Convert Php Array To Array And Populate Form Text Fields
Nov 3, 2010
I am working on a page where the user will select a location from a dynamically generated dropdown list. I was able to create the php multidimensional array (tested and working) from a MySql database using the users information at login, but I'm having problems converting it to a javascript multidimensional array. I need to be able to access variables that I can pass to a number of text fields within an html form.For instance, if a user belongs to a company with multiple addresses, I need to be able to let them select the address they need to prepopulate specific text fields.
I need to create a form that has three questions, but the answers have to match my answers...what is the best way to do this (without DB). I was thinking create an array with the 3 answers then match the fields with the answers in my array.
From the these form fields I want to be able to create an array in Javascript containing the same 'codes' that feature between the option tags (not the value="X")
for example, from the above, I want a JS array for 'option-1' that contains KA-WH, KA-BK and KA-GN; plus an array for 'option-2' that contains BADGE-1, BADGE-2 and BADGE-3. The above form fields will be created dynamically, may contain more or fewer items.
I then want to use the JS arrays to pull in images of which filenames match the 'code' in the array.
I am having a difficult time with scope. I'm using the following code to populate an array from XML data:
var Point = function(pX, pY) { this.x = pX; this.y = pY;
[Code]...
When I break at the for loop in firebug the points array is empty but if I break in the jquery each loop I see the the point object being added to the points array.
I have a div what will contain a various number on images and I need to put all their src's into an array. Is this doable? Heres the code: <div id="imageHolder"> <!-- ONLY CHANGE THE SRC, NOTHING ELSE --> <div style="width:770px;height:400px;overflow-y:auto;margin-bottom:5px;"> <img src="[URL]" alt="" width="750" id="mainImage"/> <br /><br /></div> <img src="[URL]" alt="" width="240" height="120" onmouseover="Images = this.src;alert(Images)" /> <img src="[URL]" alt="" width="240" height="120" onmouseover="Images = this.src;alert(Images)"/> <img src="[URL]" alt="" width="240" height="120" onmouseover="Images = this.src;alert(Images)"/> </div> Ignore the onmouseover code I was attempting to do this but so far no luck.
in my script file , i need call a method of a atl com module(implemented in vc++), which returan an safearray. i don't know how to convert it into array in jscript. i have tried serveral ways to get each item but failed at last.
I've got an array as a php file that I want to convert to a javascript array. Do I write a php script and embed javascript within it, or do I do it the other way around? Are there other important aspects to consider writing such a script within a script? Does it matter where the script appears, i.e., between body tags, or head tags?
How to convert php variable so it could be used in a javascript section.
For example I have a php array named $places, it's a nested array and I'd like to traverse through all the elements of this array much like it's done in php =>foreach($places as $place) but this done in JS.
In a nutshell how do i convert this variable into a JS appropriate variable.
How do I explain this? I am grabbing several elements from my document and placing them in an array, using jQuery. When I test the Code: typeof this item, it returns as an Object, not an Array, which is problematic for IE. Firefox seems not to have an issue with Code: Object.length , but IE won't have any of that, so I need Code: Array.length or do I? In the end, I just want IE to know how many keys are in the Array/Object...
The values I have in variable "tables".I want to create variable list which takes values from "tables".Than I want to split this, and put each value in to new array: I've started with:
var list = "tables"; var listArray = list.split("|"); for(i=0; i < listArray.length;i++)[code].....
I am not sure this is possible but it seems like it should be. I want to populate a javascript array with all the image files in a dorectory. I want this to be dynamic so that when I add an image to the directory it get included in the array.
Any ideas? I am sure there are many javascript wizards out there who can point me in the right direction.
I have a pre-populated array in a JavaScript. How to populate TEXTAREA field with the text from that array, each entry on different line on page load? Say, value at index 1 will come at line 1; value at index 2 will come at line 2 and so on.
I'm having some issues with my code. I'm trying to pull data from one array and use it to populate a new array. With my initial array I can get the results of certain properties using 'servos[i].application'. Any servos that share their value with that of my filter box should be put into a new array called matches and allow me to referance them in a similar way 'matches[i].application'. At the minute I've got my code to populate the new matches array, i'm pretty sure, but when I try to get data out of the second array using the 'matches[i].application' style of query it says its undefined. I already have an array called servos which is full of 49 different servo objects. I've added the function containing this code and commented it too.
PHP Code: function dataPull(){ //create servoStore to build page for display //var servoStore=""; // search and get servos meeting application filter settings // create new array called matches with set properties var matches = new Array("application", "sclass", "type", "motor", "bearings", "gears", "modelno", "name", "speed", "v3_3", "v4_8", "v6_0", "v7_2", "weight", "dimensions", "opvoltage", "image", "description"); .....
I have multiple fields in a form with the same name. Lets call the fields with the same name "junk_array". My first field of junk_array is a input type=hidden. All the others fields in junk_array that follow are type=text. I can reference this first hidden field in IE with document.form.field[0].value. In, fact my form works absolutely wonderful in IE 6. However, netscape 4.7 does not recognize my first field in the array as the hidden field. Netscape sees the first visible text field as the first field in the array, subscript 0. What totally and utterly perplexes me, is that, from a previous thread, I can do this and get 9999 back in an alert box in Netscape and IE. So, this proves Netscape doesn't have some evil code that disregards hidden fields. I guess...
I even copied these fields directly below the opening <form> tag in my form and both Netscape and IE see the first hidden field as as subscript 0.
However, my form is much more complicated. I have tables within tables and about 30 other fields. In my form I cannot for the life of me get Netscape to recognize the first hidden field of junk_array to zed as index 0.
Somehow, If I make the first type=hidden fields visible, netscape does work nicely. Why when I toggle type=hidden to type=text does Netscape cooperate. What is happening here? Anyone else have this problem with hidden fields in Netscape? I could post the code to my form but it is big.
I have a client who wants to automatically send coupons that are selected by the customer on this page. Now, this will be handled by a mailing list software but it was suggested by the support team that the input fields (labeled coupon#_#) could be populated by using Javascript. There are 3 coupons and here's how have them structured:
I want to use arrays to populate an HTML list. I can populate the main list items but I can't seem to get the sub list items to work. <HTML> <Body> <ul> <script> var pages = ["page1", "page2","page3"]; var subPages = ["sub1","sub2"]; for(var i = 0; i < pages.length; i++){ var page = pages[i]; document.write('<li>' + page + '</li>'); if (page == "page2"){ document.write('<ul>'); for(var i = 0; i < subPages.length; i++){ var subPage = subPages[i]; document.write('<li>' + subPage + '</li>'); } document.write('</ul'>); }} </script> </ul> </body> </HTML>
