Dynamically Add Functions To Other?

Oct 26, 2011

I thought about following code snippet code...

Has anyone an idea, if my thoughts on that are correct oder if this behaviour could be a problem?

And is there probably a better way to combine functions, so that all functions would be in one column?

Dynamically Add Functions To Links?

I have a page where I dynamically add functions to links. I want the links to pop up with the index values, why does it alway popup with 5? I expect 1,2,3 or 4.
See code below:

<html><body>
<ul>
<li><a id="mylink1" href="select">Link 1</a></li>
<li><a id="mylink2" href="select">Link 2</a></li>

Dynamically Adding Javascript Functions On The Fly?

Apr 1, 2006

Might there be a way to add a set of Javascript functions to a display page's existing set of Javascript functions on the fly without reloading the display page, and if so, how?

A couple of approaches I have tried, but without success are:

- A) For an embedded "retriever" IFrame in the display page to retrieve a set of JS functions from the server and then on its "onload" transfer (by innerHTML transference) that set of functions into the parent display page.

- B) Similiar to "A" but to use regular old browser frames - one being the "retriever" and one being the display page.

- C) Using a JS function in the display page to make a http request for a supplementary .js file(s).

Please note: the goal is to retrieve *only* an additional set of Javascript functions from the server, and then add them to an "original" set of functions already loaded into the browser. Meaning, NOT - say - for an IFrame to download from the server *both* the additional set and again the "original" set, which the parent display page could then run directly from the IFrame.

After "A", "B", and "C", I'm at a loss for further ideas.

Firefox DIV InnerHTML Cannot Reach Dynamically Added Functions

Oct 1, 2010

I need to be able to display dynamic HTML inside a DIV (can't tell what the html nodes would be) - i.e needs to be flexible. The HTML that goes inside the DIV would have its own Javascript too. I was able to get this code snippet working on Microsoft IE7+, was wondering why the same won't work on firefox.

HTML Code:
<html>
<head>
<script>
/* the input type = hidden is necessary or the JS won't be accessible */
/* script defer tag is also necessary */
function insertHTMLOnButtonPress() {
var s = "<html><input type='hidden' id='dummyHidden'/><head><script defer='defer'>function dynamicallyInsertedFunction() { alert('Successfully called - dynamicallyInsertedFunction'); } </sc" + "ript></head><body><input type='text' value='Hello World'/><input type='button' onClick='dynamicallyInsertedFunction();' value='Call Dynamically Inserted Method'/></body></html>";
/* Clearing out innerHTML is also required to flush the innerHTML so that repeated attempts - i.e new HTML/JS should work */
document.getElementById('wholeBody').innerHTML = '';
document.getElementById('wholeBody').innerHTML = s;
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<br/>
<!-- Don't close the div inline, causes some problem and replaces the buttons too -->
<div id="wholeBody"></div>
<br/>
<input type="button" onClick="insertHTMLOnButtonPress();" value="Insert some dynamic html"/>
<input type="button" onClick="dynamicallyInsertedFunction();" value="Call Dynamically Inserted Method"/>
</body>
</html>

I have tried a couple of things likeRemove the script defer tag
- Removing the dummy input element added which is required for Desktop IE
- Removing the empty innerHTML step before replacing it
But none of these appear to work for Mozilla firefox. I am also looking for a similar behavior on Android's default webbrowser (WebView to be more specific) -- Doesn't work there too.

JQuery :: Dynamically Declaring Functions - 'array' Variable Contains Strings Representing The Id's Of Different Elements

Oct 12, 2010

Demonstration code:

The 'array' variable contains strings representing the id's of different elements. If the for loop above were to finish iterating, would all the links in all three elements call the click function (that displays an alert message), or would only the last element ("element3") have the click function? For me, the latter seems to be the case unless if I'm doing something wrong, but I would like clarifications and, if possible, alternative solutions as to how I can achieve the former result.

Getting Nested Functions To Work Within Functions?

Aug 20, 2009

I have written a number of functions designed to return frequency data on 1000 randomly chosen numbers using different math functions for the rounding. I would like to include all of these functions within the wrapper of another function so that only one call is needed to get returns from all of the 'inner' functions. However, while each of the functions works in isolation, the moment I wrap them in another function they stop working. :confused:

The following code is one of the functions 'frequencyWrapperOne' that has been wrapped in the function 'testWrapper'. A call to testWrapper does nothing.

function testWrapper()
{
function frequencyWrapperOne()
{

JQuery :: Use Plugins Dynamically - Make The List Dynamically Calling A JSON File ?

Oct 1, 2010

I am using the Collapsible Checkbox Tree jquery Plugin.For that I have inserted this linein the javascrypt code:

When I make a list in the HTML code using the <ul id="example"> works perfectly.

But when I tried to make the list dynamically calling a JSON file, does not works fine.

If I insert theready(fn) mentioned above inside the javascrypt function that create dynamically the element<ul >as is shown next:

Improves a little bit, but still does not work fine. Specifically does not show the plus and minus sign, then I can not open or collapse it.

I tried also with thecheckboxtree pluginand I encountered the same problem.

Dynamically Change Row Colour On Dynamically Generated Table Rows

Nov 25, 2005

At this point I have been able to add the row. But what I want to do and am having trouble with is alternating the row colour to the dynamically added row element.

Sample of code I am using:

Code:
var tbody = document.getElementById('tableItems');

var row = document.createElement("tr");

var remainder = tbody.rows.length % 2;
if(remainder) {
row.setAttribute("class", "rowLightGreen");
}

var td1 = document.createElement("td");
td1.appendChild(document.createTextNode(qty));
td1.setAttribute("class","qty");
row.appendChild(td1);
tbody.appendChild(row);
One thing that puzzles me, is that even after adding a row the table my table.rows.length still = 0.

Does anyone know how I can determine the appropriate amount of rows so that I can apply the appropriate class?

Or is there just something blatantly wrong in my approach?

I think my brain would have exploded otherwize. Some of the problems have been simple misspellings, but when you have been staring at the same thing for hours it can sorta slip by.Bascially Im not sure if Im using the function command properly. When Submit Details is click it should validate the form and then when Calculate is pressed calculate the form (obviously).I think maybe my var Array table is wrong? And the way the functions are set out doesnt seem it sit right.

Functions

Define the function dollarToEuro, which consumes a number of New Zealand dollars and produces the Euro equivalent. The current exchange rate is approximately one New Zealand Dollar to fifty five Euro pence. Code the function in JavaScript. Prompt the user for an amount in New Zealand dollars and display the result.

So far i have done this coding :-
var nzd = Number(prompt("Enter The Amount Of New Zealand Dollars", "10"));
function dollarToEuro(nzdollar)
{
return (50/nzd)
}
document.write(nzd, "NZD =", dollarToEuro, "Euros");

It is not working.

the validation.

function checkToDate() {

End Date : <input type="text" name="txtToDate" onBlur="checkToDate()">

Javascript Functions

Jul 23, 2005

I am learning HTML for the first time taking a self teaching class
though my local Community College. Normally this college rocks and has
some of the best resources and down to earth teachers that pick books
that acutally help folks.

Well they failed and my book take more logic jumps that Stephen
Hawkins! :D

So my ultimate question is as follows:

How do I created a function with the following information provided:

Create a fucntion named Mquote that contains the single parameter,
Qnum.

My apologies for such little information. I am sure its my oversight
that I am unable to locate the answer to my question.

What I am looking for is the base layout for noob java functions.

Working With Functions

I want a function to take another function as a parameter, and execute it as a line of code. I put a simplified example below, just to illustrate the idea. Does anyone know the syntax to do this, or is there perhaps a better approach entirely?

// EXAMPLE

doSomething(5, 10, functionA, functionB);

function doSomething(x, y, myFunctionA, myFunctionB) {
if (x > y) {
myFunctionA();
} else {
myFunctionB();
}
}

function functionA() {
// some code
}

function functionB() {
// some code
