I'm extending the number of rows of a table by cloning the last row (=newLastRow). Each row has a single input tag in it, with a name which includes the row number and an onclick function call which passes the row number to the function:<input type='text' class='clickable' name='inp8.1' size='20' value='xyx' onclick='toggle("table8");'>The new cloned row has an input tag with the same parameter value as the cloned one, obviously. I need to increment this: name='inp9.1', 'toggle("table9")'.y question is simple but I'm just starting with DOM: how do I refer to the input tag in the newLastRow so I can change these values?

I'm new to jquery so I'm having a bit of an issue cloning a table row and having all of the id's change correctly. I'm able to clone a row with no problem and change the id of the tr after clicking a button by doing this:
var newId = document.getElementById("id").value; // This works because I am using a hidden input for my id $(id).clone().attr("id", "row" + newId).insertAfter("#div_id");// This changes the id of row The problem I am having is when I want to change the other id's inside of the tr. After insertAfter() I'll do the following: .find("span").text("Item" + newId).find("#Item_A" + oldId).attr("id", "Item_A" + newId);
The first .find will change the text with no problem, its when I get to Item_A that it will keep the old id instead of incrementing to the new id. Yes, I am declaring oldId as a variable and assigning it as newId - 1. Any ideas on how to make sure all id's are incremented properly?
I am currently making a website with 2 Frames, top and bottom. Top Frame will be a table.Bottom Frame will be a row with the information from the last row *you* clicked in Top Frame.

I am building a schedule web page and before I just had it use plain static HTML and CSS to control the styling. I wrote some javascript that goes through the table's rows, then cells (double for loop), and if the cells innerHTML == "" then the style class is changed. I do have some working code, however it only works in IE. Here's a copy of the script:
<script type="text/javascript">
for (var i = 0; i < document.getElementById('table').rows.length; i ++)
for (var j = 0; j < document.getElementById('table').rows(i).cells.length; j ++)
if (document.getElementById('table').rows(i).cells(j).innerHTML == "")

I'm new to Javascript so bear with me. I'm trying to change the bgcolor of specific rows in a table, here's the code for one of the row:
<tr id="testing" valign="top" bgcolor="#<?= $defaultcolor;?>">
<td><?=$lang[store_name]?></td>
<td>
<select name="namebg" onChange="document.getElementbyId('testing').bgColor=this.options[this.selectedIndex].value">
<option selected="selected" value="">Select Row Color</option>
<option value="FFFFFF">White</option>
<option value="F0F8FF">AliceBlue</option>
<option value="00CC99">Green</option>
</select>
</td>
</tr>
I tried to use style.getBackgroundColor but that didn't work either, please, any help would be appreciated.

All of which are working but one thing. I cannot seem to make the DIV element visible. I have tried several things all of which have not worked. how to make this DIV element visible using JQuery? Here is one of the things I tried which didnt work... dv1 being the ID for the div.

I need to write to table cells in a given column. To illustrate:

I'm populating a table from my database using .Net and within this application, I am then comparing the value the user has entered to the first column of every table row in the pre-populated table.For some reason, when I loop through each row in the table and return the value in the first column...the value always stays the same when in fact i know its different by just looking at it on the screen and in the html source.I throw up an alert message for each time it loops, and it its looping the correct amount of times, just not returning a the correct value.

Since IE does not support hover for elements other then link I would like to use an event listener via attatchEvent to change the style of the row when the mouse is over and then again when it is out.

myElement.attachEvent("onMouseOver", IEmouseOver);
myElement.attachEvent("onMouseOut", IEmouseOut);

What I am sketchy on is how to create the functions to change the row background color.
I'm the webmaster for a recreational organization. As part of one page of the
site, I have an HTML "Calendar at a Glance" of the organization's events for
the month. It's a simple table of a calendar, 7 across by whatever needed
down, and I manually create it each month - not a big deal.
Every day I go in and darken the background color of the current day's cell
by changing the appropriate <TD> entry to <TD bgcolor="c63800"> and uploading
the page. Takes well under a minute start to finish. Thus the calendar
gradually changes color over the course of the month, with the past dates dark
and the future dates lighter and thus more apparent to the eye.
But I have to ask if there's a nifty way in which this might be done
automatically, based on the current day and the number (the day of the month)
that follows the <TD> entry.
A typical "before" entry is
<TD>23<br>Peet's Coffee, Newport Beach<br><br>8 AM: Don<br>9 AM: Molly</TD>
and an "after" entry is
<TD bgcolor="c63800">23<br>Peet's Coffee, Newport Beach<br><br>8 AM: Don<br>9
AM: Molly</TD>
I don't pretend to be a javascript heavy, but can usually stumble my way
through a task given some words of wisdom. Is this "doable"?

I'm super new to any kind of java script. What I want is a menu that, when clicked, changes the background color of a table cell to blue. When a different option is clicked, the current highlighted table should turn back to gray and the new selection should be blue. Well, I have all of that working. What I need now is just to have the first option start out highlighted and to become unhighlighted when another option is clicked.

I have a div 'readroot' that I clone. I change the change the id and
name of the childnodes of 'readroot' to the original name plus a
number(counter).
The problem is I have i have a div 'serials' inside 'readroot' and the
childnodes of 'readroot' are not modified with the current function i have.
What is the best way to modify the childnodes of the div serials?
I guess i could put another for loop inside the for loop of the
moreFields function but i am thinking a recursive function could do it. Code:
I am trying to add a tooltip to an element (based on vertigo-[URL]... Normally, works fine, except when I clone an element which has a tooltip in it and append it to another element, the title disappears after the first time it is hovered over. Code is below, and a live example is here.

This is handy when making dynamic forms. Will reproduce and return a duplicate of an existing select menu. Just pass the id of the select you wish to clone.
function cloneSelect(objid)
{
var sel=document.createElement('select');
obj=document.getElementById(objid);
var len=obj.childNodes.length;
for(var i=0;i<len;i++)
{
if(obj.childNodes.item(i).text)
{
var opt=document.createElement("option");
opt.value=obj.childNodes.item(i).value;
str=document.createTextNode(obj.childNodes.item(i).text);
opt.appendChild(str);
sel.appendChild(opt);
}
}
return sel;
}
I use such code to clone blocks:
element = document.getElementById(IdOfElement)
element = element.cloneNode(true)
new_element = document.getElementById(IdOfElement).appendChild(e lement)
Anybody knows how to set id for the new element ? I mean the id which I coud
use in CSS stylesheet for setting css properties of new element.
I have an <input type="file" name="image" /> in an html form that get's submitted via method="POST". But I can't submit this normally, since this is all I want submitted, and there is already a <form> tag defined above the code and than below the code, closes the form with </form> that must remain there. Since, there is no way to have forms inside of forms, I am using Javascript to create a form and submit it on the fly. But I need to get a copy of the file input element defined in the document.forms.creator form.
I handle the action with a php file that calls $_FILES['image']['name'] and $_FILES['image']['tmp_name']. The problem is I need to create the form on the fly, must clone the <input type="file" name="image" /> so that it obtains the $_FILES['image']['name'] and $_FILES['image']['tmp_name'] and submits it all on the FLY! Here's what I got so far, coded in php, but you can see the Javascript in there as well. It submits it fine, but $_FILES['sigImg']['name'] and $_FILES['sigImg']['tmp_name'] are NOT SET for some reason...
echo '<tr><td colspan="2"><a href="#" name="sig' . $user_info['id'] . '"></a><center><b>Signature Image Rotator</b></center><br /><center>
Add Image: <input type="file" size="48" id="imagefile" name="image" /> <input type="button" value="Upload" onclick="createFormAndSubmit()"></center>';
[code]....
I have tested this in IE 8 and doesn't set $_FILES['sigImg']['name'] and $_FILES['sigImg']['tmp_name'] to anything. I don't want the value of the file input, since this will be different depending on the browser. And in IE 8, you'll need to have some settings enabled to be able to get the full path, otherwise will return "fakepath".
I have two selectboxes containing several option. I am able to move options from one selectbox to the other selectbox (by .insertBefore for example).
However, when I clone those selectboxes, the cloned selectboxes behave incorrect. I am able to move options from one to the other, but they won't show correctly. Only after a browser resize or minimize/maximize window will the selectboxes be 'refreshed' to reflect their real content. See the following code example. Bottom selectboxes are clones of the top ones. Code:
I have a page like this:
<div class="clone" style="display:none;">
<input type="text" name="test" />
<img src="icon_delete.png" class="delete"/>

Below code is in html
<div id="firstdiv">
<input type="text" class="cal"/>
</div><input type="button"/>
Below is in head tag
$(function() {
$('.cal').datetimepicker();
});
Following in .js file
$(document).ready(
function(){ /* here goes the code for div clone*/
$addTripBtn.click(
function(){ var $firstCal = $copydiv.find(':text');
$($firstCal).bind('click', function() {
$('.cal').datetimepicker();//$('$firstCal').datetimepicker();
});
I have textboxes in div wherein onclick I get a calender popup. Now I have to repeat this div on button click for which I used clone() method. Repeating div content is working fine but when I click cloned textbox for calender it is not working.
i have following code:

Its adding a new row with all child elements but i am unable to assign unique ID's. I'd like increment ID by one or append existing id with some unique number.
Also when i refresh page all loaded elements gets removed. Is there a way so that these newly added rows,Td, text boxes and select stays even when page is refreshed.
