This is what i'm trying to do but i get NAN
I'm trying to adapt a script I found online for a timer that goes in my webpage. The timer counts from 30 seconds down to 0. I've adapted it so that when it reaches 0 it goes back up to 30, but I was wondering how can I make it so that after a certain number of loops through the timer, it executes some other (non-JS) code instead of just doing the timer forever?I've introduced a variable t to try to do this, but when I put in if(t>1) {break} at the bottom, the timer doesn't work properly anymore (it doesn't display a number in the box).
I've wrote what (at least in my mind) and awsome report generator for a group who uses my server. The user gets all the data from the server via the server's normal reporting tools, and then sorts/shows/hides/formats columns using javascript/jquery (saves server cycles). There is only one slight problem (think "grand canyon" slight), once a user has a form he or she wants, then the user needs to save the tab separated value form of the report to disk.
I can output the TSV into a DIV (and probably an IFRAME I'm guessing), and do for display purposes. However, the users need to copy/paste at this point, which is rather user-unfriendly. Is there a way to either prompt a file download/save (without making a call to the server and wasting time), or opening up a new tab with just the desired text, so the user can save it?
EDIT: I'd rather not replace the whole page that generates the report, as the user probably doesn't want to lose his or her work in formatting setings, and my want to generate multiple reports from one dataset/query, without having to rewrite the query.
I ve been trying the following code (see below), this code was posted by tabo here but apparently he left, it works fine on Firefox, Chrome, Safari but I cant get it working on Internet Explorer...I ve been looking everywhere and I dont understand where is the problem. here is the full coding :
I have some JavaScript that calls an AJAX function that in turn refreshes a DIV. I have a working model of this for a comment box. When a user types in a comment and hits send, the data is sent to a server and only the div refreshes; not the entire page
I need to add one more level of functionality to this working model. But when I change it a bit to fit what I need it does not work!
Each comment is related to a specific mediaID, and when comments are listed they all have the same mediaID. The mediaID is changed by clicking on a flash video link which in turn calls a method that "should" refresh the comments box with the correct comments. The problem is the DIV does not refresh with the php page that I provide it; instead, it puts the home page in the DIV. In my working model the DIV refreshes with the php page that I provide it.
I made a captcha verification in my php page and refresh the image using a simple javascript. Everything working fine in IE .. But in FF the refresh of image is not working... This is my code..
<script language="javascript"> function refreshCaptcha(){ document.getElementById('code').value='';
I have a script which allow users to chnage there profile image, and it allmost works perfect. The script is set up so when a user uploads a new picture it overrides the previous one, so if a user have an ID, lets say 15, the image would be called 15.jpg. The problem is that when an new upload is finished it still shows the old image, I think by cache, and thats no good. How do I refresh the image with ajax so when the script has done uploading the image is the new one?
I have a very simple php page that uses shell_exec to get some basic stats for my LAMP. I currently have it setup to where it uses a javascript refresh every 60 seconds, but would like to setup AJAX to have it so it doesnt actually refresh the page. I am new to javascript/ajax so I am a little lost, here is my code
I have a div where i store some status updates plus i have i have a textbox with a button where i type something and on button click (using ajax) i show what i typed before my div which works great , inside the div with the info i wrote i have a delete button which shows great on hover... at first it is in display:none; mode so on hover i show() it ..when it shows what i typed i cant see the button on hover and i have to refresh to see it..i guess its because the page has not refreshed to let jquery to find the new hidden button so it doesnt recognise it..
I am not sure, if this works. I make a function call with the ajax option of jquery.If I try this, the whole response data is shown in the specific #div.Is there any possibility to load only the content of "#div" from some.php?
This is my first adventure into PHP/Ajax/MySql/Javascript and is pretty much my first web project. I've been trying to tackle this problem for a little over a week now. My main objective is that I want to display php content pages inside a div on the index page without refreshing the page (iframe style). I don't want to stop search engines indexing the individual pages so I need a mechanism to redirect to the index page so that the page is displayed properly. I'm not bothered if it takes them to the exact page and I'm redirecting them to the section of the site where they the page is kept.
I also want a mechanism to redirect if a second search engine link is clicked that belongs to the individual page (ie image links that belong to the same page). This is only a problem because the php session has already been opened and a php variable has been set by the first redirect. All the redirections are taken care of by PHP and I got the redirection of multiple instances working ok by setting and unsetting session variables. This PHP code is included on every content page.
But, when I added links to the index page and try to navigate between pages, it all goes pear-shaped.When the links are clicked it calls up the Javascript code, inside which a PHP variable is set (I dunno if this is the "done" thing, but I came across the solution somewhere on the Interweb). This is the first thing checked when the content pages are called up. If the variable isn't set, then it runs through the redirect options.
The problem is that after clicking the link when the page displays it always refreshes the index page which I don't want it to do and which is why I'm thinking it's the setting of the PHP variable inside the Javascript that's going wrong. (Also why this question ended up in this section). Is there any way of getting this going without passing the variable into the url (not that I'm against this option)? Index page code, PHP Code (before HTML)...
Code: <?php if(!isset($_SESSION)) { session_start(); } // set the session var to the index page url which I think remains until browser close $_SESSION['pagecheck'] = "http://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']; // set the section var if it hasn't already been set by one of the content pages if(isset($_SESSION['sectNum'])!= "undefined") { $_SESSION['sectNum'] = "0"; } function getSection() .....
Additionally, are there any potential security threats that should be tackled (bearing in mind that I don't want to use cookies, I'm not against this either but decided if they are switched of it may become an issue, and I'm not going to be handling any sensitive information). I really don't want to use Iframes due to any javascript switching off related problems (yes there is a javascript testing function included in my full code!).
In my webpage is a div where the maincontent of the page is loaded in via Ajax. Now of course whenever I apply the browser refresh butten that content initializes.
i create a form with captcha, but the captcha values taken from database and image taken from a folder and match it, i call captcha sript using require() function. the problem is "how to refresh the require() script by clicking a button in <form>", but not refresh the form values.
I have a simple chat on a web page, but It wont refresh itself unless the user refreshes the whole page and I cannot force the page to totally refresh itself cause that would mess up the other things the user can do on the site. So I would need to make the DIV to "load itself again in for example 3sec". I believe this is quite common thing to construct, how to construct this?
Im making a fact system, and I need a refresh script, For example when someone clicks on the "next fact" button, the "div" part (where the fact is displayed) refreshes. ONLY the div part. and the javascript below is externally loaded...
List of facts!
Fact[0] = "You are born with 300 bones but only have 206 as an adult because many of your bones fuse together and make bigger more solid bones.";
Fact[1] = "The word "queue" is the only word in the English language that is still pronounced the same way when the last four letters are removed.";
Fact[2] = "Beetles taste like apples, wasps like pine nuts, and worms like fried bacon.";
Fact[3] = "In 1386, a pig in France was executed by public hanging for the murder of a child";
Fact[4] = "Scientist have believed that there are more chicken in the world than any human beings.";
I have a row containing 3 text field and a dropdown. the user enters details into the textbox and chooses a option from the dropdown. User may choose to save the details or add more details by clicking on Save or Add Row button resp. If the user clicks Add Row button, another row of fields similar to the previous row must append to the table. This should happen without the page getting refreshed, because i dont want to loose the data entered in the 1st row.
I am attempting to create a profile page with PHP utilizing AJAX technologies as well. I need profile data to auto-refresh on the page when a change is made in the database but every 15-30 seconds intervals are fine too. I would really like to use AJAX/PHP for this because I think it will be good for me to know and learn.
I have checked the internet for this and all of the examples show a form select/combobox where you select a "User" and then it populates the information automatically in a div below.
But... I need AJAX or PHP to READ THE VARIABLE FROM THE URL instead of a form(Combobox) and ultimately refresh the data on the page with the results from the DB query in the php file.
i have to txt <inputs> on a php web page, which use the jquery datepicker. however when i do an ajax refresh of one of the spans on the page, the datepicker wont pop up any more unless i do a reload of the whole page?
I'm using AJAX to auto-refresh a chatroom. You can see it on the right of the following site: http:[url]...
The problem is, when large images are placed in the chatroom via BBCode, (temporarily disabled) when the chatroom refreshes, they flicker! This is caused by the AJAX reloading the content, which in turn reloads the image.Is there a workaround for this? I want to allow images in the chatroom, but I don't want to turn off the auto-refresh. Below is the code I am running to refresh the chatroom:
Javascript Code: Original - Javascript Code function update() {[code]....
Basically, what it does is reloads chatQuery.php and currentlyOnlineQuery.php every 5 seconds, or when a chat message is submitted.
I have been using asynchronous requests for a long time. so the response was processed in a callback function. I thought of not using async so i made synchronous requests. The reason is that i dont have to have two more lines for checking the status and the onreadystatechange.... my synchronous requests would be like this...
[Code]....
so from the code you can understand that there is no need of a callback function and if conditions to check ready state... ... So there is no problem in the above code. The problem araises here... if i press the F5 (refresh) key or do a page refresh when the process is waiting for the response i get an (NS ERROR - firefox ( i have not yet checked that in IE browsers) (javascript error) though the process completes successfully. why?
Do we have to check whether the page is navigating away while in synchronous operation and abort the request? or what could be the reason for the error. This will not happen in async requests because that is also the reason for async...
i am using ajax to change the banner background while pressing on refresh Note:it must be a background image because i will display data from database. [URL]...
my problem is: when i press refresh button in Firefox browser it changes the background and on pressing refresh again the background will change but in internet explorer 8.0 it changes the background only for the first time and on pressing refresh again the background will not change.
how i can fix this problem ?? i want the user to press refresh at any time and the background will change.not only for the first time at the same time it must be a background image because i will display text from database.
If I type http://domain.com/product/5 into my browser I will see the product details in the main div plus a side bar div containing links to other products. This side bar is common to all product views. I click a sidebar link to product 6 and an ajax request updates the main cell with the product 6 information. My location bar will still say /product/5. If I refresh the browser I will see product 5. If I bookmark the page it will be for product 5. If I click the back button I will go to the page I saw before product 5. I know none of these problems with AJAX are new. Why is it that JavaScript can't tell the browser "Now you are looking at http://domain.com/product/6"? Is there a security risk? Is this just something not yet implemented?
