Text: 1. having a javascript src file to start, and then when the button is clicked, that is formatted to white, the text layer is moved down, and a new javascript file is loaded?
Cleaner Way To Reference Table Data?
Nov 5, 2002Using DOM in IE 5.5 I'm dynamically building table rows containing HTML input elements (checkboxes, text boxes, etc.), one element per TD. Note that these rows are clones - all the element id's for a given element are the same across rows.
Now, For certain things I need to reference two or more elements in the same row. For example, if I check this checkbox I want to enable that text box.
When I click a checkbox I know what it's parent is (the specific TD) and the grandparent (the specific row).
My current effort has me grabbing the table row where the click event happend then, using a pair of nested loops searching for the specific field I want. It works, but it looks like overkill to me. There's gotta be a more elegant way. I don't want to search through all the childNodes when I know which field I want, and it has an id unique to that row.
Can I reference things by their id? In other words I want to say something like this:
thisRow = variable reference to the TR object containing the clicked-on element.
thisRow.theTDid.theCheckBox'sId.checked = false;
or at worst:
thisRow.getElementById("theTDid").getElementById("theCheckBoxId").checked = false;
These don't work but what would? I want to avoid blindly iterating through all the TR's childNodes inside a loop going through all the TD's childNotes, looking for a specific data entry element.

Sep 16, 2010Since IE 6 doesn't recognize type selectors in css (input[type=xxx] {}) I'm adding classes to elements dynamically so I have handles for the different types of <input/> elements.Here's what I'm using, but it feels sloppy (maybe not the most efficient approach?). Is there a better/less verbose/more efficient way to do this?

But the problem is, the images start at full opacity when the page loads, and I want them to either a) start from 0.3 or even better b) fade in to 0.3 from 0.

Dec 2, 2010I'm using Cycle to transition multiple (8) images at one time. I want to fade in the first 8. In a slideshow where only 1 image displays at a time, the Cycle FAQ advises using the following code to fade in the first image:

This doesn't work on IE or Firefox at all; it kind of works on Safari, in thatthe fade actually works. However, this seems to have also changed the behavior of the slideshow. For some of the cycles, instead of sliding the slides off the page, it hides the old slides and slides in the new ones.

What I want is to have about 10 small images to be displayed horizontally and have each of these images fade in and out at random times and being replaced by other images.

Jan 19, 2010I'm building a website which uses javascript to cycle through and fade images in the header portion of each web page. The javascipt os located in an external file and called via the master page. Here is the code in the content.js file which specifies where the images are located:

Each webpage loads the masterpage. If the webpage is located at the root of the project, the cycle and fade functionality works great. When I start to place some of the webpages in separate folders - which I need to do - the cycling and fading functionality breaks down, meaning the images cannot be found. The image place holder is there with the standard red "x" in the upper left. I have done a lot of research and tried many approaches to try to resolve this issue, but with no success. The root of the problem seems to lie in the fact that I cannot apply Page.ResolveUrl within the content.js file.

It works well but when I preview the page with JS disabled all images become visible and it messes up the layout. What I need is a method that works when JS is disabled.
