checkbox portion to work properly but I'm having trouble with the
textbox "txtshipping". The default is 7.95 but if changes I need to
change the total.

Below is the script and form fields I am working with. What I want to do is sum the two textbox fields and have the result show in the total textbox. The code works fine and the total textbox is updated with the value of form1.basic. The problem occurs when I add the "+ parseInt(document.form2.supporter.value)" code in the script section.

1. I want the total to be in plain text and not in a text box maybe just drop the total value in a DIV.
2. I want the form to start with a default value for example 200, i have tried adding a hidden checkbox with a value of 200 and setting it to checked as default but it doesnt display 200 in the total when i first load the page it only calculates it when i select the first box and i need it to be displayed as the total even if no options are selected.

The above script is ok if entering the value first time. But when the user changes the value in any text box, it seems to add incorrectly. It adds what was already in the textboxes, then adds it again. How to display the correct value every time the user changes a value in one of the text boxes.

View 3 Replies View Related1) I need to calculate a total dynamically.I have an input with the price of a product and next the amount. As the users inserts the amount I would like the total box to give the amount*price number. So if the price is 3 and user inserts:
1 - then total should display 3. Then the user inserts 0 (amount is now 10) total should display 30.The problem is that when i ask for the value in the onkeyup event of the amount input i don't get the value with the last key (same with onkeypress event). I could add that number (if it's a number) or see if it's backspace or any char but there should be an easy answer.I solved it by setting a timeout and using a callback function so as to have the latest value of the amount but it's an awfull solution (though not expensive in code).
2) Avoid focus reset when i update the value of the amount.I've managed to add commas on the fly to the amount like when the user types "1000" the number displayed is "1,000". In firefox it works great but in IE and Chrome it resets the focus each time i update the field. So when you try to move your cursor back it returns to the last position (maybe because the value of the input is changed).

However, the first value in the textbox always starts with a comma (, ) i.e. (, one, two, three) etc. My current script trys to check if the first 2 characters (substring) are ", " (comma then space) then attempts to remove them. However this hasn't worked and I have no idea what to try next.

I very new to JavaScript and I need to validate a text field after a checkbox has been clicked. This is part of a larger form validation. I am looking for the simplest and easy solution to this issue. I have seen a couple of other examples that are far too complicated for the my needs. The form is asking a user to identify a referral source. If the referral source is a website, it wants the user to provide a URL.
