Detecting Browser Support For Specific URI Schemes
Apr 8, 2009I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to detect if a browser supports a specific URI scheme with javascript. So far the only close-but-wont-cut-it solution seems to be looping through navigator.plugins and check for plugins known to support these schemes, but that wont cut it (not maintainable, lacks perenity and have not found such a list). I have HTML anchor tags which use the geo [URL] and tel [URL] uri schemes. These are recognized by the iphone web browser (at least, tel I'm sure of) but not by the more general browsers.
If I click on any of these links in an nonsupporting browser of course, I get a nice browser alert box telling me the scheme isn't supported. But you cant trap that with javascript. I've tried fiddling around with window.navigator and even tried some iframe embedding magic to see if this would work, no success yet. What I want to do is detect I the scheme is supported and if not, prevent the links from a) appearing as links and b) be clickable. So far, I've been able to hack something out of firefox with this:

Mar 17, 2010I'll get to the hierarchy sensitive part next, but for now I need help making this even work with two top-level links. I'm building a left-navigation that's expandable. Click a little + box image to the left of a top-level section's link, and all the links to sub-sections within that section expand out, the + box image becomes a - box image, and clicking the - box collapses the sub menu links. The scripts below work so long as I just have one top-level section, but because they us an ID for the +-box image, when I add a second top-level menu item, the swapImage function no longer works. Draw A Triangle With CSS / Script?
May 12, 2010Well, not really a question but I'm pretty pleased with this JS I wrote I had to create triangles for this project I'm on, but there really isn't much out there in the way of that. Especially for things like mouseover effects.
Give it a go, let me know what you think! The only limitation atm is one side of the triangle MUST be flat, facing NSE or W. It's going to have functionality for specifying any 3 coordinates soon, and dragable capability as well a few more bits.

However, I find the ability to only load one draw at a time to be limiting.
I am looking for a plugin that functions exactly like the accordion and processes the HTML in the exact same way, while using the standard UI css that allows for more than one draw to be open at any time. I still want the first draw to be loaded first, and would like a 2nd click on a draw header to collapse the draw.
Anyone care to either assist or help out? I have dabbled, but everything I have tried so far requires css be added to the base html which I do not want.
I want this:
To be handled just like the accordion would handle it, while allowing more than one draw to be open at once.

Now this code works on ios safari 4.2 and later but i can't get it to work on ios safari 4.1. On 4.1 it displays the canvas but will not draw the image. The debug console shows no errors. Is there anyway to get it to work, or is 4.2 the cut off point for even the most basic canvas operations?
