Dynamic Include Page? Change What's Included As Mouse Moves?
Jul 20, 2005
I want to set up an Include page in a cell of a table. Then I want to be able to change which page is included on the fly as the user moves the mouse of the various links on the page. How can I do this?
THe include page was set up via FrontPage so it put it's Bot stuff in there, but if someone could tell me the "standard" way to use an include page and if there's a way using onMouseover etc to then change that and refresh it on the fly, that'd be great.
I want to display the question and answer in the following way. When the user moves his mouse to one question, the question will be expanded to show detailed answer of that question.
For example,
1. What is UML?
2 How to implement it?
3 What is the advantage of UML?
When i move the mouse to the Question 1, the question will be expaned and have a detailed answer of it; if i don't move to there, the outline won't expand.
I search for a long time, but have no clue. What functions should be use???
I'm using the apycom jquery menu style 1 (dim grey)URL..It's a great looking menu but does anyone know how to 'delay' the dropdown menu closure when your mouse moves off of it?I can change the speed of the menu opening and closing, but not can't find a way to delay.It's too easy for visitors to 'slip' off the menu and if you have two child menu's, it get frustraing if you drill down to the secon child menu and slip off. You have to go back to the top menu and start again.
I have seen this script a few places, not sure it was jquery but I figured it was.
I am looking for a script that opens a lightbox when someone moves the mouse over to close the browser window or change the url or type in the search bar, a lightbox pops up.
I spend a bit of time searching and can't find the script.
So, I have a dynamic PHP file on my server. I want to make it so browsers can take the code I provide and paste it in an .html, .php, or .asp file, and it'll display across the board.
The file would need to be included, unless someone thinks there's a better way of doing this?
The only example I could think of would be Google Adsense's code? But I'm not sure.
I wonder if it's possible to implement a menu like the one ofcbs.com?Basically, when mouse over some of the menu items, a menu panel shows up with a few columns of links. The many panel disappears when the mouse moves out. I think it's quite neat and I'm hoping to be able to do something like that with jQuery.
Based on the lack of responses to the last hole (which I am attributing to one of the following:
a. The hole being too difficult,
b. It being overly time consuming, or
c. People not wanting to do it)
I have decided to take a step back for this hole.
Create a Javascript include function. This function should include a javascript file (when given a URL) into the current page assuming it wasn't already included in the page (either via the include function call or by HTML). If the file is already included the function should just return.
This function should either take a file name/ path to file or a full URL as a parameter. If it is a filename/ path the function should include the file from the base URL of the current site (such as [url]). If it is a full URL just include it.
Make sure you don't allow files to be included multiple times, we don't want that!
I am trying to find if a script exists to have an image slide-show which moves to the right when the cursor moves to the right and so on for the left. We have managed to find someone else who has done exactly what she wants but it's in flash and I have no experience at all in flash. So I was wondering if anyone knows of a script which does the exact same thing? Below is the link to the site where they have managed to do what we are looking for in Flash: [URL]
I am still designing the website and want some flexibility. I am capturing the mouse clicks fine on top of an image, but the coordinates are absolute and not relative to the image. How can I capture mouse clicks relative to the image so that I can move the image anywhere in my website?
I want to create a dynamic way to change the page titles on a website. I am currently using a php include feature and due to the variable data required for a title/meta is there an easy way to control this from one file and then include it in a similar way?I don't really want to go through lots of pages manually amending it in the future?
With the following code I can change the mouse pointer. However, if you click in Mozilla (with IE it works perfect) on 'Show hourglass' the mouse pointer changes only if you move the mouse at least on pixel.
<html> <body> <script type = 'text/javascript'> function show_hourglass() { document.getElementById("my_href1").style.cursor = "wait"; document.getElementById("my_href2").style.cursor = "wait"; }
Is it possible to use Javascript to dynamically change the PHP file used for an include?
For example, if I have a php doc like
I can get Javascript to remove the included stuff, but I can't figure out how to change the <?php include('onefile.php'); ?> into <?php include('otherfile.php'); ?>.
I have done a little work on a simple script to change images on mouse over and on mouse off. It was meant to be a very simple one but it is not working and I am not quite sure why.
Here's the coplete html and script code:
And I have attached them too, they are very small files. Can't quite understand what I got wrong and when I hover on the images they don't change.
I have an odd issue for which I hope someone has a solution. I'm using the jQuery accordion to display a list of links in the left column of a table. When I click to expand the accordion in the left column, the table data in the right column moves to the right for a moment and then moves back to it's original position when the accordion finishes expanding Here is a link to the page:
When you mouse over the image, it shows a magnified section of the image next to it. I've been trying to reverse engineer it but so far no joy, I'm not getting the image to the left to appear.
I have written a function that adds up numeric values from a multiple textfields on a page and writes the sum to the total textfield. I would like to move this from the page to an include so I can re-use on multiple pages. How do i reference the active page in my script. This is an excerpt from the function...
<script type="text/javascript"> function calctot(section) { if (section == "A") { /* Section A1 */ A = (document.frmSRData.A_BCI_RI_Public_Prod.value * 1) + (document.frmSRData.A_BCI_RI_Public_Perf.value * 1); document.frmSRData.A_BCI_RI_Public_SubTot.value = A;
I know this is not supposed to be that way, but somehow that's the only way it works for me. First I include
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="fadeslideshow.js"></script> where fadeslideshow.js is jQuery-based http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/fadeinslideshow.htm But I also want to use jQueryUI, so I have to include it:
A question for the experts - let me first say that I'm not a coder, but I'm sufficiently competent to mess around with somebody elses code!
This is what I need:
I'm developing a website for a private railway, and wish to display a 'today's trains' panel on the front page of the site - there are up to twenty timetable diagrams, each of which has its own small html page file.
I need to figure a way of calling a different timetable panel to be displayed according to day of the year (ensuring that the correct timetable is displayed each day). Obviously I have a copy of the complete timetable, and it seems I need some code that will call a particular page according to what's happening that day.
Does anybody have any idea how a simpleton like me can set this up?
I'm trying to embed an HTML fragment from one web page into another web page, using AJAX (as the fragment will change frequently). I'm using prototype.js for AJAX.
I've managed to fetch the HTML content of the slave page, but I can't figure out how to get just the part I want from the XML string returned in the AJAX request. The prototype.js AJAX function just returns a text sttring that I need to parse...but how?
Child Page: hello.html
Code HTML4Strict:
I want to include the <h1>Hello</h1> in the parent page.
Parent page: demo.html
Code JavaScript:
Obviously it's the fragment = resultDoc.getElementByClassName( source_fragment_name ); part that I'm having difficulty... It may not even be the right function - HELP.
The resultDoc=parser.parseFromString(transport.responseText,"text/xml"); seems to work, because the subsequent alert() works fine, but how do I get the page fragment identified by the source_fragment_name.
The alert("Fragment = " + fragment ); never happens, so the previous line has serious problem.
So, just to clarify, I simply want to parse the content out of one page, and embed it into another, in real-time, using AJAX.
I am not terribly familiar with Javascript but i am looking forward to learning, and currently the problem I am facing is this:I have an a file being included to an .shtml document, that serves as my navigation, the code is like this:
I have recently worked on a flash based learning course and built functionality where users throughout the course can type in their own notes based on the course, and they can revisit these everytime they launch the course, the functionality is simply using flash cookies to store the notes on the users machine. I wanted to build functionality so that they could then save these notes to their hard disk and e-mail them on. To do this I call a javascript function from flash which opens a new webpage, passes through the notes from flash and uses document.write to write the notes to the new webpage. Then the user Saves (as web page html only) to save a copy to their machine.
The problem is I want to do this web page up a bit more, add graphics etc. but if I save as web page html only it won't include any images I add to the html page, and if I change it so that they save as (Web Page Complete) rather than write the webpage out with the notes it will write the webpage with the code document.write(string) but as this is on the users hard disk now string will be undefined as it no longer run alongside the course. Is their any other way anyone can think of doing this type of functionality, I am trying to stay away from using PHP
I have tried to write a wait function but it seems like it will not brake the while loop. I tried two different solutions. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, and come with another suggestion? If I call the function like this: wait(500); it should wait 500ms right?
function wait(time) { while(1){ setTimeout("break;",time); } }
function wait(time) { var flag=0; while(flag=0){ setTimeout("flag=1;",time); } }
