Wondering if there's a better way than what I'm doing to disable that when a user presses Enter, the form is submitted.
I'm catching the enter key onkeydown events. And it works fine on input boxes but I noticed that if a user selects something on a drop down menu and presses the enter key, the form is also submitted. As far as I know drop downs don't have an onkeypress event.
Is there a way to cancel form submission when the Enter key is pressed? Or any ideas how to catch this event on a drop down?

I would like to allow the user to be able to use the Enter key in lieu of the submit button on a page that has several forms.I'm assuming that toaccomplish that I need to detect which form's elements are being edited (have focus?) and programmatically fire the submit button's action for that form.How do I do something like that?

Within my project, using PHP/HTML/Javascript, I am trying to set up a page where a corresponding submit button is enabled when a given checkbox is checked. What complicates my attempt is that the checkboxes and submit buttons are in the form of arrays. Here is a snippet of my code:
<form name="myform4" id="list_apps" method="post">
<?php
for ($i=0; $i<$num_rows;$i++)

I want to disable a function when a user is pressing control or command using Javascript. Is this at all possible? My reason for doing this is because I recently implemented lightbox to my script, but I still want users to be able to open the image in a new tab by just clicking control or command when clicking the image rather than opening it in lightbox (which it does).

1. What is the benifit of having the above code with "window.onload" and "for loop" and loop through the forms if I only have ONE form in html?
2. What is this line of code "document.forms[i].onsubmit" saying? Does it mean "Execute function() when submit button within form[i] has been pressed?"
3. function() - Does this empty function mean "run every following function below"??

I have a form with the following structure:
<form onsubmit="getsearchdata();">
lots of input boxes here
<input type="submit" name="submit" onsubmit="getsearchdata();">
</form>
In Opera, whenever someone presses the <enterbutton, the form is
submitted and the onsubmit does not event get any attention. When the
submit button is clicked, it obviously works.

I have a page with many forms that I need to change from a post to an ajax call. That part is working, no problem, but now I want to disable the submit button while it's waiting on the server response and then re-enable it when the response comes back.
Here's what I have:
$(function() {
$('form').each(function() {
$(this).submit(function(){
[code]...
I can't figure out what my selector should be to get the submit button of the form that's being submitted. What should I be using instead? Also, if the call errors out, I'd like to just post the form as usual.

I have a form without a submit button. It gets submitted programmatically with document.form.submit().
What I need is to be able to disable this form's submit capability on page load and then reenable it at some later point. Remember there is no 'input' button element.
Code:
What I've tried so far is like this:
savedSubmit = document.inputs.submit;
document.inputs.submit = None;
then later:
document.inputs.submit = savedSubmit;
but this does not work. How can I do this?

I want my radio buttons to become submit buttons as well. So when a user clicks on a radio button it submits the action and refreshes the page accordingly. As of now using only using onclick="this.form.submit()" the page only refreshes with no change. Here is a copy of the entire form. It is a custom shipping options form (I did not create it).
<!-- Custom shipping form -->
<form action="" method="post" name="update_shipping">
<table width="300">
<tr>
<td><label>
<input <?php if (!(strcmp($_SESSION['shippingmethod'],"1"))) {echo "checked="checked"";} ?>

I currently have a form that uses ajax to check the entered values to validate them. My problem is that I want the js function to run when the enter key is pressed.
I had this:
My idea was that when they press enter, it will run loginUser(), and not reload the page.
It works in Chrome perfectly. In IE and FF though loginUser() doesn't get ran. The return false though works, so the page isn't being reloaded.
I've also tried this (Without the space in javascript of course):
That didn't work in any browser (loginUser() was never ran).
So does anyone have a way to get this to work? I also have jQuery included in case someone knows a way to do it with jQuery.

I am using the following script on a password form. When the user types in the correct password and clicks on the LOGIN button eveythings works like it should (index2.htm comes up). I would like it to do the same thing if the user presses the ENTER key after typing in the password. I am not a JAVASCRIPT Programmer. I found some examples and encorporated them below. When you type in the wrong password and hit ENTER, you get the proper alert message. however, when you type in the right password and hit ENTER, the screen just refreshes and stays with index.htm. I need to to display index2.htm in the same window. Any thoughts?
Code:
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript">
function entsub(event,lform) {
if (event && event.which == 13)
logIn();
