventDefault();
var oldImage = $('#photoBox img'); // Selects the current image
var newImage = new Image(); // Create a new image
var imagePath = $(this).attr('href'); // get the path to the image file to load that was clicked - via its href attr name
newImage.src = imagePath;// Set the newIamge.src to file name or Path
if (newImage.width < 600) // If the width is less than 600 calculate a new margin to center the new image {
var newMargin = (620 - newImage.width) / 2;
var newHtml = $('<img src="' + imagePath + '">');
$('#photoBox').css('margin-left',newMargin);
$('#photoBox').css('width',newImage.width);
} else
// assume width is 600 {
var newHtml = $('<img src="' + imagePath + '">');
$('#photoBox').css('width',newImage.width);
$('#photoBox').css('margin',5);
} newHtml.hide(); // hide the newHtml before prepending will fade it in
oldImage.hide(); // hide the old image
$('#photoBox').prepend(newHtml); // prepend the newHtml
newHtml.fadeIn(1000,function() { }); // now fade it in
});});

JQuery :: Chaining Animations And Pausing For Each Step

Sep 10, 2009

In pseudo code, here's what I'm trying to do with some text:
shrinkText.changeText.EnlargeText.
The jQuery I'm using for this:
$('span#calendarNumber').animate({
color: '#999',
fontSize: '12px'
}, 500 ).html($('#calculatorSampleInPopup1').val()).animate({
color: '#900',
fontSize: '40px'
}, 2500, 'easeOutElastic' );

What happens visually upon triggering this is this:
- HTML content changes
- text shrinks
- text enlarges
I think what is happening is that the first animation is suppose to span 500 (miliseconds?) but jQuery doesn't pause for that, it just starts the animating and goes immediate to the second event which is to change the text. In otherwords, I think it's triggering correctly, it's just not producing the visual effect I want. Is the solution to put a pause of some sort between the first two events? If so, what's the proper method?

Jerky / Flickering Scroll - Using A Table Instead Of A Floated List For The Menu Might Be A Step In The Right Direction

Feb 8, 2010

I'm trying to create a scrolling menu. Example here [URL] I don't think there's an issue with the javascript necessarily. I've tried alternatively using jquery's animate function with scrollLeft and I still get the flickering. I'm thinking it's more to do with the HTML/CSS. For instance I'm wondering if using a table instead of a floated list for the menu might be a step in the right direction.

Code PHP:

JQuery :: Step Carousel (Removing Fast Forward/Rewind Effect When Clicking Back On The First/Last Slide)?

Aug 10, 2011

i'm New to JQuery and I recently had a problem with encorporating a transition at the beginning and end of my carousel. I found that by default it would Fast Forward/Fast Rewind through all the images at the ends, rather than just jump to the slide and wrap.

I've managed to solve the issue (bar a transition effect from the last slide back to the first) it now jumps to slide one, rather than rewinding through all the images. However (and i know this sounds silly) but i'm having trouble doing the reverse. I'll add both the zip file to show a working model if interested and also post the 2 relevant functions :)

Getting The Key Code From A Keyboard Event

Jul 23, 2005

I've been looking up lots of documentation and trying to work out a
cross-platform method of capturing a keyboard event and working out
which key was pressed. From what I can find, there doesn't appear to be
any standardised keyboard event interface other than this DOM 3 Events
W3C Working Group Note [1]. However, it is only a note and doesn't
appear to be implemented in any browser. Is there another standard that
I've missed?

The Gecko DOM Reference lists event.keyCode [2], but this doesn't appear
to be implemented in Firefox 1.0.2, as e.keyCode in the following
returns 0, regardless of the key pressed. Code:

Event Code Runs Twice?

Feb 23, 2010

Does anyone know why these event codes run twice? E.g. I am using a cookie to keep track of [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [F] by incrementing a variable once everytime it is used. However the code for it runs twice and thus the variable is never odd as it always increments by two.It's the same for the other events, such as [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [S], it runs twice. This was not occuring when I first inserted the cookie code last week. I have read about "bubbling" but I cannot seem to stop the code running a second time.EDIT: Internet Explorer (6+) is only browser code needs to work in.

document.addEvent('keydown', function(event) {
var event = new Event(event);
if (event.key == 'f' && event.control && event.shift) {

OnMouseMove - Event Code - And It Should Work

Jun 7, 2010

I'm writing a JavaScript Equation Editor / Whiteboard App, and i seem to be having a problem with one line of JavaScipt Code.... The Equation Editor is hosted live here:[URL] I have used the DOM Inspector (i'm using firefox) to look at the onMouseDown= event code, and it should work.... However, when i try to drag a Math Element Image to a different location (after it has been added to the page by clicking on the Math Element Keyboard), it does nothing. I looked on the Error Console, and there is nothing there.

I looked at the Node value in the DOM inspector, and it is as it should be. I have also tried changing and removing some double quotes and single quotes, as that has worked in the past on similar code snippets.
