Array - Pass Fields To A Function That Will Check The Value Of Each Field
Sep 23, 2011
Im trying to pass fields to a javascript function that will check the value of each field and it its empty then it will turn the field color red which is what its doing at the moment, but i want to be able to use this function globaly through out my project, so is there a way of not saying how many fields go in to that array, it will just deal with the amount of fields it gets passed?
I want to validate a form. In the form is a text field named 'extra[]' where the user inputs a number. The number is what I want to validate.
However, the 'extra[]' field is dynamic and does not always appear in the form.
If it appears, there may be only 1 occurrence of it which means it's then not an array but there may also be multiple occurrences of it.
I have a script that validates (and work as it should) if the 'extra[]' field occurs multiple times and is thereby an array, but I can't figure out how to validate the 'extra[]' if there is only 1 and to not throw an error if it's not there at all. Code:
i had write my code by using php language and i would like to pass in an array that generated by using php programming language from a select box through the onchange method.
i had try it but it cant be pass in. how should i code it?
I was wanting to build a javascript error checker function for several forms. Because each form has different inputs (ie, text, radio, select) i'm trying to figure out a way to pass some dynamic data to the function.
The way i'm currently doing it is by passing a long string to the JS function and then tokenising it into element names. However this is going to get very messy ....
I was thinking that, using PHP, i could build a list of the objects to be checked.
Is it possible to pass a PHP array to a Javascript function ...
So i've got in PHP
$array= {field1,field2,field3}
Which i want to pass (in a some manner)
<form name = 'formName' onsubmit='errorChecker(formName, $array)'
i want to update my database record using AJAX. but i am stucked where pass my row value(array) into the ajax function. for the button save, i think its working because if i put it in while loop of my fetching record function its updating my last record.
I have a function which can be called with an unlimited number of arguments.
I want to call another function with exactly the same arguments. I know I can get the arguments in the arguments object, and as such also in an array, but how do you pass the elements of an array to another function as parameters?
I have multiple fields in a form with the same name. Lets call the fields with the same name "junk_array". My first field of junk_array is a input type=hidden. All the others fields in junk_array that follow are type=text. I can reference this first hidden field in IE with document.form.field[0].value. In, fact my form works absolutely wonderful in IE 6. However, netscape 4.7 does not recognize my first field in the array as the hidden field. Netscape sees the first visible text field as the first field in the array, subscript 0. What totally and utterly perplexes me, is that, from a previous thread, I can do this and get 9999 back in an alert box in Netscape and IE. So, this proves Netscape doesn't have some evil code that disregards hidden fields. I guess...
I even copied these fields directly below the opening <form> tag in my form and both Netscape and IE see the first hidden field as as subscript 0.
However, my form is much more complicated. I have tables within tables and about 30 other fields. In my form I cannot for the life of me get Netscape to recognize the first hidden field of junk_array to zed as index 0.
Somehow, If I make the first type=hidden fields visible, netscape does work nicely. Why when I toggle type=hidden to type=text does Netscape cooperate. What is happening here? Anyone else have this problem with hidden fields in Netscape? I could post the code to my form but it is big.
I have an array of input text boxes (txtDOBn) where n is created at load. On the onchange event I want to calc the age and show in adjacent input text boxes that are readonly and also arrays (an age calced for each DOB entered). I was going to use the datediff function in vbscript to do the calc. Code:
I am working on a page where the user will select a location from a dynamically generated dropdown list. I was able to create the php multidimensional array (tested and working) from a MySql database using the users information at login, but I'm having problems converting it to a javascript multidimensional array. I need to be able to access variables that I can pass to a number of text fields within an html form. For instance, if a user belongs to a company with multiple addresses, I need to be able to let them select the address they need to prepopulate specific text fields.
I'm working a bunch of pre existing code on a CMS. Just after a quick fix. Doing a show/hide thing on a particular div somewhere on the page depending if a checkbox is ticked or not.Currently there is 3 checkboxes that are dynamically added through the CMS. Here's simplified version of the form:
Trying to construct a sql statement to update field values contained in a form. I would like to only update the values that are changed. If the current $_POST[] values populated in the form are not changed, there is no need to add that field to the UPDATE statement... but i am not sure how to do this with javascript and pass only those values. Can someone help?
Some say that it is not worth the code processing to do this but I would like to do this if possible. I know that phpmyadmin works this way.
I'm trying to figure out how to do this. I'm trying to figure out how to pass all of the fields that are returned and their status to my jQuery dataString but have no idea how.
PHP Code: <?php // Include the database page include ('../inc/dbconfig.php'); $styleid = $_GET['id']; $query = "SELECT fields.fullname, fields.enabled FROM fields INNER JOIN styles ON styles.id = fields.style_id WHERE styles.id = '" . $styleid . "'"; $result = mysqli_query ( $dbc, $query ); // Run The Query ?> .....
I am trying to check and see if three fields are empty and if they are then to alert the user saying to fill in one of the three fields. I tried this:
if (StreetNumber.value.length == 0) { if (StreetName.value.length == 0) { if (City.value.length == 0) { alert("Please enter a street number, street name, or city.");
am doing a check on my fields, so that they only contain certain characters and numbers. var validEntry = /^[a-zA-Z0-9@$&"]+/; but this also captures a space in between words as an error. can somebody please tell me on how to avoid this.
I am trying to do a check on two password fields. As you can see below, I am doing an if satement on keyup to verify the fields are the same, and if so append a green checkmark.
Problem I am running into is on the if statement line #6 below, where I have :
$j(pw1).val().length >= 6 && When set to 6, and I put a six digit password into the confirm password input box, and shift tab back to the initial password input box, the image disappears. Upon tabbing out of password back into confirm password the green check mark will re-appear.
I need to check all fields have values on click of button. The button already has a command but i need to check / run through the page for required fields. On find a blank required field then display message else continue with button next command.
If possible, maybe something that continues check on the form & display text this is required before making button visibe? I need to get this going else my project is screwed.
I would like to passwith the help of javascript empty non-mandatory fields to my perl script (and replace them with a custom value). The form mailer script only passes the mandatory fields. When non mandatory fields are filled , these are added to the list of passed field values, otherwise the list includes only the mandatory ones. I'd like to pass all values even the empty ones so that the person receiving the submitted data via email can easily export them to a database via a macro written by somebody else. Another requirement from client: The predefined values must not show up in the form fields when loading the page with the form.
How can I check for empty values as well as for tabs or blank spaces and replace each of these fields with a value = "not available"? I tried to do solve this for empty fields (no tabs, no blank spaces) but my solution does not work properly. It requires me to click the submit button 3 times before the form is submitted (because with every click the "not available" value is added in each empty field.
I have this Form, where there is a field that requires a number to be entered into it. How can I add the function where the number has to be re-entered into the next field, and match the original number field? I want to check that the number in both inputs is the same before the form will be submitted successfully.
