Automatic Yahoo!mail Or Gmail Login By Javascript
Jul 23, 2005
I'd like to write a HTML page which can help me directly log in my
Yahoo!mail or Gmail account without typing user name and password.
Basically, I want to set up a link, click it and pop up the Yahoo/Gmail
page.
What technology is most appropriate for this kind of work?
My current solution is not so satisfying: I download Yahoo!Mail page
and save it to local file; then using Javascript to load that file and
set up user name, password, submit it to Yahoo.
This works with Yahoo, but not Gmail. I haven't got time to investigate
why.
The thing I hate about this solution is: for every email provider, I
need to download their page and write corresponding page to
access/modify it.

I'm trying to setup a mail merge using a gmail docs script from [url]. So far, it works pretty well, but I want to edit it to include the following:
1) The script should start with "Dear Noah" as opposed to "Dear Noah_Kaplan"
2) I want to add my canned response to the script so that it always appears at the bottom of the e-mail.
3) Lastly, I want the outgoing mail to be saved as individual drafts in my drafts folder in gmail before it's sent out. That way, I can decide if I want to add a sentence or two to personalize each individual email draft.
By the way, here's the script I want to edit:

Yahoo mail uses a button that has two functions. If you click on the
major portion it will launch your search. If you click on the image
that is on the right of the button ( a triangle pointing downward) it
will popup a little div menu.

I need to build a Tabbed panel similar to yahoo mail (latest version). Means whenever I click on the link the page should be open in new tab, with closing button. Is there any jQuery plugin which provides same functionality.

From the term "automatic login" I suppose security (password protection) is not of key importance here. The guidelines for solution could be to use a Javascript bookmark (idea borrowed form a nice game published on [M&M's DK site][URL].. The idea is to create a javascript file and store it locally. It should do the login data entering depending on current site address. Just an example using jQuery:
[Code]...
Multiply the code blocks in your script, to add more sites in the similar manner. You could even combine it with `window.open(...)` functionality to open more sites, but that may get the script inclusion more complicated.
Note: This only illustrates an idea and needs lots of further work, it's not a complete solution.
This is the code I found on stackoverflow for automatic login to websites but it does not work.
I am doing exactly as told is ther anything wrong

I have Google Mail login page, saved locally to C: disk. I want to edit its source so, that when entered username and password and clicked on "Login" button it did absolutelly nothing, but the form did not reset. I tried deleting from the source "form action = https"//....", "method = post", "onsubmit = ...".
So, when the form is submitted, nothing happens(as I want it to be), but the field values are reset(what I want to avoid). I also tried inserting to source code "form onsubmit = return false", but the username and password values are still reset.

Just curious, what techniques does gmail leverage to hide the
javascript code that their service uses to work? I've tried View
Source here and there in the page without much luck.
I have no interest (you have to trust me on this one) of hacking it or
anything, I'm just curious.

This is a more compact view of the "open ad" code on yahoo.
<pre>
<script language=javascript>
// these are the two links for opening and closing the ad
var lnk1='<a href="#" onclick="moveIt(Ƈ');return false">Open Ad</a>'
var lnk2='<a href="#" onclick="moveIt(Ɔ');return false">Close Ad</a>'
// these are the contents of the table, you can put anything in here
var ad1='CLOSED STATE'
var ad2='OPEN STATE'
// this function actually moves the DIV size
function moveIt(status)
{
var tout=0;
if(status == Ƈ')
{
lnkdiv.innerHTML=lnk2;
adstate.innerHTML=ad2;
if (document.all.addiv.style.pixelHeight<250)
{
document.all.addiv.style.pixelHeight=document.all.addiv.style.pixelHeight+5;
tout=setTimeout('moveIt('+status+')',1);
}
}
else
{
lnkdiv.innerHTML=lnk1;
adstate.innerHTML=ad1;
if (document.all.addiv.style.pixelHeight>=105)
{
document.all.addiv.style.pixelHeight=document.all.addiv.style.pixelHeight-5;
tout=setTimeout('moveIt('+status+')',1);
}
}
}
</script>
<table border="1"><tr><td><div id=addiv
style="position:relative;height:100;width:300;z-index:3"><div id=adstate>CLOSED
STATE</div></div></td></tr></table>
<div id=lnkdiv><a href="#" onclick="moveIt(Ƈ');return false">Open Ad</a></div>

I'm would like my app to send a preformatted email(with subject and
body) everytime a user pushed a button, like : onclick "
mailto:this@that.com" , without the user seeing anything, i.e. not
being able to edit the message.
Using php, this is very simple; mail("this@example.com", "Subject",
"Line 1
Line 2
Line 3");
is there a way to do this the same, easy way using javascript?

Now that http://username:password@site.com no longer is an accepted
syntax in IE, I suddenly have a case in a project I'm working on. The easiest(?)
solution would now be that there was some Javascript function that
could pass the username and password or in som other way automate the login
process on a given site.
Thing is I have a server-generated HTML page that I want to make the
client redirect to a password protected site. (IIS Windows authentication).
Before: location.href='http://name:pwd@site.com'
Now: ?

JavaScript on Unix/Linux with Mozilla browser. If not, how about the

In Chrome, the login page on my schools educational online platform doesn't remember the login info. So i made a bookmark with this javascript injection, that fills in the info, and focusses on the 'aanmelden' button (='login' in dutch), so that i only have to press enter to continue. Here's the javascript injection:javascript: ocument.getElementById('username').value='23889493984';document.getElementById('password').value='4 42384985';return false;document.getElementById('login').focus();This works fine but i'd like to make it happen faster. I wish i could let the script be activated instantly when the page loads, so i only have to press enter, or if possible, let the script click the login button itself.

I am able to run perfectly the following
<li><a href="javascript:ajaxpage('login.php', 'ajax');">Login</a></li>
But not the following
echo "Welcome Guest!<br><a href=javascript:ajaxpage('login.php', 'ajax');>"
I removed the " around the javascript:ajaxpage('login.php'); as it was giving me syntax error. But I am unable to cal login .php upon clicking Login. I tried various combination of single quote and double quote but I think I am missing some fundamental rules of single and double quote combination....or may be something else.

I am trying to make a bookmarklet to enlarge textarea in Gmail. But I
can't get to the textarea.
When you are composing a message in Gmail, the page has two frames. the
first frame has name "main". That frame contains a textarea named
"msgbody" in which you compose messages.
I have tried with Firebug getElementsByTagName and getElementsByName
but all fails.
self.main.document.getElementsByTagName('textarea' ) returns empty list.
self.main.document.getElementsByName('msgbody') also returns empty
list.
I suspect that it is because the textarea is buried deep in the DOM
tree.
The dom path from the main frame to the textarea is:
/html/body/table/tbody/tr[2]/td[2]/form/table/tbody/tr[5]/td/div[3]/table/tbody/tr[2]/td[2]/textarea
However the dom path from the main frame to the first div element is
/html/body/div
and self.main.document.getElementsByTagName('div') returns a nonempty
list.

I am making a website and in it i want to provide dynamic floating menu bar like Gmail(current one). I have searched over internet for it but there i found menu bar whose co-ordinates are fixed. I mean if menu bar is on center of page and you scroll page a very little then menu will also scroll but in gmail it is different. When menu bar comes to top of page only then menu bar scrolls along with the page.
