I have a JS function to check and alert when a user enters some particular special characters(this is bcoz only these characters are not allowed in the back end of the html form, all the other special characters are allowed). following is the code for it.

I am working on a javascript code for validating phone numbers against 0's.The scenario is that, 1 ) If the phone number contains all 0's in it, an error message is displayed. Eg. 0, 0000, 000-000-0000, 000,0000000000 etc..2 ) Phone number should only take digits [0-9] and some delimiters ()-,.+ "All other alphabets and special characters are not allowed.Eg. 01, 102-125-0214, etc.. ( allowed ) sjjlkjkj, xllfs -09-49- ( not allowed )3 ) The code I have written is as below -

I have here a jquery code that load one combobox to another with data from mysql. The point is, the combobox that receive the data from mysql, if I have a name with special character like "~" or "^" any other accent in the mysql, the combobox that receive this data appear a strange symbol like as in the file attached in the place of the letter that is with accent. This page has lots of records based on the number of record data in database. it may print one row in the screen or multiple records, with a radio button in each record. user has to select one radio button to view more details of the record. the radio button has to selected if the user wishes to see more detials of a record.I have used the following code for validation.
Code:
function fnValidate() { for(var i =0;i<form1.radioType.length;i++)
[code]....
This validation is working when the number of records is more than 1. If the record is only one, then the validation is not working.Even if the user selects the only radio button on the screen, the validation is failing and does not allow to proceed further.
I have been trying to get some validations to work in a compound message (ex: If 2 fields are missing requirements show both messages in 1 popup) The submit button doesn't work tho at one point it was but I was messing with the function dunno what occurred. <html> <!-- --> <html> <!-- --> <head><title>Validations</title> <script type="text/javascript"> function validate(){ var message = ""; if (document.registration.name.value == "') { message += "Name is required.\n"; document.registration.name.focus (); } .....
I've wrote a very similar function that works perfect but no matter what i do here, the result is always the same. I can't seem to enter a 2 digit number in the second box for weight and therfore won't work. It seems to work fine for up to 9 lbs though.

I need to create a script that allows a user to enter a number, in either celsius or fahrenheit textbox....then they can click the button and the conversion is placed in the blank textbox
I have to do a project to figure out a person's grade. I am having trouble though, the user has to enter the number of exams, projects, etc. so it cannot be set. How would I do this with arrays? i.e., if I made it exams = new Array(4), this would limit the person to 4 exams even if he/she has more they want to enter in.
How do I onBlur prompt the user to enter a ZERO as character one, if one is not already entered. At the same time, I would like to ensure at least 5t characters have been entered. This validation should also only trigger if anything is entered. Basically, if the user chooses to enter nothing then the check should not be carried out and the user should be able to continue.
So in pseudo style:
If user data IS ENTERED AND DOES NOT contain a ZERO as first character, or is LESS THAN 5 characters long, prompt for re-entry.
Thanks guys, been trying various things and got close, but have hit a brick wall.
This ALMOST works: function checkField() {if (document.form1.Bsk01.value.length<9) {alert("Please enter a valid code. The first character should be a zero.")}else if (/^0.*$/.test(document.form1.Bsk01.value)){return;}else{al ert("Please enter a valid code. The first character should be a zero.")}}
I'm not a JS expert, but is there any way to detect if there is a certain character at the ending of a sentence in a text input field?
for example, when a user puts "Hello, my name is Gary" into a certain text input with a specific ID and using the JS OnChange event, the script will add a period ( . ) if it is not detected.
or, when a period is detected at the end of the sentence ("Hello, my name is Gary."), it won't do anything.
I got this idea from reading the W3 School onchange doc, but I'm not sure if it's possible.
I downloaded jquery today in the hopes it would speed up my development. but its not working at all.
Ive tried including it as an external js and ive tried it directly on the page. regularjavascript works but not jquery. im using wampserver with short tags turned on.
I would post some code but my special keys do not work in this form for some reason. but i can assure u i have triple checked all the code against many different sources and its correct.
like i said regular javascript works fine but jquery code will not. any ideas on what i should check/try?
I have a text area in one of my forms that I want to control the character size of. In short, I want to keep the text area to 10,000 characters.
What I Have Found: I have found a number of scripts that will control the character length of the text area, while you are typing.
The Problem: If you cut and paste a document that contains 15,000 characters into the text area that is limited to 10,000 characters, it will still take all of the information (i.e. the 15,000 characters), as opposed to limiting/cutting it off.
Does anyone know of a script that will control the overall character length whether it be inserted via key stroke or is copy and pasted into the text area? Or possibly point me in the right direction?
I have a program in which a user must enter number of books and price and then calculate the total cost of the items, i have tried and tried to get it working to no effect can anyone see where i have went wrong.
I've been trying to figure out with a search box I've added how it can submit by pressing the 'enter' key rather than just clicking a 'submit' button beside a form. I've tried onkeypress but as soon as you press one button the field submits. I've also seen you can do with keycode==13 but I'm not sure how to add it into my code.
because of the security settings in browsers i can't set the default path value of a file upload field in a form. i was wondering if there is a way to have javascript type one in when the page loads?
I want to bypass from one input field to other one by <enter> (<return>) key pressing instead of default behaviour (<tab> key pressing).But there was default form action on <enter> keydown event was performed. Remember that <enter> keydown event on form means default "Form submit" action. How to prevent default action, form submission, in time of <enter> keydown event processing?
How to modify following code? I use hotkeys jQuery plugin for key binding to input fields.
$().ready(function(){ $(myInputFieldsSelector).bind('keydown','return',function(evt){ //find next input field in the form MyNextInput MyNextInput.focus().select();
A while back, I an working on dynamic form creation. I wanted a user to be able to enter into a text field how many designs he or she would like, then, based on that number, be provided with a pair of text boxes that asked 1) name of design 2) quantity of that particular design. I received this cool way of doing it by user thraddash:
<head> <script type="text/javascript"> function BuildFormFields($amount){ var $container = document.getElementById('FormFields'), $item, $field, $i;
I have an input field with onkeyup event that displays the code of the key the user pressed. The thing is, this works for all the keyboard buttons except for the ENTER key.
