I need to be able to display dynamic HTML inside a DIV (can't tell what the html nodes would be) - i.e needs to be flexible. The HTML that goes inside the DIV would have its own Javascript too. I was able to get this code snippet working on Microsoft IE7+, was wondering why the same won't work on firefox.
HTML Code:
<html>
<head>
<script>
/* the input type = hidden is necessary or the JS won't be accessible */
/* script defer tag is also necessary */
function insertHTMLOnButtonPress() {
var s = "<html><input type='hidden' id='dummyHidden'/><head><script defer='defer'>function dynamicallyInsertedFunction() { alert('Successfully called - dynamicallyInsertedFunction'); } </sc" + "ript></head><body><input type='text' value='Hello World'/><input type='button' onClick='dynamicallyInsertedFunction();' value='Call Dynamically Inserted Method'/></body></html>";
/* Clearing out innerHTML is also required to flush the innerHTML so that repeated attempts - i.e new HTML/JS should work */
document.getElementById('wholeBody').innerHTML = '';
document.getElementById('wholeBody').innerHTML = s;
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<br/>
<!-- Don't close the div inline, causes some problem and replaces the buttons too -->
<div id="wholeBody"></div>
<br/>
<input type="button" onClick="insertHTMLOnButtonPress();" value="Insert some dynamic html"/>
<input type="button" onClick="dynamicallyInsertedFunction();" value="Call Dynamically Inserted Method"/>
</body>
</html>
I have tried a couple of things likeRemove the script defer tag
- Removing the dummy input element added which is required for Desktop IE
- Removing the empty innerHTML step before replacing it
But none of these appear to work for Mozilla firefox. I am also looking for a similar behavior on Android's default webbrowser (WebView to be more specific) -- Doesn't work there too.

I've found a few posts on adding an event to a dynamic element, but that doesn't really help me. What I'm doing is allowing the user to add a textbox, then when a button is clicked i need to find the value for that text box, but it doesn't seem to pick up that the textbox is there.
Oh and that textbox is part of an array of textboxes, all of whose values i need.

I have a form where the users can add "name" and "id" fields by clicking on the "Add" button.
The input fields look like this (each pair is a row):
The 'name' and 'id' attributes are dynamically named with the integer increasing in value, by 1, for every new field.
As this is client controlled, I do not know how many rows there will be...

In my application I render a couple of elements dynamically after the user selects an option in a dropdown list. When the user selects another option in the dropdown, I want to remove all the previous elements that was added dynamically. I've tried with the .Remove() function, but it seems the elements cannot be found in the DOM. I've looked a lot at the .live() events.

I am trying to get a dynamic table going. You click a button to add a
row. In the newly created row a button to delete the row is placed
(try the code example below). In Netscape, pressing the delete row
button crashes the browser. Why ? What is the correct way to do this ?
I am stumped why this following code works in IE and Opera but crashes
Netscape 7 (ie makes it disappear and try to send a bug report etc).
Any help would be much appreciated.
Copy and save the following code example and try running in Netscape 7
(or Mozilla 1.4) . It works fine in IE 6 and Opera 7. I've tried all
sorts of tweaking around but to no avail.
I need some expert help. Perhaps suggest the correct or other better
way of implementing this.
Here's the code:

I have the following html:
<div id = "container"></div>
<div id = 'containerItemTmplt' class = "ui-widget-content">
<div class='contentHdr' onclick="test(this)" />
</div>
i then use jquery to clone 'containerItemTmplt' and add it to 'container':
var copiedElem = $('#containerItemTmplt').clone(true).
.attr('id', 'paneI1')
.appendTo('#container');
This works great and i confirm using I.E. 9's developer's tool utility that the element was indeed added with the correct id as a child of 'container'.
However in my test method, when i inspect the element that was copied, the id attribute is an empty string:
function test(elem)
{
var parentItem= $(elem).closest('div')[0];
alert(parentItem.id); //<--this displays an empty string despite
}

I am generating HTML based on user actions (in this case, populating a table with the result from AJAX calls).
In my context, I have a link where there is a Quantity field, which I would like to be editable. When I create the html, I give a unique ID to each row, (to reference to a JSON object), however I am unable to get the ID for said row, seeing as the DOM tree is parsed on the pageload and doesn't seem to update when I add elements to the page.
This means that $(this).parent('tr').attr('id') is not returning anything at all.
How would I make it so I can retrieve the ID of my row (which was created/added to the page after it was parsed)?

I am selecting an image as part of a html form. Once selected, jQuery assigns a user-defined attribute of the image to a hidden form variable and passes it to form handler. Problem is when I dynamically add images that can be selected. I am using live function to ensure that the dynamically added image is highlighted when clicked - but the user-defined attribute is not being grabbed by jQuery.
I think that when the page is first loaded, all the existing image attributes are loaded into the DOM, but when extra images are added with ajax, the DOM doesn't have the new attribute values, despite them appearing in the html on the page. I don't think I can use the live function in this instance, because an attribute is not an event. Out of ideas now. HTML/PHP, with jQuery:

I've got a database written in MySQL with a bunch of PHP interfacing with it. What I want to do is populate drop down menus on a form from this database.
The way I went around solving my problem is as follows.
Code:
Which calls the function from the search.js file, which performs the following operation:
Code:
With element2 being the appropriate preemtied dropdown box, and addOption defined as follows:
Code:
So far so good. This works and produces the correct list of elements in the first dropdown box if the first dropdown box is the target. Here is where things begin to go wrong: On this form I have an add more elements button which is defined as follows:
Code:
And addElement being defined as such:
Code:
While this does successfully create all the cells I want it to create, when I attempt to select Country from the resulting dropdown, I get an empty drop down wit only the "Search For" present in it.
Firebug then proceeds to flag array in selectorfunc above:
Code:
What i believe is going on is that for SOME reason the newly created drop downs aren't being passed js_countries correctly. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix it.

When the user select an option in a dropdownlist, new dropdownlist elements are added dynamically using jquery. When a user clicks on a new option i the first dropdown, I want all the dynamically added events to be removed so that I can render new ones. But it seems the dynamically added events haven't been added to the DOM, so they cannot be removed. Is it possible to remove them? In that case, how? I've read a lot about .Live(), but my problem is not regarding an event - I just need to reach an element(?).

I have links that, when clicked, open up a larger image. If the link has the class of "sold selected" then a semitransparent "sold" image should dynamically load as well. What I'm noticing is that it seems to appear on every other click, and I don't know why.
I've created experimental files so as not to disrupt the functioning site. [URL]
I added the variable "linkClass" on line 18; value assigned on line 53 as part of the linker.click anonymous function IF statement on lines 106-108 at bottom
I also have an alert on line 105 just to prove to myself that linkClass was appropriately setting (it is). Images 4-12 should all have the "sold" banner attached, but no matter which of those I click first, the clicking previous/next makes the banner appear/disappear.

compare the original code with mine before I explain the issue:
jquery waypoint demo:
Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.top').addClass('hidden');
$.waypoints.settings.scrollThrottle = 30;
[Code]....
The issue: the sticky class is added. Fine. But when I resize the window, it disappears, which does not happen with waypoint original demo.
I thought that maybe the problem could be that #nav parent element is <body>. But the same issue exists if I add a #wrapper div.
