I have just started learning JQuery and have a doubt in the below code. $.get('myhtmlpage.html', myCallBack);The doubt is should the 1st parameter of the get function be a HTML file or can it be a unction name?
View 1 Replies View Relatedis there any way, using javascript, to call a function when someone presses back or forward in their browser? I'm using AJAX and have a partial solution. It works but would be more efficient if this is possible.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have two selectboxes. I just want it something like this, when I select a value in my first selectbox the second selectbox will show. And when I select different value on my first selectbox, my second selectbox will hide. Meaning, there is one value in my first selectbox that has the ability to show the second selectbox.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the following code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#link').click(function() {
alert('Clicked!');
$('#content').load('dialogs/load/content', function() {});
});
});
The link is a normal link that is not dynamically created. The alert works. I know the problem is not the Ajax call because this works just fine:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#content').load('dialogs/load/content', function() {});
$('#link').click(function() {

It only breaks when located inside the click handler. It does not return response headers or a response. Is there something about event handlers and ajax that I'm missing?
big fan -- first time poster. I've been learning javascript and jquery on the fly so bear with me if I seem to lack understanding of what may be semantic basics.
Anyway, I'm building a mobile app using phonegap. One page grabs data for a table from ajax, and each table element has a delete button in one of the cells. In short: the clicks aren't working. I put the alert in to test, and no dice. I'm not asking for help on the internals, I'm just stumped on why the function isn't being activated,

I am trying to make an onblur that calls a function and passes it some text, for example:
onblur = "function("Hello")"
However this wont work as it is not even calling the function. I have tried all the different encapsulation tags I can think of but still no luck is there any way of doing it or can I assign the text to a variable and call the function in the onblur?
I have been trying to utilize a pre existing snippet of JS that makes a call to some PHP, where the PHP echo's out the answer, namely a dynamic quick search output, that gains its data from an xml file (which works as expected) and thought I might be able to rework the code to work for my altered purpose (which has been a disaster at every attempt) which is as follows:
1. I have a JS file called call4section.js - JS that has a string (str) value assigned (could be number or a combination of numbers and letters) which is passed to a PHP script called call4section.php.
2. The PHP script takes receipt of the string and finds a match within an XML file for the entry under <reference>.
3. The XML file has a format as follows:
<pages>
<note>
<section>value</section>
[code]....
And well, I dont seem to be able to get any further forward with it. Effectively, I can echo out the $reply (if it worked I think), but my stumbling block is sending the starting string, with the JS expecting some reply sent from the PHP.
Deselection of last selected option in multiple selectbox if more than 3 option is selected is not working in ie 7(in mozilla it is working fine).

There will be a default onchange function for the selectbox, but for separate script, I need to onfly detach the event and re-attach a new function to it. But, it seems that not working at all.
i have an iframe inside a page(main). In that iframe, i am calling a java script function that is in the main page.This function call is working in Mozilla , IE but not in Safari and google chrome?? Is there any specific reason for that? when i add the function in the iframe it works.

But /*THIS*/ and /*THAT*/ never happen. Is there a way of doing a callback, so that when the background image has changed, do the below functions. Then end with changing it to nothing again?
I want to bind a hook to objects member variable change event i.e. lets say I have object:
var obj { var1 : 1,
var2 : 2,
var3 : 3
};
I want to call "Magical" function like this:
onVariableChange(obj, "var1", function(obj, varname, old, new) {
alert("Variable " + varname + " changed from " + old + " to " + new);});
And after this function call every time obj.var1 is set to some value have my callback function called
I found something in internet: [URL]. Its cool but:
-It is changing Object-s prototype
-It is not working under IE 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12....
I've changed it a little bit and instead of adding to Object class prototype I'm adding it as member to any object which needs this hook. But IE still doesn't work. Is there any known cross-browser solution for this? I remember there was a jQuery upcoming project which would allow users to bind object to form and by changing one other will change automatically I wonder whats that project name and how they change input value when object member value changed.
I am trying to figure out how to pass the html back from an ajax call
Let me give a couple snippets
jquery call:
I have a web service that returns an array.
Code is below: Data variable comes back as blank. I was wonder is that because the method returns an object or am I doing something wrong on my end.
$.ajax({
My code (below) works if I place the selectBoxes in different cells on a table. However, what I want is only ONE selectbox displayed at a time, not the 3 different select boxes in 3 different table cells of the table.
I initially want the citySelect to display, but if user clicks option [-- change country --], then the citySelect is REPLACED by the countrySelect. Then, on making a country selection, the countrySelect is REPLACED by a new citySelect which is populated with the new city list.
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function loadCities(countryID){
if(countryID == "") {

About 2 weeks ago, I had some plugins just quit working. I have searched and cannot find anything about this issue. I have not made any changes, prior to this happening.
The issue, so far, has affected the "blockUI" plugin, and the "print" plugin.
All I get back now (instead of working code), is that the particular plugin is not a function. Something like code...
I've tried changing it to blockUI(), rewriting it the way the print plugin worked, but nothing seems to be working
<button onClick="return popup('<span onClick='selectShape(1, 1, 1)'>test<span>');" tabindex=Ɖ' onFocus="setFocusColor(0,3)">....</button>
This will work perfectly, but as soon as I need to pass Strings inside the selectShape function, I get stuck.
So the question is, how can I create the following and have it working
......selectShape(2, 'Tricky', ཤx5°').....
I'm wanting a table cell click event to remove and replace the table it was clicked on, however I'm finding that as it's deleting the original table object the actual running event code is being replaced and the function is bailing.how I can call the delete/refresh function from outside the event's function scope?

I have a real perplexing issue. In two separate "projects" I had code that displayed checkboxes - when clicked, they would fetch information from a db and display it in the div below. [code] When I move the testFunction outside of jQuery it works:[code]I realize it has something to do with the order of the DOM vs the Flash loading, but I don't know what to do about it. I need that function to be inside$(document).ready(function() {}); The function in question on the actual site is jQuery plugin function (jScrollPaneapi.getContentPane().load) - i.e. I am trying to get a button in the flash movie to load content into a jScrollPane. If I move that function outside of jQuery, it is recognized by flash, but it doesn't function.I have tried moving the embedFlash inside the$(document).ready(function() {}), I tried using a swfObject call back to make sure the flash is loaded - nothing works.

I'm having some problem with return value for a function. I'm trying to access google blogger's API to display blog entries on my site. I'm doing this through JQuery and requesting a JSON response. Everything seems to work ok, but I want to access the link for the blog entry. This is a subset of the "entry" object.
It's structured like this:
Entry:
title,
content,
link:
rel,
type,
href,
rel,
type,
href,
I want to get the link where the "link.rel == "self". To do this I have to loop through the link object (5 times). The loop and conditional statement works correctly, but I can't get the variable inside this loop back to my original function.
I have this code:
$.each(data.feed.entry, function(i, entry){
$.each(entry.link, function(j, link){
if(link.rel == "self"){
var postlink = link.href;
alert("link : " + postlink);
return postlink;
}});
alert(postlink);
});
This may be a NOOB question and I am new to jquery itself so my syntax may just be incorrect but I do work with javascript and php quite a bit.Anyway here is a piece of sample code that is correct and does what is expected
[Code]...
From what I have read I believe the format is correct in my function. In PHP I have a print_r function that would dump an array where regular echo commands would simply output array so this may be a similar issue. I am not sure.
I have a few document ready functions on my page. I don't want the functions to get executed if the page is loaded because the user clicks on the browser forward/back button. Is there a way to prevent the document ready functions from getting executed if the user clicks on the forward/back button?
