I am creating a data application where users must be able to select table rows to perform actions on it... Think in terms of Yahoo Mail. I have written a script to select clicked rows and to deselect them when clicked again. I also added shift button functionality and 'escape' to deselect all.
However my problem arise with my click and drag to select multiple rows. It works fine in FF and IE, I have managed to disable text select in these browsers because it looks awry, but have not managed to achieve the same effect in Opera. Code:
The following function works fine provided you call it from the body's onLoad property.
Code:
function disableSelection(target){alert('in'); //disable text selection if drag in progress so we don't highlight text while dragging panels over other panels if (typeof target.onselectstart!="undefined") //IE route
[code]...
I put an alert inside the disable function and it DOES hit it onload, but you can still select text on the page.
I am trying to make a webpage where I wish to disable text selection on entire body without affecting text input in a form by user. Though I found a couple of javascripts on the net, they don't seem to work with all three browsers (IE, FF, Opera). Code:
I have the AJAX-script. It eats memory about 4Kb per one callback. Script reflects messages from server application in real-time. I form messages, and put them into the iframe. If mesages more than 40 last message delete. Can you check the script and say about my mistakes? Code:
I want to transfer the data form webpage to any other own application which is running in backend.How i develop this web page. which technology is good for this or any particular protocol i have to use for this. Please suggest if any idea regarding data transfer.
I've googled the heck out of this, and although I'm finding plenty of solutions, I'm having trouble understanding them. I'm very new to jquery, and brand new to ajax. My problem is, I have a php application using several jquery effects. I've just started learning ajax and it is going really well, this stuff is incredible! But all the ajax loaded data loses the jquery effects. I get that it is a DOM issue, and I've seen that others have used "live" (i think?) to fix this, but I honestly just have no understanding of how toimplementanything that I'm seeing.
This is part of my ajax...
And this is the main effect I need to get working.
I have a simple PHP form and to prevent double data submission, once the user has clicked 'submit', I want to disable the submit button using JavaScript. It was recommended in another thread that one could accomplish this using jQuery and the following code:
does anyone know how to apply onselectstart and ondragstart to just one image on a page?
All of the posts I have found so far suggest adding these to the body tag. The disadvantage of this is that it prevents users from selecting anything at all on the page.
I need to isolate this to one particualr image. I've tried adding the selectstarts to divs, the img tag etc but it doesn't seem to work.
I'm working on a JavaScript that is enabling / disabling a select element according to whether a checkbox is selected or not. This works fine in Firefox, but in Internet Explorer (v 6.0.2900) it appears wierd:
When I disable the selevt element in IE, it continues to appear as enabled (falsely) until I try changing it.
When I click on it, updates itself as grey as to indicate that it is disabled.This is wrong. I want it to appear as grey and disabled the moment it is disabled via JS.Is this a bug in IE, or should I do this different way (code below).
Is there perhaps some way to "update" the select element so that it appears as disabled once I disable it with JS? (without having to click on it to probe if it is disabled or not) Code:
It works fine in Firefox and Google Chrome but not in Opera and Internet Explorer.If you don't have Firefox or Google Chrome,when you click an element, if should be lighter green, rolling out of a clicked element, it should be darker green. The same happens with elements that are not selected, ubt they are gray. But in IE and Opera, when you roll out of a selected element, it is gray.I can't debug it in Opera because I have no debugger there, like Firebug.
I am unable to disable a text box when a form loads. It worked before with attr() instead of prop() in earlier versions, now with 1.6.2, it does not work.
The first page with the menu works just fine, but when you go to any of the other pages it won't let you highlight the text to copy and paste - in certain circumstances. It works fine on my home computer which is running Windows XP. I've been able to work with it in all browsers. On Windows Vista and Windows 7 there are issues. The only real difference is the previous/next page menu and the switch div script which is written in Javascript. This is the only thing I can think that's interfering. I've only tested Internet Explorer and Chrome in Vista (don't know about Chrome in 7) but it inhibits in both browsers.
Might there be any work arounds? On 14.html which is the Index (as in book, not the main web page) the switch div is gone but it's still not working. However, I tested just the switch div script on another web-site without the previous/next page menu and that also doesn't work.
I stumbled on this problem while testing StatusNet for our next release; we use jquery.form's .ajaxForm() to do various AJAX form submissions, including the primary message-sending form which includes a file upload control.
We've not seen problems before, but since upgrading from an old Form plugin version 2.17 to 2.49 a couple months ago, I've noticed our development branch no longer works properly in Opera: the actual submission goes fine, but we're unable to access the XML return data (which usually contains HTML fragments to put back into the UI).
I have a test case which demonstrates this at [URL] (source of the main page & submit handler are included there), using current jQuery 1.4.4 and jquery.form 2.52.
Under Firefox 4.0b10 and other browsers, the forms submit correctly, and we can read nodes and text out of the returned XML just fine.
But on Opera 11.00 and 10.63, the submission goes through but we get back an HTML document containing only "<head></head><body></body>". On Opera 9.63, it also includes the text "Blank page."
I tried to trace this down in jquery.form's history, and the trouble seems to have started around 2.39 with a commit ironically titled "iframe load fix (mostly for Opera)", which changes the event handling for forms submitted via iframe: from that version on, a 'load' event handler is added directly as an onload attribute on the iframe's source, whereas previously it was added with attachEvent or addEventListener.
It looks to me like the iframe is throwing a load event for the "about:blank" page, instead of for the submission.
I can revert back to 2.17 or another working version for now, but I'd like to make sure this is fixed upstream;
In forms, we have all seen where people have numerous options to choose from in a SELECT field, or they can select Other, and type something in a different text field.
I would like to be able to disable this Other text field if the SELECT isn't on Other.
I know how to disable the submit button, but I don't know how, or even if, you can disable/enable a specific text field.
I Am making a site for tattoos and i see somewhere an application in Java for changing text, it was simple text box where you write the text you want and down you choose the Font and down you have the text you want in the wanted fond.
Not 100% sure why or how to make this work.I have 5 options in a select drop-down. Only two of them are to disable a text field. I have written it successfully to disable on one option. How would I add the second option? I have tried many different ways, and i know its something small that i am missing.Below is the code that does not work but shows the 2 options that disable my text field.
<script type="text/javascript"> function type_disable() { var qr_type = document.getElementById('qr_type');
I have a password text field, where copy paste from anywhere must be disabled. I have a textarea where the user must be limited to enter only 250 characters. <textarea name="description" id="description" maxlength="250" rows="4" dojoType="dijit.form.SimpleTextarea" style="width:200px;overflow:auto;word-wrap:break-word;">${fn:trim(status.value)}
A little time ago, I posted a [question] on these forums about matching all non-closed HTML tags with a regexp. I needed it because I am creating a emulated textbox which can also handle HTML tags, a so named WYSIWYG editbox. There are a lot of these already, but non of them work with the Opera browser.
This is what I have got so far. The code will work in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Opera. Please be aware that it does nót work completely bugfree and you will also not see a caret so you just have to guess where you are typing.
I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:
<head> $(function() { //function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
i am trying to pass text from one select box to another select box. The logic is if 10 are added, no more passing must happen. Also if an item is already added, it mustn't be added again.I am using the for loop to check the existence of an item but it is not working: what am i doing wrong?
Code: function PassSelectValues(){ //pass values from select boxes to select boxes var counter;[code]....
why isn't counter incrementing at all? The alert message box does appear saying item exists but the item gets added anyway.
I'm trying to get a select box to display text from a database in a div tag from the select box populated by a while loop that also pulls from the database. The only way I can do this is from a javascript written by sending it over to a second page and I need it on just one page. Here is my code below:
I m having a text data of around 6 page length in a text editor...I want to print dat data using window.print. For that i displayed dat data in a html page and used window.print(). Bt my client wants dat some line spaces shud be inserted first in the starting of the page and on the second page also...After that the printing shud be normal... How can i set the page in such a format...?
