This script is supposed to redirect IE 5 to a page on my site. However, the code is not doing the redirect part. Take a look:
/*******************************************************************************
OLDIE - or Old IE. A script that finds the version of IE you're using,
and redirects if lower than the set parameter.

var browser= navigator.appName
var ver= navigator.appVersion
[Code].....
I also would like to point out that the code belongs in a .js file. NOT <script type="javascript".........
I need a script that will redirect to a specific page is the browser is safari version 4. if the browser is NOT safari 4 I want the browser to stay on the current page.
Is there a script that would direct Opera users past the front page of a web site (that uses flash) to the home page? For instance, a site I'm building as a favor to a church has a flash intro page that is fine with every browser but Opera. (Opera doesn't respond to Autoplay but places a large "Play" button where the flash is located.) On this particular page, the flash movie ends with an "Enter" instruction and is a hyperlink to the "home" page, so if an Opera user clicks that button, they're still not going to see the flash but are going to arrive at the "home" page. Is there a way to not even present them with the flash page, but to send them straight to the home page?
Basically, I need a browser detection script that will detect what version of what browser the user is reading. My site works with IE 5.5SP2 and up, Netscape 7.2 and up, Opera 7.1 and up, and Firefox 1.0 and up (have not tested on any Mac browsers).
What I want the script to do is once it's detected a version of one of these browsers or higher, to continue loading the page. If it detects a lower version, or any other browser, I want it to direct users to a page telling them they are using an old or untested browser, where I have links to update the tested browsers and a link to continue to the site anyways
I have tried a couple scripts, but they only partially work. The one below seems to work so far for the two browsers I can test on (It goes to the good page for IE 6 and the bad page for NS 4.79 (I added Firefox and Opera myself, so I don't know if it works).
browser = navigator.appName ver = navigator.appVersion version = ver.substring(0,1) if (browser=="Internet Explorer") { if (version<="5.5") document.location.href="index2.html" } if (browser=="Netscape") { if (version<="7.2") document.location.href="index2.html" } if (browser=="Firefox") { if (version<="1.0") document.location.href="index2.html" } if (browser=="Opera") { if (version<="7.1") document.location.href="index2.html" }
How do I specify that IE 5.5 has to be 5.5 SP2? And how do I specify that every other browser in the universe except those lined out above in the code has to go to index2.html? I don't know how to specify that Safari has to go to index2.html while Netscape 8 doesn't.
I am having problem regarding browser issues! I need to accomplish this task:Browser requirements should be( IE7,IE8,Firefox 3, Firefox 4, Safari 5, Opera, Chrome) and higher. I want to detect if user's browser is below the requirements compatibility above then I want them to redirect to error page, let say compatibility.html if browser is below requirements!..If the browser meets the requirments, it should continue to load the page requested by the user.
I've been to sites where they've got a script that bounces me out 'cause I don't use IE. That always leaves me feeling ruffled and having a door slammed in my face.
I've been looking around and can't find a script that detects the following:
First visit popup Browser Version JavaScript Enabled (Connection type would be useful like 56k minimum)
It opens in a new window, gives the "option to continue" (click continue, closes window) Click "Cancel" would politely bounce them back from where ever they came from as well as closing the little window.
I have a website with a lot of jQuery effects and functions which is not working properly under Internet explorer 8 and below, it works excellent on Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari however, I'm planning to make a light version of the website for Internet explorer, is there a way to verify browser type and version and redirect the user either to the light or normal version of the site according to those parameters?
Is there a way to redirect your site to another site if the browser doesn't support HTML 5? So, if you where using an old version of IE or Firefox that didn't support HTML 5 it would redirect them to another page.
i don't know what has changed in last releases of Firefox and Opera but before i used this script to detect browser versions (IE, Opera, FF) and block or redirect depending on version
I have data pages in my e-commerce site (from 1999) that are imbedded in a parent page using the object tag. I have started to include a little JS snippet that is intended to redirect to the parent if the embedded pages are loaded separately:
This works fine in Firefox, but in IE 7 and 8 it gets into an infinite loop of reloading the parent page into the object frame.Here is a sample:http://www.greathallminis.com/Ancient_15mm/darkages_anc15_mm.htm(I've left this page with the issue, while I have excluded the script for IE elsewhere.)
I have a Javascript redirect on pages inside my site (not the index page) because Netscape 4+ doesn't see the CSS properly. I'd tested it at home, and it worked fine. But now testing it on another computer, its not redirecting. Code:
I have a simple ajax request that is supposed to (after a short timeout) redirect the page to the URL that the server sends back but it just wont work. It does work without the setTimeOut() function however.
var http = false; if(navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") { http = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } else { http = new XMLHttpRequest(); }
function go() { var u = "http://site.com/"; http.open("GET", "go.php?" + "u=" + u, true); http.onreadystatechange=function() { if(http.readyState == 4) { var redirURL = http.responseText; setTimeout("window.location.href = redirURL;" , 2000); } } http.send(null); }
I'm trying to write very basic page that just takes input from a text box, processes it with a function called DoSearch() when you click the submit button, then redirects to the Google equivalent to display Google's search results. If I put a redirect in the body section it works fine. I've also added an alert in the function and that works fine, but the redirect doesn't. I'll post the source below because it's only short:
Suppose,closing the browser through Browser Close Button(Top Right Corner cross(x) button), i have to execute some ASP script , for that, in body onUnLoad Event calling a fucntion called CloseWin(e,frm), it is working in Internet Explorer successfully , But in FireFox not working. how to solve this problem. or any other way to get the co-ordinates of browser close button( code for both IE and Firefox).
code follows
function CloseWin(e,frm) { //frm required for my program var bButtonClicked = false;
I have a javascript that I found for an iphone style menu. It works and allows me to click through the menu as long as it is within the list system. If I try to create an external link to a webpage. It doesn't load anything. Here is the code let me know if anyone knows the trick so I can link out. Below is the javascript used to create the flowing menu system. Let me know if you need the rest of the .css and html.
(function() { var animateX = -20; var animateInterval = 24; var currentPage = null; var currentDialog = null; var currentWidth = 0; var currentHash = location.hash; var hashPrefix = "#_"; var pageHistory = []; [Code]...
I can't get javascript to work on my computer at all. I've tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox but I either get messages saying that I need to enable it or install it, or the page just doesn't load. And I know that it isn't just the site I'm looking at because it's more than one site, and I checked to see whether it was working on different computers, which it is.
I have javascript enabled AND I have java installed, What am I meant to do?
Internet Explorer 7 does not handle buttons correctly since it sends the text between <button> and </button>rather than the value. (Weird but true.) This Javascript is supposed to correct this by sending the value of the button onClick. But it does not work.
I use this to attach the Javascript file in HTML5 :
Code: <script src="buttonfix.js"></script> Contents of buttonfix.js : Code: function runonclick() {
I have been trying to programme the script below so that it will work in Netscape Browser 7.1, 4.73 and Microsoft Internet Explorer; but without success. When I attempt to execute the function flyingsleigh() I receive a JavaScript error: Invalid argument at line:19 Char:7 The idea of this script is to make a graphic run across the browser screen - left to right when the form button is pressed, executing the function using onClick event handler. Code:
Is JQuery live() supported in mobile app browsers? I am having a difficult time getting an application to work. I've posted some code to illustrate/test the problem below. Three lists, #1 using bind(), #2 using live(), and #3 using live() whilst allowing to add list elements. Clicking the list item should just bring you to a second page that displays your selection (it updates whatever was there before, original text is 'original' text). Works great on my PC in all browsers except IE, and on Android/FireFox, but not with IPhone/Safari and Andrpid/WebKit: ot only is the event not triggered on dynamically added list elements, it's not triggered on the 'static' elements in lists #2 and #3. The app was written using JQTouch; wondering if that disrupts somehow JQuery functions.
