I want to check all checkboxes using one main checkbox. Then, the checkboxes will be disabled. But then, when the user unchecks the main checkbox, it must revert all the checkboxes to be enabled. How do I do so?

I have a simple form which I'm trying to validate. I have around 8 checkboxes that the user has to agree with, and if they dont, they get the message saying "you did not accept the training princples, yada yada".
I also have a few text fields asking for their details.
Maybe I'm missing something simple here, but everytime I submit the form, it doesnt validate. Im not fantastic at coding, but I was hoping this would be quite straight forward. All I'm trying to do is get a message up if the user doesnt agree with all of the checkboxes. Code:
I am having a problem in my struts application with the checkboxes in
my form. I have an array of checkboxes, some of which may be already
selected when the form loads. My problem is when the user then
deselects one or more of these checkboxes and submits the form -
they're being submitted as if they were still checked, when the user
has infact deselected them.
I've heard that this is a common problem, but I don't seem to be able
to find the problem / resolution with any search criteria. If anybody
knows the fix for this it would be greatly appreciated (if there is a
solution without using Javascript I would prefer this as we're trying
to write the application so it's not too dependant on Javascript . . .
I have a form that generates a dynamic number of rows from a value
passed in via querystring. I have a one static row in my form with a
"master" checkbox that I have deemed "Select All:". I want to be able
to select all and deselect all the other checkboxes beneath it in the
column by clicking on it. I've gotten it partially working. I can
click the "master" checkbox and it will set the .checked property of
all the others to true. BUT how do I reverse the process and turn them
all off? Here is my funcion: Code:
I am creating a form using a system called SORCE.The load an article page, only check boxes.I have three checkboxes and want to disable the other 2 when one of them is checked. I have ability to enter javascript code behind each checkbox and there is already some code behind each check box. Below is an example of the code behind the first check box:
Quote:
function do_value_toggle_54740(oCurObj)
{
oForm=oCurObj.form[code].....
I have tried adding the other checkboxes to the if statement, but this just causes errors on the form.The 2nd check box is called value_toggle_54743 and the third is calledval_toggle _54746.What javascript can i add behind each check box to disable the other two when one is clicked?
I have the "master" checkbox. When clicked it should check all "list[]" checkboxes. When removing the check from "master" checkbox it should remove checkboxes from all "list[]" checkboxes. What asm I doing wrong with my code?[code]

When the first checkbox is checked (None), I need the other three checkboxes to:

2. Become disabled
If/when the first checkbox is unchecked after that, the other three checkboxes would become enabled.

The Problem is that the serialize function only sees the first checkbox and indicates whether it has been checked or not. It does not see any of the other check boxes. Does anybody have an idea why the other check boxes do not get serialized and what to do about it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have three radio buttons, and when a certain radio is selected I want to show a series of checkboxes. If the other two radio buttons are selected, I want to hide the checkboxes. I *think* the problem is that I am using the wrong syntax to call the click() function on the radio "name" attribute.

I'm working on a page, where I want to use jQuery to build a "Portfolio" div that contains pics and info about some of my work. I found a bunch of cool tutorials about making a slide show, but they all have a sliding animation. With my page, the sliding animation would look awkward. I'm fine if it just replaces the current div with the next one. I'm just planning on using a previous and next button (Within the same div) to cycle through these.

I am working on improvements for a web app. It currently submits checkboxes to a php script for processing by simply submitting the form naturally. However I require this action using a ajax post to save bandwidth etc. and im struggling to work out how to do this. I am familiar with normal ajax posts using jquery but here I need to post an array.
Simplified a little this is what I have.
<input type="checkbox" name="ckdOrd[]" value="1" id="order_1" />
<input type="checkbox" name="ckdOrd[]" value="2" id="order_2" />
<input type="checkbox" name="ckdOrd[]" value="3" id="order_3" />
<input type="checkbox" name="ckdOrd[]" value="4" id="order_4" />
It used to build an array ckdOrd[] and post to a php script with a loop for processing. It needs to post the order numbers as an array for processing. Is there a way to simply create the same post using ajax jQuery?
The PHP simply does something like this
//get posted array
$ckdOrd=$_REQUEST['ckdOrd'];
foreach
$ckdOrd as $key => $ord_no {
//update mysql here
}
I know from scouring the Web that this is a very common Javascript question, but I have a twist on the question which is giving me headaches, and I hope some of the brilliant minds here at DaniWeb can help show me the error of my ways.
Say a user has checked a checkbox when submitting a form. I have a PHP script that records that check in a MySQL record. Later when they visit the page, the PHP script shows the checkbox as being checked. That's all working fine.
Now here's what I'm TRYING to do: Since the checkbox is checked when the page loads, I want a certain div to show up. And when the user UNchecks the checkbox, I want the div to go away. Simple, right?
Here's the Javascript I've placed in the header:
In the CSS, I've styled a div thusly:
And here's what I'm doing in the <body>:
This should show up when you click Yellow Box. And it should go away when you click it again. </div>
When I uncheck the checkbox (first click), nothing happens: the div still shows up.
Then when I re-check the checkbox (second click), the div goes away.
And then when I un-check the checkbox again (third click), the div comes back.
In other words, it's doing the OPPOSITE of what I want.
It seems that when I click the checkbox the first time (to uncheck it), the Javascript pulls an empty value. Only with the second click is it finding a value ('none').
I have a list of about 20 check boxes and I want a div to show when 3 have been selected as "Yes" option, how do i go about doing this?
Here is my html code:
<form>
<ul id="quiz-list">
<li>1. My bed partner complains that I snore.
<input id="select1" name="snore" type="radio" value="Yes" class="static_class style1" />Yes
[Code].....
how do i make it like if the checkbox is checked.. it gets replaced by a textbox like in[url]....i have tried using this:
<script>
function ShowHide(chk,txt)
{ [code].....
Can this be done? Particularly with jQuery?
I want to keep a fieldset hidden with Javascript and slide it open when a user checks a box to indicate that this fieldset is relevant to them. I'm fairly sure that I have seen this done in some forms.
I have begun to look through the docs, tutorials and some of the plugins listed under "forms", but I am not 100% sure exactly what to look for or exactly how I would use it if I found it.
I want a dropdown menu to become 'visible' when a checkbox has been checked,... and here's the key, i want it to become visible imidiately, not when a form has been submitted... Code:
View 6 Replies View RelatedTrying to build a dynamic part on my form by using a checkbox and <span>. Found a script that does exactly what i want, but uses a 'radio' in the script instead of a checkbox. And at that spot i need to be able to make multiple selections, so i need checkboxes.. In this specific case it's about geslacht='v' checkbox
My problems are:
1. My span doesn't start off at invisible
2. My function match_personalia_geslacht() works with a onChange, not with a onSelect.
Don't know how to get the same result with a checkbox.. So if someone can help me, i would be a happy man.

I have a very large form and have a couple of checkbox groups where multiple items can be selected. They are grouped as an array of checkboxes. When I post the checkbox groups, the PHP script receives duplicate values. If the group has 2 checkboxes, 4 values are posted. If it has 10 checkboxes, 20 values will be posted.
i.e:
I then submit everything to a PHP script via an Ajax call, then output the result to a div. (see below)
However, when my PHP script loops over the $_POST array, it seems that each checkbox array is duplicated, so my PHP array returns:
This happens with all my checkbox arrays, but not with an array of hidden fields for some reason.
I don't think this is a PHP problem, as it looped over everything correctly when submitting via a conventional POST. I checked the contents of $_POST, and it seems that the duplicates are being posted.
