Oct 8, 2011I have a website with a lot of jQuery effects and functions which is not working properly under Internet explorer 8 and below, it works excellent on Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari however, I'm planning to make a light version of the website for Internet explorer, is there a way to verify browser type and version and redirect the user either to the light or normal version of the site according to those parameters?

Script To Redirect Certain Browser Users?
Oct 17, 2011Is there a script that would direct Opera users past the front page of a web site (that uses flash) to the home page? For instance, a site I'm building as a favor to a church has a flash intro page that is fine with every browser but Opera. (Opera doesn't respond to Autoplay but places a large "Play" button where the flash is located.) On this particular page, the flash movie ends with an "Enter" instruction and is a hyperlink to the "home" page, so if an Opera user clicks that button, they're still not going to see the flash but are going to arrive at the "home" page. Is there a way to not even present them with the flash page, but to send them straight to the home page?

Dec 4, 2006Basically, I need a browser detection script that will detect what version of what browser the user is reading. My site works with IE 5.5SP2 and up, Netscape 7.2 and up, Opera 7.1 and up, and Firefox 1.0 and up (have not tested on any Mac browsers).
What I want the script to do is once it's detected a version of one of these browsers or higher, to continue loading the page. If it detects a lower version, or any other browser, I want it to direct users to a page telling them they are using an old or untested browser, where I have links to update the tested browsers and a link to continue to the site anyways
I have tried a couple scripts, but they only partially work. The one below seems to work so far for the two browsers I can test on (It goes to the good page for IE 6 and the bad page for NS 4.79 (I added Firefox and Opera myself, so I don't know if it works).

How do I specify that IE 5.5 has to be 5.5 SP2? And how do I specify that every other browser in the universe except those lined out above in the code has to go to index2.html? I don't know how to specify that Safari has to go to index2.html while Netscape 8 doesn't.

I want to detect if user's browser is below the requirements compatibility above then I want them to redirect to error page, let say compatibility.html if browser is below requirements!..If the browser meets the requirments, it should continue to load the page requested by the user.

I've been looking around and can't find a script that detects the following:
First visit popup
Browser Version
JavaScript Enabled
(Connection type would be useful like 56k minimum)
It opens in a new window, gives the "option to continue"
(click continue, closes window)
Click "Cancel" would politely bounce them back from where ever they came from as well as closing the little window.
Am I dreaming?

Kinda like window.location.refresh(), but it refreshes the page, means it empties some part of the cache and will reload images. I want to code so that when users select the value from the dropdown list, it should redirect then to the specified page. For instance i have the value, "car", "House" and "pets" in my dropdown listbox, if a use click on "car" it should redirect them to the car page. Redirect Away From A Page?
Aug 17, 2010I'm trying to redirect away from a page using AJAX, and I'm having a tough time figuring out how to do it properly. From what I understand, an AJAX request thinks it's done when a script echoes something, so this is what I have, for the script run behind the scenes and the HTML with AJAX:

I think what's happening here is that the Location header in the PHP is overwriting the echo, since I'm calling the Run.php script twice, so the AJAX request never knows it's ready. This also means, I think, that I'm missing something fundamental about how AJAX works, and I'm doing the redirection wrong

I want to test if the parent/previous page is a certain page when the popup window loads and if it is not then I don't want the popup window to open. I also want the page to redirect if a person just puts the popwindow address into their browser. I am working with asp.net vb and I am told javascript is the best way to do this. I know enough to open the popup window using javascript and that is about it.
