Can AutoFill Option Be Programatically Disabled In FireFox ?
Aug 4, 2005
A user can control the AutoFill option by enabling / disabling the
Remember Passwords option in Options - Privacy - Saved Passwords
section.
But is it possible to disable this option programatically using
JavaScript or in any other way ? I basically dont want the user's
browser to ever remmeber the username and password and hence autofill
these two fields !! So can we do anything as the page author to disable
this option completely?
I'm using the autofill forms plugin for firefox which can be found here: [URL]. I use it to automatically fill various web forms. But I would like certain values to be chosen randomly from a list I create. I contacted the developer and he said the add on probably does not need a new feature because there is a 'dynamic tags' function to fill certain forms with dynamic values (e.g. the current time or date). He has given over the project to another developer and told me I probably would find a solution in a good javascript programming forum.
Basically, I just need a javascript code which chooses on item from an array randomly, I guess? Here are sample dynamic tags from the plugin: <datetime> new Date().toLocaleString() <useragent> navigator.userAgent <langcode> navigator.language <resolution> screen.width+'x'+screen.height <clipboard> this.getClipboardText()

This has me completely stumped. I have a multiple select form element in my HTML document that needs to be manipulated by two different sets of context-sensitive controls. One set of controls is marked up as follows:
When I load this page into Safari (on Mac OS X) and set the style of divControls1 to "display:block," I have an enabled "Add" button, a disabled "Edit" button, and a disabled "Delete" button, just as I expected. (I monitor selections in a multiple selection element to turn the buttons on and off.) But when I load this page into Firefox (also Mac OS X), all three buttons are disabled at startup. My page runs a function called startup() when the body fires onLoad. To try to troubleshoot the problem, I wrote this line at the beginning of the startup() function:
function startup() { alert (document.getElementById("btnAdd").disabled); ...
When I run this code in Safari, the alert returns "false" (not disabled), just as I would expect, and intended. However, the same code in Firefox (Mac OS X) returns "true" (disabled) ... but the same code in Firefox (WinXP) returns "false"!
I want to change the event handler for a form field, using JS code. But there doesn't seem to be a way to reference it. MyForm.SomeField.onChange is undefined. Anyone know if there's a way to do this?
when someone tabs through with the keyboard, and presses enter on a link, it triggers the click event on that link (which is good) but then the menu stays open.. In my case, I'm not directing the user to a new page, just loading up ajax content, so the menus just hang there open.I want to close them after a click/pressing enter.Or should this go with my gripes about keyboard navigation.
How do you programatically invoke a radio button? What I am trying to do is after a user presses a radiobutton, it checks to see if another independent checkbutton is pressed. If it is, it disables it and then programatically calls the users first button press.
I love the jquery.transformable.js v0.3 plugin. However, I need to be able to rotate an element programatically, via an input box. Anyone have a way to do this.
I am trying to add select items via jquery to a select control. The following code works perfectly in IE, Opera. Chrome and Safari, but for the life of me I cant get it working in firefox. I really don't think its a bug but I must be missing something obvious.
I'm currently working with a bit of javascript to dynamically add <option>s into a select box. My code currently works fine in Internet Explorer, however in Firefox the dropdown only displays the first option in the list, and when clicked the other values aren't displayed.
Here is the code;
//ar_options is an array with the option to be displayed in.
for (count=0; count<number_of_options+1; count++) { document.forms['enquiry'].enquirytype.options[count] = new Option(ar_options[count],ar_options[count]); };
As I said - fine in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox. I did discover some discussions about this, which were talking about an issue and workarounds but I couldn't get any of them to work. I have also tried simply using the document.write() function to output the HTML in the correct place. However this is just hte same, works in IE but not Firefox.
Im trying to make a "Search Many Sites from One Location". Heres my problem:
I have a form on my page which allows the user to enter a search term and select which site he would like the results from.
(the sites dont allow URL pasting) the sites are library catalogues.
heres my idea, can this be done?: User enters search term, selects site they want results from and enters submit.
This takes user to a framed page with frame1 being library catalogue. now either the frameset or frame 2 does this at timed interval gets the variable that was submited from search term entered and uses something like this bookmarklet

I have a simple calculator on my website which has a few options selectable by radio buttons. When the user adds selections - the total price of their order is automatically calculated and displayed in a <div> for them to see. The client then can deselect options or add according to their budget. The code which deals with this is as follows (just sections of it but you get the point ....) In the <HEAD>
<script type = "text/javascript"> var allprices = []; var index = 0;
struggling with figuring out how to fill certain types of forms. Here's a SMALL SNIPPET of a form. Parts of it would be VERY convenient if it could be automatically filled when page is loaded. Autofilling text boxes is easy enough. But I need the file box to be auto-filled with "C:/example.txt" when the page loads.
NOTE: typing value="C:/example.txt" does not work .
I am searching a solution to change a ComboBox by popup I have found this script on the web. Is it also possible to select the newVendor just after adding? Is this script ok or are there better solutions?

I'm using the following code to remove an option from a select control based on a selection in a different select control and the option text in the select option that is being removed. The code works as I want it to, but I would prefer to use the option value for identifying the option to remove instead of using the option text. I've tried several different ways to do this, but can not find the proper syntax.
I have an select option list, each option has a numerical id, value and text. Each option has an array of its own. So when I choose an option from this list, I want to insert the options array into another option list with an id, value and text. Whats the best way of doing this? How do I select an array based on the value or text of a select option? For for example, take a list of car makes. If I choose the make Audi, how do I select the array of Audi models and insert these models into another select option list. All makes and models have their own numerical id, value and text.
I wish to have options show or not show depending on the options selected previously. I think I would be right in saying this needs to be client side and think it must be javascript that is needed here. Either way what method should I use and what is the coding needed to do this. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-W3CDTD HTML 4.01 TransitionalEN"> <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> </head><body> <form action="" method="get"> .....
I have a form that uses jeditable to edit-in-place several fields and select boxes. Everything is working great. Now I need to a way to add a new option to the select list. What I would like is the user select "Add New..." from the select list that would pop-up a dialog window where several fields are filled in. When the form is saved the select field is updated with the new ID and description. I use Facebox for pop-up windows to display notes when the user clicks on a topic. I know Facebox can be used to display a form. It would be ideal to use this ability when creating a new option for the select box.
