JQuery :: Use Plugins Dynamically - Make The List Dynamically Calling A JSON File ?

Oct 1, 2010

I am using the Collapsible Checkbox Tree jquery Plugin.For that I have inserted this linein the javascrypt code:

When I make a list in the HTML code using the <ul id="example"> works perfectly.

But when I tried to make the list dynamically calling a JSON file, does not works fine.

If I insert theready(fn) mentioned above inside the javascrypt function that create dynamically the element<ul >as is shown next:

Improves a little bit, but still does not work fine. Specifically does not show the plus and minus sign, then I can not open or collapse it.

I tried also with thecheckboxtree pluginand I encountered the same problem.

Dynamically Change Row Colour On Dynamically Generated Table Rows

Nov 25, 2005

At this point I have been able to add the row. But what I want to do and am having trouble with is alternating the row colour to the dynamically added row element.

Sample of code I am using:

Code:
var tbody = document.getElementById('tableItems');

var row = document.createElement("tr");

var remainder = tbody.rows.length % 2;
if(remainder) {
row.setAttribute("class", "rowLightGreen");
}

var td1 = document.createElement("td");
td1.appendChild(document.createTextNode(qty));
td1.setAttribute("class","qty");
row.appendChild(td1);
tbody.appendChild(row);
One thing that puzzles me, is that even after adding a row the table my table.rows.length still = 0.

Does anyone know how I can determine the appropriate amount of rows so that I can apply the appropriate class?

Or is there just something blatantly wrong in my approach?

Dynamically Changing A DIV

Feb 27, 2007

I have a few radio boxes where a user can choose different options and
I want to show an explanation of each option after it's clicked.
Here's what I have:

<script type="text/JavaScript">

function toggle(o){
o.className = ( o.className == "show" ) ? "hide" : "show";
}

'function describetype(){
' if (window.event.srcElement.value == "starter")
typedesc.innerHTML="A Starter request is for a new employee who's
never worked for cadbury or the Bottling Group before.";
' if (window.event.srcElement.value == "leaver")
typedesc.innerHTML="A Leaver request is for an existing employee who's
permanently leaving the company.";
'}

'function starter(){
'typedesc.innerHTML="A Starter request is for a new employee who's
never worked for cadbury or the Bottling Group before.";
'}

'function leaver(){
'typedesc.innerHTML="A Leaver request is for an existing employee
who's permanently leaving the company.";
'}

function describetype(o){
if (o == "starter"){
typedesc.innerHTML="Starters are...etc.";
}
if (o == "leaver"){
typedesc.innerHTML="Leavers are...etc.";
}
}

</script>

The first "toggle" function works fine but the "describetype" won't
work. Here's the HTML:

....
<td class="layout bold">
<input type="radio" name="reqtype" value="starter"
checked="checked" onclick="describetype(starter)"Starter<br>
<input type="radio" name="reqtype" value="leaver"
onclick="describetype(leaver)"Leaver<br />
</td>
<td class="layout bold">
<input type="radio" name="reqtype" value="mover"Mover<br />
<input type="radio" name="reqtype" value="adhoc"Ad Hoc
</td>
....

The error keeps saying that "starter" or "leaver" is undefined. I'm
not much of a javascript guy (mostly the cut and paste variety myself)
but everything I've seen says this should work. No?

Dynamically Set An Event ?

Feb 5, 2011

Currently I am doing this:

What I'm actually doing is inserting the current time into an existing DIV and updating it every second. THAT all works.

What I want to do is also set an event for that div.... something like this:

Of course, the above doesn't work... and I'm not even sure what to ask for doing a Google search... because I get no hits (or maybe it's not possible).

I really don't want to edit the code itself (where that div is) because it's part of another app that may change as they update it and I don't want to have to re-patch every new release.

Dynamically Add Functions To Other?

I thought about following code snippet code...

Has anyone an idea, if my thoughts on that are correct oder if this behaviour could be a problem?

And is there probably a better way to combine functions, so that all functions would be in one column?

Cannot Dynamically Set OnClick ?

May 23, 2009

I'm having a problem with adding onClick events to <a> tags. The attribute is never added at all, but no errors are shown in the JavaScript console. I'm using Firefox 3.0.10.

Here's my code:

I made sure that the conditional statement was working correctly by adding an alert to the onClick portion, and the alerts worked fine. However, the onClick event is never added, not on Firefox or IE7.

It also works fine if I change each <a> tag's href to javascript: getPage(); , but I don't want to change what shows in the status bar.

var btnFrmCommentBoxButton = document.createElement("INPUT");
btnFrmCommentBoxButton.setAttribute("TYPE", "SUBMIT");
btnFrmCommentBoxButton.setAttribute("VALUE", "UPDATE");
var cellFrmCommentBoxTxtbx = document.createElement("TD");

click on the data (option select lists) in all of the divisions. There
is no problem when I use Netscape.

I would like to dynamically change the z-index to see if that would
help. Can someone tell me how?

Hiding Boxes Dynamically In Ie

Jul 23, 2005

I've got 3 'alternative' boxes, only one of which I want displayed,
according to the value of an earlier select (so I'm using the
<htmlelement>.style property from javascript).

One is a div containing text, which I amend as appropriate with innerhtml
One is an image.
One is a div containing 4 input text boxes, which are disabled or not as
appropriate.

I've tried .style.visibility = "hidden" / "visible" (correctly leaves
blank space, which I don't want)
I've tried .style.display = "none" / "block" (works for moz, ie treats
as visibility)
I've tried setting .style.height & width to "0px" / null (doesn't work
for ie).

Any suggestions as to how to make the thing disappear and occupy no
space (dynamically) in ie as well as other browsers please ?

If anyone really needs to see the page, go to ccaweddingsdirect.co.uk/basket
login with chris at ccagroup co uk (you'll need to accept a cookie) -
the password is set to testz (it doesn't confer any great privilege,
just accesses my test shopping basket).
then click 'enter personalisation' for 4D01 (christmas card)
Select different wordings to change the bottom section - 10 and 'your
own wording' are the intereesting two, and orderpg.js is the js file.

Add New 'li' Dynamically Adds Indentation In IE

May 15, 2006

i need to add another "li" element to a list. The "li" should be with 0 indentation.
When I statically write it (HTML/CSS), with ul/li margin/padding 0 - it
looks great. When I dynamically add it (Javascript) - in IE (and not FF) it's ALWAYS
indented, no matter what!!

This is my javascript code:
var newLiElement = document.createElement('li');
newLiElement.style.padding = &#390;px'
newLiElement.style.margin = &#390;px'

List.appendChild(newLiElement);

newLiElement.parentNode.style.padding = &#390;px' //even tried to update
the "ul" father node
newLiElement.parentNode.style.margin = &#390;px'

Even though - the div in IE looks like this:

List Header
first li
second li

But in FF the div looks like this (and this is the right scenario):
List Header
first li
second li

I event tried to define a new class with padding and margin 0 and use
newLiElement.className = 'no-padding-maring-class-name'
but it's still indented in IE.

Dynamically Add Elements With Javascript?

like to dynamically increase or decrease the inputs based on a user
changing the selection in the drop down box, without submitting the

label is bold). Any ideas on the best way to handle this without
losing any potential city information that may have been previously
typed into the input (i.e. if I type San Fran into city0 and CA into
state0 and then change the number of cities to 4 - I'd like San Fran
and CA to still be populated in city0 and state0). Code:
