is there any way, using javascript, to call a function when someone presses back or forward in their browser? I'm using AJAX and have a partial solution. It works but would be more efficient if this is possible.

Whenever the page is reloaded, it is playing correctly, the problem is when the user navigates away from that page and the presses the Back button to go back to the previous page with the animation. The animation does not play again, it just shows the last state (probably because it's cached/in history?). Is there any way to restart the animation after the user presses the Back button?

I remember I had before a problem because I wanted to bring back iframe and not top window as it did. But today I tested my Facebook app and was surprised to see it works as I need which means it brings back/forward iframe window and not top. I currently manage a website that has a simple banner rotation javascript that randomly rotates banner images and the associated link every few seconds. I have been asked to replace it with a script that will be sequential in rotation and have a couple small button options just below the banner to move forward or backward through the selection.
I figured instead of reinventing the wheel someone surely has a simple a banner rotator with forward/back options, but darn if I can find one. There are countless scripts out there, but I can�t find one where the user can select the next banner before its allotted time. It would be simple enough in flash, but it was requested I stay with java script.
Anyone have any leads for a very basic banner rotation script that incorporates the forward/back selection option?
I want to create back and forward buttons on my web page. I didn't havena problem with that... the thing I am having trouble with is I would like to display "disabled" images when there if there isn't a page to go back/forward...how would I go about doing that?

For some reason, IE8 insists on submitting an HTTP GET request when the user presses "enter" when inside of an <input> element.It's a rather curious thing because I have an <input type="submit" /> that has an event for "click" that contains the following code:
event.preventDefault();
event.stopImmediatePropagation();
This works on Firefox - if the user presses "Enter" inside of an input element on the form, the submit button will not execute. But on IE, it does. However, if the IE user "clicks" the submit button, it does the right thing.Do I have to also override keydown events too and stop those? Why does Firefox and IE work differently here?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi'm New to JQuery and I recently had a problem with encorporating a transition at the beginning and end of my carousel. I found that by default it would Fast Forward/Fast Rewind through all the images at the ends, rather than just jump to the slide and wrap.
I've managed to solve the issue (bar a transition effect from the last slide back to the first) it now jumps to slide one, rather than rewinding through all the images. However (and i know this sounds silly) but i'm having trouble doing the reverse. I'll add both the zip file to show a working model if interested and also post the 2 relevant functions :)

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to utilize a pre existing snippet of JS that makes a call to some PHP, where the PHP echo's out the answer, namely a dynamic quick search output, that gains its data from an xml file (which works as expected) and thought I might be able to rework the code to work for my altered purpose (which has been a disaster at every attempt) which is as follows:
1. I have a JS file called call4section.js - JS that has a string (str) value assigned (could be number or a combination of numbers and letters) which is passed to a PHP script called call4section.php.
2. The PHP script takes receipt of the string and finds a match within an XML file for the entry under <reference>.
3. The XML file has a format as follows:
<pages>
<note>
<section>value</section>

And well, I dont seem to be able to get any further forward with it. Effectively, I can echo out the $reply (if it worked I think), but my stumbling block is sending the starting string, with the JS expecting some reply sent from the PHP.
I am required to implement such a function in an email.
The HTML format email contains a field and a button. Once user click the
button, program will gather the information(email address) in the field and
forward this email to it.
I am thinking about the implemented by JavaScript/VBScript, but don't find
the solution yet. Could anybody supply some clues?
