JQuery :: Click Event Not Working When Cloned?
Feb 27, 2011I have a page like this:
<div class="clone" style="display:none;">
<input type="text" name="test" />
<img src="icon_delete.png" class="delete"/>
[code]....
I have a page like this:
<div class="clone" style="display:none;">
<input type="text" name="test" />
<img src="icon_delete.png" class="delete"/>
[code]....
Below code is in html
<div id="firstdiv">
<input type="text" class="cal"/>
</div><input type="button"/>
Below is in head tag
$(function() {
$('.cal').datetimepicker();
});
Following in .js file
$(document).ready(
function(){ /* here goes the code for div clone*/
$addTripBtn.click(
function(){ var $firstCal = $copydiv.find(':text');
$($firstCal).bind('click', function() {
$('.cal').datetimepicker();//$('$firstCal').datetimepicker();
});
I have textboxes in div wherein onclick I get a calender popup. Now I have to repeat this div on button click for which I used clone() method. Repeating div content is working fine but when I click cloned textbox for calender it is not working.
I am just now starting to use the jquery clone and validation features and I'm having a little issue.I am using relCopy plugin to clone the elements and the jquery.validate.js plugin to validate that they are not empty.
The javascript is as follows:
<!--script to make clones of fields-->
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function(){
var removeLink = ' <a class="remove" href="#"
[Code]....
Only the original select and text field are getting validated, the form submits even if a cloned element is not filled in.
i'm appending a child div in a parent div. parent div has alreadychild div's which have classes ws_c1 and plus.
$
'<div></div>'
.addClass
[code]....
I know that it should work in those browsers, so hopefully someone can tell me where I'm going wrong.I created a function....it does not sit inside the document.ready function, so maybe that is part of the issue. I am not sure how to accomplish this another way. Wasn't sure how to pass an argument to the function using an anonymous function in document.ready. The idea is to have a side navigation panel that shows/hides divs on the page. I am creating a website for my upcoming wedding and want to do it all on one page and just fade in the divs. If I click on 'ceremony' for example, I want it to hide any open divs, then show the ceremony div. For the divs I always want on the page, I gave a class of 'static.' That is the reason for the 'not' condition in the code. I hope I have explained clearly enough. Here is the code,Btw, this does work in firefox6 and ie9 without issue.Here is the javascript:
function showDiv(showThis){
$(this).click(function() {
$('#containers > div:not(.static)').css('display','none');
[code]....
I have the following HTML:
<div class="content"><button class="showalert">Show Alert</button></div>
<button class="blaat">Test button</button>
With this jQuery code:
$('.blaat').click(function() {
$('.showalert').replaceWith('<button class="showalert" name="test">Show NewAlert</button>');
});
[code]....
I have a div (#disclaimer) that has the css property of "display:none." The following jquery script is supposed to show it when the #test select option is clicked. The #quest,#comp,and #other divs are supposed to hide it again. It works fine in FF but does not work in IE. I have narrowed the reason down to the .click event on the select menu because it works fine on regular text.
[Code]...
When I load the page the div #forgot_login blindes down even though I did NOT click the anchor link. Also, clicking the anchor link does not toggle it up and down. The event binding is not working.
HTML
<a href="#" id="forgot_login_link" title="Show">Show</a>
jQuery Event
$("#forgot_login_link").click(show_hide($("#forgot_login")));
Here is the show/hide code:
function show_hide(p_Element) {
p_Element.toggle('blind', { direction: "vertical" }, 500);
}
I had the following, which worked perfectly:
<a href="#" class="page">1</a><a href="#" class="page">2</a><a href="#" class="page">3</a>
and the jQuery:
$('.page').click(function() {
console.log("you clicked");
});
But now when I add the links within a div, it stops working.
<div id="newsPages" class="pageNumbers">
<a href="#" class="page">1</a><a href="#" class="page">2</a><a href="#" class="page">3</a>
</div>
This frustrates me so much, because shouldn't it still find the links? I tried the below just to make my selection more precise (even though I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter if there are no other links of that class on the page):
$('#newsPages .page').click(function() {
console.log("you clicked");
});
$('.pageNumbers .page').click(function() {
console.log("you clicked");
});
I have the following code
Code:
$('a').live( 'click', doIt() ) ;
...
function doIt() { return false }
However, the 'return false' does nothing. If I click a link the event is not stopped and the page it points to is loaded!
So, what could I do, given the above code, to stop the click event ?
UPDATE: I inspected jQuery object and changed doIt to
Code:
function doIt() {
$.Event.preventDefault();
$.Event.stopPropogation() ;
}
Does not produce errors, but didn't stop the event, but I feel I'm getting closer
I have a button that is a facebook button that is coded as:
<div class="fbshare1"><a class="login-button"><span>Like</span></a></div>
In a js file, I reference it by
$('.fbshare1 .login-button span').live('click', function(e) {
It works fine in Firefox and IE8 but IE7 doesn't recognize the click. Is there a reason for that or is some other kind of problem?
I wrote a simple javascript function but I cant get it to work upon a button click event because it keeps telling me that "object is expected" ? could you please identify where the error is? Heres my code
<html>
<head>
<title>Test</title>
<script type="text/Javascript" language="Javascript">
function output(){
alert("Hello world"); }
</script>
<head>
<body>
<input type="button" name="btnSubmit" value="submit" onclick="output();" />
<input type=button onclick="output();">
</body>
</html>
It keeps indicating me that there is an error when calling the method on button click.
I would like to create a plugin that I can put before a click event on a button. The click event should occur if the user's time on the page hasn't expired. The plugin should check the user's time, and then stop the click event if the time has expired. With the plugin, I'm essentially putting two click events on the same button, as I need to check the expiration when the button is clicked. The plugin is working on my test page, but I'm afraid that this is contingent on an arbitrary ordering of the click events by jQuery. If I have my click event chained after my plugin, can I be assured that the plugin would always stop the click event if the time is expired? Or could jQuery execute the click event before the time gets checked?
(function( $ ){
$.fn.checkExpiration = function(
$this = $(this);
return this.each(function(){3

How can I give a click on a link when it is just created and added to DOM?
None of this works:
function openProfilePage(profile){
$('#profile-link').remove();
var link = $('<a/>').attr({'href':'profile.php?user='+profile, 'target':'_blank', 'id':'profile-link'}).css({'top':'-200px','left':'-300px', 'position':'absolute'}).html(profile);

I have an object that has a click event I'm trying to trigger. However in the click event I have the following if statement:
if(event.button != 0){return true;}
This if statement allows right clicks to go through and activate but it also prevents me from triggering the event. Any ideas on how to prevent this? If I remove the if statement from the first click function everything works as intended.Here's my example code based off of the trigger event examples:

JQuery click event fires on second click but not on first. I have had this happend before some time ago.

'#region_dc').

The click works fine. Check the checkbox, the hidden div displays. But when I uncheck the checkbox, I want it to go away.
I create buttons from an array of objects that such as:
buttons = [{ text: "button 1", action: 1}, {text: "button 2", action: 2}];
I then loop thru the array to assign the text and bind the click event after having created the buttons with IDs of "button_<index>".
for( var index in buttons ) {
$("#button_"+index).html ( buttons[index].text )
.click( function() { clickButton( buttons[index].action ) } );
}
The text appears correctly in the button, but every button defined only fires the list bound click, in this example the action equal to'2'whether I push "Button 1" or "Button 2".My actual case has four buttons, all firing the event for the fourth button.I've tried not chaining the .click(), going thru the loop twice once for the .html and once for the .click, neither of which made a difference. If I hard code each button .click, it works fine.
I want to call the click event of the link (anchor tag) on the click of the button. I used this code below in the click event of button to call links click event and it works fine in IE.
document.getElementById('linktag').click();
But, this doesn't work in Firefox. I googled a bit and found that in firefox, you have to do something more to achieve this behaviour. So, I ended up doing this on button click to work in firefox:
var link=document.getElementById('linktag');
var e = document.createEvent('MouseEvents');
e.initEvent(

The above code does the click on link when I click on the button. But my problem now is that I have defined a link as
<a href="mailto:abc@xyz.com?subject=abc&body=email body">email </a>
and when click is called and mailto links opens my email client, it somehow ignores the subject and body parameters of the link. It works properly when i actually click a link element. but it doesn't work when i simulate the click event by code written above. above dispatching event code somehow ignores the link parameters?
I am trying to add a tooltip to an element (based on vertigo-[URL]... Normally, works fine, except when I clone an element which has a tooltip in it and append it to another element, the title disappears after the first time it is hovered over. Code is below, and a live example is here.

Its adding a new row with all child elements but i am unable to assign unique ID's. I'd like increment ID by one or append existing id with some unique number.
Also when i refresh page all loaded elements gets removed. Is there a way so that these newly added rows,Td, text boxes and select stays even when page is refreshed.

How can I rename cloned element? Should be fine to increase its name by one,e.g.: original id1 into cloned id2 and so on.[URL]...
I have two functions show after the message. The first works fine. When a checkbox is clicked with the class availableProfile, its class is removed, selectedProfile added. It is then appended to anotehr list and destroyed in the original. However when i click the now moved checkbox it doesn't recognize it has the new class of selectedProfile.
$(".availableProfile").click(function(event) {
elementID = event.target.id;
elementGroup = elementID.split("__");

I have a button and a table that I want to clone when "Add new" button is pressed, and then append the cloned elements to the "items" container, but with updated id's and names - the update is done by appending the value of "num" attribute of "items". In the end I'll have to clone and update the id's and names for multiple input elements in the table found in the "default_container" - but right now it doesn't work even for direct children. The problem (one of them at least) right now is that the iteration over the children isn't performed.
