The following function works fine provided you call it from the body's onLoad property.
Code:
function disableSelection(target){alert('in');
//disable text selection if drag in progress so we don't highlight text while dragging panels over other panels
if (typeof target.onselectstart!="undefined") //IE route
[code]...
I put an alert inside the disable function and it DOES hit it onload, but you can still select text on the page.
I am creating a data application where users must be able to select table rows to perform actions on it... Think in terms of Yahoo Mail. I have written a script to select clicked rows and to deselect them when clicked again. I also added shift button functionality and 'escape' to deselect all.
However my problem arise with my click and drag to select multiple rows. It works fine in FF and IE, I have managed to disable text select in these browsers because it looks awry, but have not managed to achieve the same effect in Opera. Code:
I've put a onsubmit="return false;" on my html form. I wanna prevent the browser from asking metop password saving bar, when i press send button, 'cause i'm trying to model an ajax form.I've tried the following:
[CODE] $('#target').submit(function() { alert('Handler for .submit() called.'); // debug
I have this code for animating a vertical menu. It changes the width of a menu item to using .animate().
So the behaviour now is: When my mouse is over the menu item, it expands (width 220px), when I remove my mouse it shrinks back (width 95px). Now I want it to stay expanded when I click on it and shrink back and expand a new menu item when I click it.
Menu item are listed, using different css classes for designing their looks.
does anyone know how to apply onselectstart and ondragstart to just one image on a page?
All of the posts I have found so far suggest adding these to the body tag. The disadvantage of this is that it prevents users from selecting anything at all on the page.
I need to isolate this to one particualr image. I've tried adding the selectstarts to divs, the img tag etc but it doesn't seem to work.
I'm working on a JavaScript that is enabling / disabling a select element according to whether a checkbox is selected or not. This works fine in Firefox, but in Internet Explorer (v 6.0.2900) it appears wierd:
When I disable the selevt element in IE, it continues to appear as enabled (falsely) until I try changing it.
When I click on it, updates itself as grey as to indicate that it is disabled.This is wrong. I want it to appear as grey and disabled the moment it is disabled via JS.Is this a bug in IE, or should I do this different way (code below).
Is there perhaps some way to "update" the select element so that it appears as disabled once I disable it with JS? (without having to click on it to probe if it is disabled or not) Code:
I have set up a JSFiddle to demonstrate what is happening:[URL]... Basically if All content types is checked already and is clicked when checked then searchAjax should not be invoked. It currently invokes the function. When it is not checked and clicked then it should behave as it is now (disable sibling radio button and uncheck all associated checkboxes).
I am unable to disable a text box when a form loads. It worked before with attr() instead of prop() in earlier versions, now with 1.6.2, it does not work.
The first page with the menu works just fine, but when you go to any of the other pages it won't let you highlight the text to copy and paste - in certain circumstances. It works fine on my home computer which is running Windows XP. I've been able to work with it in all browsers. On Windows Vista and Windows 7 there are issues. The only real difference is the previous/next page menu and the switch div script which is written in Javascript. This is the only thing I can think that's interfering. I've only tested Internet Explorer and Chrome in Vista (don't know about Chrome in 7) but it inhibits in both browsers.
Might there be any work arounds? On 14.html which is the Index (as in book, not the main web page) the switch div is gone but it's still not working. However, I tested just the switch div script on another web-site without the previous/next page menu and that also doesn't work.
In forms, we have all seen where people have numerous options to choose from in a SELECT field, or they can select Other, and type something in a different text field.
I would like to be able to disable this Other text field if the SELECT isn't on Other.
I know how to disable the submit button, but I don't know how, or even if, you can disable/enable a specific text field.
Not 100% sure why or how to make this work.I have 5 options in a select drop-down. Only two of them are to disable a text field. I have written it successfully to disable on one option. How would I add the second option? I have tried many different ways, and i know its something small that i am missing.Below is the code that does not work but shows the 2 options that disable my text field.
<script type="text/javascript"> function type_disable() { var qr_type = document.getElementById('qr_type');
I have a password text field, where copy paste from anywhere must be disabled. I have a textarea where the user must be limited to enter only 250 characters. <textarea name="description" id="description" maxlength="250" rows="4" dojoType="dijit.form.SimpleTextarea" style="width:200px;overflow:auto;word-wrap:break-word;">${fn:trim(status.value)}
I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:
<head> $(function() { //function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
i am trying to pass text from one select box to another select box. The logic is if 10 are added, no more passing must happen. Also if an item is already added, it mustn't be added again.I am using the for loop to check the existence of an item but it is not working: what am i doing wrong?
Code: function PassSelectValues(){ //pass values from select boxes to select boxes var counter;[code]....
why isn't counter incrementing at all? The alert message box does appear saying item exists but the item gets added anyway.
I'm trying to get a select box to display text from a database in a div tag from the select box populated by a while loop that also pulls from the database. The only way I can do this is from a javascript written by sending it over to a second page and I need it on just one page. Here is my code below:
i m using jquery datepicker .it's works fine in all other browser except IE the only problem with IE is that the when i m using datepicker it wont fire my text change events IE.works fine in all other browse . if i remove plugin then IE fires text change .so the only problem with datepicker + IE my page is .aspx and i m using .net
Alright, I'm using a Rooh.It WordPress plugin right now, but I don't like the way they do it, so I want to write my own code to do something similar.
I want the user to be able to select the text they want to highlight, and the background color of that text changes to whatever color they have selected.
I am trying to add an onchange event to a select tag.
This is my code, but it does not appear to be working.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1250">
I want to make one application using javacript or may be it is in ajax. Let me explain my problem: I have one select box name person which have value 0,1,2,3,4,5 . Now i want that when user will select value 1 from select box then person 1 first name , last name input type box will appear only one time in a row. and if we will select 2 from select box then two row will appear naming person1 and person2 like this: if we will not select any value by default is 0.then it will not show any row regarding person.
Does someone can help me with the following problem? I have a SELECT form tag, with some OPTIONS elements. I am using the following code to detect a click in the SELECT.
.... document.onclick = fnc_document_click ....
function fnc_document_click(){ if(window.event.srcElement.id == "my_lst"){ ...... } }
How can I avoid the "if" if user click in a area of SELECT out of the options elements? (The SELECT object is higher than the the goups of OPTIONS its contains)
In other words, how can detect if the click Iinside the SELECT element) happens in a OPTION element or not?
How can I trigger a jquery event for when a user changes the option that is selected in a select statement? I need to update a variable with the new selected item when this happens.

I'm currently having a problem with getting a change event to fire when changing the values of a select box. I've put together the sample code below to show what I mean.
I am trying to make one application. When we slect value from select box . It will show same type of row according to which value we select from select box.
Let me explain my problem: select box have value 0,1,2,3 . When we select 1 then it will show one row below the select box naming person1 name (input box for name of person1). if we will select value 2 from select box then it will show two row according to select value Like this
person1 Enter Name of person1 person2 Enter Name of person2
By default it have value 0 then it will not show any row below the select box.
i want to do this. But i do not know how i can do this . I think for this i have to onchange event in select box .But in correct way i do not know how it is possible.
