Enter Number Of Exams / Projects With Arrays

Dec 9, 2009

I have to do a project to figure out a person's grade. I am having trouble though, the user has to enter the number of exams, projects, etc. so it cannot be set. How would I do this with arrays? i.e., if I made it exams = new Array(4), this would limit the person to 4 exams even if he/she has more they want to enter in.

JQuery :: Does (and Other Similar Projects) Keep Support For IE6?

Aug 30, 2011

Every 2 to 3 days I check the ticket system to see how the development of the latest JQueryUI 1.9 is doing and how the JQuery is doing. After several weeks of this I have found way too many tickets about IE6 issues and I started to ask myself why does JQuery and actually, many other projects still try to solve problems for somethings that is beyond repair. With this am talking to the fact that:

Change Div Opacity - Allow A User To Filter The Types Of Projects

Nov 28, 2011

I'm adding a sub menu to my portfolio page that will allow a user to filter the types of projects they want to see, but I'm not really sure how to approach this. I have a variety of web design and motion graphics projects all on the same page, and I want the user to be able to "uncheck" one category or the other, and when they do, all the divs for the unchecked category will fade out. This is the page: [URL] Does that make sense? What I'm thinking of doing is applying a unique ID to the different categories, then build a little JS that will change the opacity of those specific IDs somehow. I am not a JS ninja though, and I'm thinking there is probably a more efficient way.

Number / Category Association - Automatically Default Correctly When Put In Just The Number

Jun 16, 2011

When updating our agency's webpage daily, [URL] I am looking for a shortcut to save time.. When I update air quality numbers. I have to put the conditions. Ex.. 50 = good 100= moderate etc etc. As you see here(bold and underlined)

Well instead of having to type good or moderate every-time to correlate with the numbers, I want to find a way the category can automatically default correctly when I put in just the number. Ex, if I put in the number 100, it automatically knows to issue/ put Moderate with out me having to type it. I semi wrote a code .. Yet can't seem to know how to execute. Seeing if Maybe I can get some assistance.

Script For Counting A Number - Want Down To Another Number That Resets?

Nov 28, 2011

I am trying to figure out how to make a random number I can plug into a script count down from that number at certain times of the day until it reaches 0. I would like it to reset itself at midnight every day. I'm trying to make it work with a script I found on here that resets itself at midnight every day. So instead of it counting down too fast, it would count down to the next number after a randomly generated number of minutes until it reaches 0. But it wouldn't necessarily have to end at 0 at midnight. It could go from 845 to 323 at the end of the day at a slower pace. Is that possible?

Arrays And IE

Jul 23, 2005

I've noticed that IE apparently has a horrible implementation of the
array object, since traversing one with as few as 1000 items it tends
to pop up a dialog informing the user that the script is taking too
long. I tried splitting the array into a 10x100 two-dimensional array
as well as changing the array to a linked list, but neither improved
the code's efficiency sufficiently. Can anyone suggest methods for
optimizing array efficiency, or some other workaround for yet another
one of Bill Gates' blunders?

Xml Vs Arrays

Jul 23, 2005

I have a web document created by a script and instead of going back to
the db I choose to either create an array to iterate through or xml to
parse through.

So, my question is: What are the trade offs between using an array to
load data from or an xml structure?

My array would look like:

myarray = [[],[],[],[]]

My xml like:

<xml>
<data>
<a></a><b></b>
</data>
</xml>

I would use js to iterate or getElementByTagName to find data. I am thinking the page would load faster using xml, and then the user may not even use that functionality. In all cases I have to load the array to memory.

Arrays Different In IE And Others?

May 23, 2007

I am with XHTML and CSS as much do I have to learn in JavaScript programming. I’m just beginning to understand and modify the DOM and I ran into something that I couldn’t find a solution for after some extensive search. I have this function:

if(document.getElementById && document.createElement) {
function addflags() {
var children = document.getElementById('pagelist').childNodes;
for(var i = 0; i < children.length; i++) {
children[0].className = 'bulgaria'
children[1].className = 'england'
children[2].className = 'italy'
children[3].className = 'sweden'
}
}
window.
}

The XHTML is an unordered list with 4 list items and sub lists in those list items (plus links in each li) and I want to add a country flag (set as background image in the CSS) to the direct children of the ul (the first level list items).

Now I discovered that Firefox is only reacting to odd array numbers, i.e. children[1], 3, 5, and 7 (the even numbers have "no properties") while IE is applying the classes correctly(?) as intended above (0,1,2,3).

At which point did I go wrong? Sorry if this is a real stupid question but I’m pretty new in this field and my researches didn’t bring any acceptable results.

Arrays Of Arrays...

Oct 5, 2005

Is what I'm doing the right approach to creating an array of arrays? I have an external datafile with several employees' records. They are stored in an array with each element of the array being the complete employee record, ie: name, date of hire, etc., etc. These attributes are delimited by a :. I'm trying to separate these attributes while keeping the original array intact. That way I can access these attributes and validate whether or not an instance of the employee object will occur. There are too many records to create this from the start, so I'm trying to implement a for loop to do it for me. This is what I tried: datafile is the name of the original array of employees. emp is the array I'm trying to create .

for(var i=0;i<datafile.length;i++){
var emp = datafile[i].split(":");
//document.writeln(emp.length+"<br>");
/document.writeln(datafile[i]+"<br>");
}
//document.writeln(datafile[0]+"<br>");
