Dynamic PHP Drop Menu To Perform Rather Than Submit Button?

Nov 23, 2009

I currently have a PHP menu that drops the appropriate brand names to select by brand. The selection is made by pressing the submit button. The goal is to select a brand utilizing javascript to pass variables on to the brand.php page rather than 1)click the brand then 2) click the 'submit' button. I have very little js experience, so I'm looking for suggestions on examples, links, tutorials,

Dynamic Drop-down List - Create A Dynamic Menu Where A User Selects One Item And Another Select List Is Shown

Jun 30, 2009

I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:

Dynamic Drop Down Menu

Dec 23, 2005

The menu would be such that, there will be a drop down menu with options let’s say Microsoft, Java, Oracle, now if a user chooses let’s say Microsoft a list menu already in place would display some Microsoft item like MCP,MCSD and so on. Then the user would be able to make multiple selections from the populated list menu.

I apologize cause I drop any code for this, I am coming from a PHP background and just know a handful of JavaScript.

Drop Down List Value Returned On Submit Button Being Clicked?

Jun 24, 2009

I have a drop down selection box with items in it. I need to be able to pass the selected item through using an onclick event for the "Submit" button. Is this possible?

I have a Javascript that is calling a div to popup. This div is the drop down selector. I want the user to click a button to make the drop down appear, then they must select an item in the list and then hit submit. The submit button being clicked I need to bring in the selected value from the drop down and use it in the script that originally told the div to pop up (this is the first button that the user clicks, it actually runs the script which passes 2 variables, and is basically waiting on the drop down selection to save into a 3rd variable, which will then call a PageMethod).

I have

function AddTemplateToUUT(uutnumber,testerid){
var templatename=SelectTemplateToAssign();
PageMethods.AddTemplateToUUT(testerid,uutnumber,templatename,CallbackDiv,CallbackErrorAlert,'divchecklistarea');
ShowSelection('divtemplateblock','hide');

Dropdown Menu Without Submit Button

Oct 6, 2003

I'm trying to make a dropdown box in Javascript that doesn't need a submit button. Easy enough, right? Well, the only difference with this one is that I want the links inside to go to a location within the same page.

But I keep getting an error in this code: Line 47 - Character 1 - Object Expected. That tells me absolutely nothing! What about you? Can you tell me what's wrong with the code?

The stuff before the HEAD tags is

Code:

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function goToAnchor(form) {
var f = form.anchorList;
var selectedAnchor = f.options[f.selectedIndex].value;
return location.href = selectedAnchor;
}
//-->
</script>
The stuff within the BODY tag is

Code:

<form>
<select name="anchorList" onchange="goToAnchor(this.form)">
<option value="javascript:void(0)" selected>This is a test...</option>
<option value="#link1">Link 1</option>
<option value="#link2">Link 2</option>
<option value="#link3">Link 3</option>
</select>
</form>

Visual Button Initiates Another Drop-down Menu On Mouse-over ?

Oct 9, 2010

I'm rewriting our website at present, and am quite ok with HTML and CSS, but am not particularly au fait with Javascript.

Here's the page I'm having a bit of trouble with: [url]

If you look at the long button marked 'Diagnostics', you'll see it has an arrow and initiates a drop-down menu on mouse-over. My problem is that I wish to further subdivide the three items on the sub-menu, ie, Visual to become sub-menued into Dermatoscope and Penlight. In other words, the Visual button initiates another drop-down menu on mouse-over.

Basically, therefore, I'm trying to expand the Javascript to make this happen, but I just don't seem to able to.

JQuery :: SlideToggle Open One Of Two Hidden Sub-nav Bars When Either Of Two Different Menu Items Are Clicked Upon - Instead Of A Drop Down Menu

Oct 26, 2009

The purpose of the code is to slideToggle open one of two hidden sub-nav bars when either of two different menu items are clicked upon - instead of a drop down menu. What doesn't work is the hiding of the div that is not required, if it is already open. Viewing in firebug shows that the appropriate classes are being applied - I suspect the reason is that slideToggle has been somehow set and cannot be unset via another object - but perhaps that is not it at all?

$(document).ready(function() {
//add .toggle function to appropriate li element
$('#hozmenu li:nth-child(4)').toggle(function () {
//set 4th menu links colour to be green whilst div is shown
$('#hozmenu li:nth-child(4) a').css('color', '#95d890');
$('#toggle_nav_services').removeClass('toggle_show');

Dropdown Submenu - Make A Horizontal Drop Down Menu With A Sub Menu ?

Nov 3, 2009

I actually want to make a horizontal drop down menu with a sub menu.As far as I have researched, I think that it can be done by JavaScript. I have searched for some java scripts but they are very long and complex.

That made me wonder that for a funcitonality like a Drop down is so complex?

So here is my question : Is there any JavaScript that can be applied for drop down menu exclusively? Which just presents logic of drop down solely?

Jquery :: Sub Menu Animation - Add A Nested Menu To The Drop Down

Dec 5, 2010

, I'd like to think this is fairly simple but unfortunately my knowldege of jquery is limited to using prebuilt scripts and changing a few variables to get what i need. I created a drop down menu with a slide down/up animation for submenus, which worked out just as I wanted. I ran into troubles though when trying to add a nested menu to the drop down, but with a slide animation going from left to right. I'm sure my explanation isn't very clear, so please take a look [URL] The nested submenu I am speaking of should only open when hovering occurs on the 'Item 01' link, but as you can see it also opens when hovering over the buyers link. Secondly, my attempt to slide from left to right on this ul is not working, it seems to be sliding down even though this was not defined in the code.
